E3 Chophouse Ratings and Reviews
The service and food have deteriorated over time since it opened. On this occasion we waited over 10 minutes after being seated before contact. The service was sporadic the whole evening. Drinks took exceptionally long to be served. The chicken was dry, the vegetable sides were all cold. The steak was good for one plate, though salty, the other steak order was improperly cooked and had to be sent back. For the price of the food here you can do better elsewhere.
The service was exceptional and the wine list extensive. A friend at our table ordered the prime rib which was done to perfection and tasted superb. Another friend ordered the veal which was a touch dry, but the rub on the outside was delicious. My husband and I split a ribeye for two. It was cooked to our specifications, and tasted fine, but for the price we expected more. The brussel sprouts are a must get and the wedge salad was delicious. We enjoyed our time catching up with friends in an atmosphere which lent itself well to conversation but was open and vibrant.
The trout was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Lobster Mac and cheese great. Disappointed that the Caesar salad was 3 romaine leaves and dressing for $10 and that the waiter didn’t explain that the special would be charged separately for steak and lobster. Beautiful view of river and mountain side.
First visit to Steamboat Springs and therefore first visit to E3. Although my companion enjoyed his trout, my very expensive prime rib meal was a disaster. Gristled, fatty E3 prime beef was seasoned with some mystery spices. Ordered a baked potato but when meal was delivered was advised only mashed potatoes were available. Mashed potatoes arrived luke warm. Manager credited for half the prime rib dinner. Not impressed with E3 beef, supposedly premium meat. I have had a better prime rib at Bonanza!
This is the second time we’ve dined at E3. I was hoping the first experience was an aberration but it was not.
Apparently I do not meet their qualifications to be seated in the main dining room as it was the second time I was seated on the back porch next to a portable heater. Since that seems to be the case, E3 does not meet my qualifications for spending $60 on a steak.
Additionally, I’ve had equally delicious $20 steaks at other establishments where I’m greeted warmly and proudly seated in the main dining room.
The mushroom martini was just plain weird. The best things were the sautéed mushrooms and mashed potatoes.
The wine selection was adequate- good. The service was good as well.
Excellent service by Necole! Very nice, reasonably priced wine list. Nice craft cocktails. The food is a bit overpriced, but it was good. We enjoyed the atmosphere. Would like to come back in the spring/summer to experience the open "garage" doors to have the open air experience.
We frequent E3 mostly during ski season and often to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The service was not as good as we usually experience. The food took a long time and some of the items were not warm when they arrived to the table. The waiter also made a mistake and overcharged us for the bottle of wine we bought by more than double. So glad we caught the mistake. Hopefully, it was just a bad night, because we love this restaurant!
I know from friends that E3 can deliver a great meal but it didn’t happen for us. The service was exceptionally slow in most every respect: slow to bring drinks, to pour the wine, to replenish the water, to deliver the deserts that were on the house due to the ice cold mash potatoes and to receiving the check which took 20 minutes after we asked for it
Most of the food was quite good except for the apple pie, but I expect much more for the premium prices charged.
My experience at E3 was less than expected from a high end steakhouse. It was New Years Day and there was not an overwhelming crowd. I had hoped to order the short rib, but was told they were out (first fail). The lobster bisque was thin and watery. We waited almost half an hour for our entree from the time our salad was removed from the table. In that time two other parties of two were seated after us and got their meals and were finished before we were served. After waiting, I asked to speak to the manager. A gentleman named Jason came apologized and said he would make it right. The steak was average and the meal was not at the level I expect from a high end steak house. The waiter offered us a dessert menu, but we declined. He then brought the check for $150 with no apology or compensation. If you work hard for your money, I suggest you spend it elsewhere
25min from wine glass order to wine glass served. Poor prioritization led to entrees out same time as apps. No steak knives offered for the two steak entrees ordered. Strip ordered medium rare came out very medium. No dessert or post dinner menu offered. Post dinner drink short pour. Server was weak, always after the fact and with increasingly sour attitude as night wore on - user interface definitely needed a tune up. We elected to spend a valuable vacation evening in your restaurant and were not treated appropriately; no excuse or response will balance. That said, Manager was absolutely superb. Alerted us to order mix up and comped apps and a dessert. Her involvement is why anything other than 1 star being provided here. Hostess was helpful with nice table.
I made this reservation a month prior, not last minute. We were put in the added-on room in the back overlooking the river, in the summer this would have been a great spot. We were put at a round table for 6 and we were party of 4 so table was awkwardly large. There was one other table in the room and it was a large party but they were not loud. When we sat down, it was like a sauna, we asked waitress to turn down the heat but with in a few minutes, we were all freezing. Although food and service was very good, we were never comfortable. We live in downtown Steamboat and were entertaining friends that had never been to Steamboat and this was their first night so it was a disappointing start. I realize Christmas week is the busiest time but they should not use this room in the winter. I like E3, I recommend it and will definitely go back, this was just not a good visit.
