We had a lovely dinner, salmon and scallops, lobster bisque soup and of course truffle fries. Portions were perfect. Our waiter was attentive and courteous. We managed to have dinner during a 2 for 1 special that really helped our pocket book. A wonderful start to a very fun evening!
One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Good restaurant.
The food was delicious. Our waitress Bree did a wonderful job. We will ask for her again. She was very friendly and informative regarding the menu. Overall a wonderful dining experience.
We loved the setting. Good food and a great wine list.
Service is always top notch. Great place to celebrate a special occasion.
Still love going to this place, great service and atmosphere. My wife asked for a well-done steak and ended up with medium, that would explain the low rating. But all in all a wonderful place in Steamboat.
Hi Mark, We are so glad to hear you keep coming back to E3 for more! We believe we deliver an incomparable experience by the Yampa River. We are so sorry to hear that your steak was not the temperature desired. While we do use top of the line meat thermometers, it is always possible for steak temps to vary a bit here and there. Please don't hesitate to let us know next time, and we promise to make it right for you, on the spot. Best, the E3 Family
The service was excellent. The food was good and the atmosphere is the best. Dining next to a beautiful mountain river is the perfect setting for a special evening.
Thank you for the beautiful review! This is just what we are shooting for with every customer and we are so glad we delivered. Best, the E3 Family
Very disappointed. The "deal" stated 2 hamburger patties. I only got one. It was so small it was almost invisible. The truffle fries were cold. We asked for warm fries and they brought barely warm regular fries instead of the truffle fries.
We're sorry to hear this Joanne. While we consider our $11 deal for the burger with regular fries (our truffle fries are not a part of the deal) and with a glass of wine to be one of the best in Steamboat, we do sometimes make mistakes. We would like the opportunity to make this right, please email our admin at e3admin@e3chophouse. We aren't perfect but we do guarantee the quality of our meals, and it sounds like we had a "goof" last week. We look forward to the opportunity to make this right.
This was our second time to E3. We had a very positive experience during our first visit in Feb and wrote a very good review. This time, in April, the food was disappointing. Neither steaks, sides, or dessert were impressive. Not at all worth the expense. Do they send there chefs off on vacation after peak ski season ends?
We're sorry to disappoint, Cleveland. Sometimes we do have an off night, and we hope to have you all back in to show you that we don't send our chefs away for mud season ;). Best, the E3 Family
Smash burger was okay, but not a real burger. I know it wasn't, but it seemed almost microwaved. Not what I'd expect for E3, even for mud season. I know it was a deal, but locals are important too.
How disappointing to hear, Heather, especially after hearing so many positive reviews around town as of late. We do hand grind the finest grade Never Ever sirloin and then hand prepare each patty, so we're not sure what happened! We are also running this price point ($11 is one of the best in town, I know you'll agree as a local too) for our locals, so while we are sorry to have missed on your visit, we do hope to get another opportunity to cater to our locals, who are extremely important to us.
Great food, great see
Great food, excellent service!
Overall very good service and great steaks!
A bad start...went in at 3 minutes before reservation time and place was 90% empty....Hostess said our table was not quite ready. She proceeded to seat two other parties before us and then set us next to a table full of small noisy kids (again 80% empty...The waiter saw the problem and reseated us...the rest was good.
No better way to celebrate a milestone than amazing food, friendly and outstanding service in a beautiful location!
Very nice service, good food, but 2 of our 4 steaks ordered medium rare were closer to medium well. They promptly replaced them, and they were great.
Very enjoyable dinner. The food was very good and our waiter and the rest of the staff were great.
Great ambiance for just about any occasion. Cool and lively bar, quiet and romantic dining areas. Ask the waitress if the chef will make you some truffle butter to top your steak with....YUM! Great wine selection and good Manhattans. Also, ask for a seat by the window overlooking the Yampa River.
Eek! Was so looking forward to trying this restaurant after reading about the amazing Kansas beef that they have. My husband got a filet and it was fantastic but I got a ribeye and it was really bad. It had chunks of gristle in it and it was extremely lean, which is not good for a ribeye. Because it was so lean it had very little flavor. They were very kind and took it back and did not charge us but that’s not what I wanted. I wanted an amazing ribeye. Everything else was great and the service was great but my steak was such a disappointment:-(
5 out of 15 mussels in appetizer were closed in shell (spoiled and dead). Steak overpriced for the quality. Service was enthusiastic but absent at times. Bread service was offered but never delivered. Free dessert for anniversary.
I think there’s food was far over price. The environment was not an intoxicating. There’s no reason to end up with a $500 meal for four people
Highly over rated! After the speech about how they grow their own beef and how it is ALL 2% Prime I ordered the 12 oz. filet medium because their definition of medium is a warm red center. 45 minutes later.....a grotesque looking pyramid shaped piece of meat was placed in front of me that was obviously the butt end of the tenderloin.....so tough I couldn’t cut it! Cooked well done!
Our server was somewhat shocked and asked if I wanted another one....DUH!! $58? 45 minute wait? Yes I want another. She left and returned with another one in 3 minutes! They had another medium filet coming up and she grabbed it for me....this one was perfect! Good cut and cooked medium per their definition.....we were so hungry we ate like refugees and then ordered our daughter an appetizer of their pretzel and cheese fondue.
When we got it home to her it was absolutely inedible....the pretzel had been placed on top of the fondue dip then removed and replaced in a separate box....the cheese dip was 90% Parmesan cheese....really? It was terrible!
The entire rating would have been 1 star if it weren’t for our server Lyfe!!! She was a solid 5 star and did all one person could do to minimize the overall debacle....had the appetizer not been the third strike of the evening her efforts and attitude would have elevated the rating to good.... But the to go order was the third strike!!!
Two people with no alcohol, no dessert! $178!!!
I would suggest going to other steak houses in Steamboat....
Solid meal with quality meats. Very good.
Very good food and service in a beautiful setting right on the Yampa River. The prices are high but its a ski resort town so that's how it is. The happy hour food is delicious and much more reasonably priced.
Everything seemed to go wrong. We ordered an appetizer that never showed up. Finally they apologized and said they ran out. Then once I received my filet it was over done. The server saw it and they got me a new one but it took a while and even it was not very flavorful. Ended up not eating much of it. Not worth over $50 for a steak.
In our experience, E3 has always been inconsistent, yet we keep giving them another chance. We’re done. Our weekday meal for four was a big disappointment. Our reservation was honored and our single drink orders taken quickly. We all ordered salads, Cobb, Caesar which came timely, but none of them were dressed well. We asked and received extra dressing and waited forever for entrees. The meat entrees were fine; Though I’m a meat lover, I had a vegetarian pasta dish that sounded superb but was inedible. It was lukewarm on arrival, the pasta so hard and stiff it couldn’t be chewed. I would have sent it back if our very nice server had returned. When he finally did, I told him it was inedible and he removed it from our bill. The other three in our party enjoyed their desserts, but the dining experience for salad, steak, baked potato took two and one half hours! The background jazz music was loud and frenetic- hardly appropriate for dining. It’s a lovely location, apparently with major kitchen issues. It seemed there were plenty of servers but several young girls (managers?) standing around chatting. No one ever made rounds at our table to check on our satisfaction. Our bill for four was nearly $400...what a waste.
Service was on it! Steak cooked perfect to temp.
Really enjoyed the dining experience.
How come no Porterhouse cut to choose from?
Excellent service at the hostess stand, the bar and at the table. Great experience
Awesome meal and even better dining experience. Ryan our waiter was fantastic. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
Great service from Lyfe, but totally overpriced! Shrimp cocktail consisted of 4 tails, minimal cocktail sauce on lettuce for $22 and steak prices that were all around $50. Sorry E3, but we won’t be back.
Food was awesome. Environment was awesome. Great place
E3 is our go-to restaurant in Steamboat , especially with guests. This visit on 3/2/19 was not up to par.
Our table was ready upon arrival at 730pm but our waitperson was obviously not. She came to the table right away but informed us that she would have to come back in "just a few minutes". She returned about 15 minutes later asking for our drink order. Way too much time left unattended offering what should have been done within 5 minutes of being seated. Our appetizers were sort of timely and lovely.
Once again there was an inordinate delay in taking dinner orders and again for dinners being delivered.
We love to visit but so many blips for this dinner I think that I should write this review. Dinner took much to much time and my guests were all polite but wondering what was going on.
I am guessing that there was a problem with service personnel being absent that might. Be that as it may be, the guests will be disappointed if this was their first visit. If there were not enough servers, the manager should have stepped in and assisted to insure a pleasurable dining experience.
This will not preclude our visiting again but I may look else where as well.
We live in Steamboat part of the year so quality dining experiences are very important to us. Thanks for your time.
Probably the most closest to any white tablecloth restaurant in steamboat. Exceptional food quality, however some of it wasn’t cooked to our liking. Being people that don’t complain, we enjoyed our dinner but not as much as we should have because it is a very pricey, so it should be perfection. This is the kind of restaurant you’d worry about ordering a second time for obvious reasons.
Compared to the steak houses of Chicago, not there yet
We didn’t receive some of the order, and when questioned, the one Server said well you have it on your plate, however people were splitting because they forgot items. (Baked potatoes). It was like they didn’t trust us that we didn’t get the item.
The pork chop was over cooked, however wonderful texture and obviously of excellent quality. The steaks were good overall, however medium was not medium it was closer to well done. Also the meals did not come together, so that is always something that means everybody is waiting for the last plate.
Lastly, we sat for 20 minutes at the table with water and no one came to assist us.
The presentation was lovely and overall the experience was considered very good.
It is very noisy due to the high ceilings and open dining area.
I would dine there again, after trying some of the other magnificent restaurants in steamboat. I try to go to an order of TripAdvisor numbers however, number one was not available, and we were told that private parties often take over the small restaurant.
E3 is very big, so there should always be room for you if you want to have Very nice dinner or craving a ‘quaility steak, their restauranteur story is very cool as well. Family ranch /all natural products
Marginal service, NY Strip and wine.
Charred the filet. The rib eye was sinewy hard to cut or chew. Waitress while friendly was somewhat overbearing pushing us to buy various items. The dining room was spacious with tables well separated but charmless.
Great food, decent service but the music speaker was right above our table and was turned up right in the middle of our conversation with nobody around to turn it down towards the end of our meal. It is also really expensive after adding family style sides.
Great food and atmosphere. Service could be a little stepped up (our server's wine knowledge and enthusiasm were humdrum for such a nice restaurant) but overall was fine.
This was our first time to E3 although we have dined at many other Steamboat locations. Steak was one of the best ever and everything we had was very good, including the service. Nice ambiance with just the right amount of surrounding conversation. Easy to carry on a conversation. It is quite expensive but you probably know that before you choose to go there.
Excellent food but very pricey Great for special occasion
Food was amazing. Service was excellent. We had a reservation and they were able to seat us early.
Excellent service even on a very busy 3 day weekend food quality was also very good
