E3 Chophouse Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant is very nice, but the quality of the food and the service was outstanding. Our waiter brought our drinks and allowed us to visit and peruse the menu before ordering dinner. He was extremely nice. Very attentive, but not overly so. The food was prepared as ordered and was excellent.
The food was pretty good. The service was OK at best.
Very all I’ve rthe place: either constantly at the table asking if each bite is great or no where to be found when you actually need something.
If you go here for your birthday, expect nothing different then a typical dinner with no “happy birthday” or desert or drink or really any acknowledgement in any way.
Hosted was a bit lost in what she was doing. Reservations were marked as “no show” until i mentioned that we are in fact sitting there having dinner.
Just an odd place. The location and ambiance is great! Wish the rest was up to the same standard as the location and style.
This is a very nice steak house. The food and service were top notch. E3 was quiet, but not very crowded, and so conducive to a good conversation on our special occasion. It will be interesting to see what it is like at peak season. Be prepared for a sizable bill.
I wish I could give higher ratings (I don’t want to give all 1’s though) but the restaurant was closed & empty when we arrived for our reservation. I hadn’t personally seen anything saying they wouldn’t be open & and no call to let us know. Not sure if this was an Open Table miscommunication or the restaurant’s, but it was definitely a birthday surprise for me. Luckily, Scratch across the street was open & got us in.
Perfect place! Delicious beef! Hubby had the $24 prime rib special which was excellent. I had the $25 three-course special with a sirloin steak and I loved it! Excellent service with David! Great locals’ specials! Yummy anniversary dinner! Quiet atmosphere! Reservations necessary. And one more thing: happy hour is the BEST! Try the French dip for $9 and have a local draft beer!
Decided to take advantage of Steamboat Restaurant week. Chose this because my husband is a meat eater and I only eat vegetarian or fish. Great choice! Seated right on time. Great room overlooking the river. Fast service but not rushed. Server Wyatt was very nice! I will go back here. Sorry, I am not into pork bellies :(. BTW, the wine was excellent!) Very nice!
We are locals and came here with another couple during Restaurant Week. There was a mix up with our reservation and a table already seated but she finally worked thru it. Our table was in the back corner which is less noisy but also less ambiance. Service was sub par and awkward. Servers showed up at the wrong time or weren't there when you needed something. The 3-course special is a good deal as long as you drink water and don't order anything else. Steak was okay but salmon was tasteless with portions too small for men. Two sleezy looking guys in suits, who are apparently associated with the restaurant, were circulating the room. They looked totally out of place for Steamboat. We had an awkward, uncomfortable conversation with the one who came to our table. We've dined here 6+ times since E3 opened but we won't be back.
Service here is sloppy and snooty. All involved talk down to you and rush you. For 3 people each of us ordered an appetizer, steak and side and they still tried to up sell us on more food and would not take back two of the overcooked steaks. The ambience is good if you are near the doors and river... but terrible when shoved in the back corner with no light.
We have been here several times when coming to Steamboat. Food is always excellent, but the noise level in the dining area close to the bar is annoying. We are a party of two, so we are often seated in this area. We have always received good service, but for the price paid, would prefer less noise. The restaurant seems to have a full bar every time we have dined here. Since it seems to be a popular place, I am not sure what could be done about the noise level.
While in Steamboat, we decided to check out the "street behind the main street." Wow, a nice sidewalk adjacent to the river. We noticed E3 Chophouse....amazing! Absolute perfect dining experience! Will return in January while attending MusicFest!!!

Overall, this is a solid, high quality establishment. The ambience is very nice, and there are quite a few good food options (although limited for non-meat eaters, but then again, it is a chophouse!). We had a nice time here, and the staff and manager was patient with our requests to not sit at the worst table in the house and to turn down the A/C that was blowing from a vent directly above us. I don't know why table 502 (I think that's the number), exists, unless they feel better knowing there's a customer located close to the fire alarms if needed :) Make every table a great one, I say.
The hostess station has been a mess from the very beginning and they are making no progress on making people happy. I made a reservation on Open Table, made a request for a table away from the bar - and where does the hostess try to seat us? Right next to the bar. I have never gotten a table with a view - even when the restaurant is only half full. Disappointing!
But the food is amazing, so we keep going back.... for now.
