Fried Kayle salad shushi rolls and pork bowl. All very good. Wine list could use a bit more selections
Make sure you get the Brussel sprout salad. I know, I know - I never was a big fan of the little green stink bombs as a kid either, but they flash fry them and you WILL love it!
We ordered a bunch of small plates and everything was delicious
Food was awesome and reasonably priced. Will be returning to try more dishes. Atmosphere was beautiful - live plant wall in the back! Staff were all friendly, Geddy treated us marvelously!
Really good sushi. With for my birthday and don't regret anything about. Food excellent service even better
Bathrooms were extremely dirty, soy sauce was used on a appetizer plate and service was slow. Usually I’m more impressed. Sadly the best part was wine and that is because the option we wanted was no longer available and had to choose a more expensive one.
Phenomenal food and service!
While the food was OK, nothing else went well. Extremely noisy, inexperienced waitress to start off. Drinks arrived slowly, one by one for our party of four. We ordered two appetizers , one for each couple, and the second one didn’t arrive until we chased down an assistant manager. The bill was incorrect and eventually they did give us a credit for some of the cost. All in all a frustrating experience and not what we would expect from E&O based on past visits there.
Every successful restaurant should have a signature dish or two that are crave worthy. A few weeks or months after my last visit here, I start thinking about the shaved Brussels sprouts salad and the Ahi Tuna Poke appetizer, neither of which I would have a clue how to make at home. So I return for these tried and true favorites and they never disappoint! Add a Mas Sake roll and you’ve got an excellent meal for two.
Thank you for your glowing review, Gigi! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
I have been there previously and the food and service were great. But this visit was disastrous. We were seated and waited over 1 1/2 hours and still did not have dinner. We had appetizers and drinks, but no dinner. We were given many different excuses as to the delays, but still no food. We asked for a bill and the manager finally came by and competed our bill. We went elsewhere for dinner.
Food was good but the service was horrible. Appetizer came after meal. Was told by the waiter they had to make a To go order so mine would be awhile! Had to ask for drinks multiple times.
They ran out of wine glasses, which I thought was a little odd for a Saturday night. But all in all it was great, as usual.
The brussel sprouts & kale salad is to die for and the salmon and asparagus was delicious. Our server was attentive and ensured we got the check in time to be off to the theatre! The only negative was that it was a bit loud and the tables were very close together.
This was a lovely restaurant with terrific food. I would have given it five stars, but our service was very slow. I believe there was only one server in the restaurant at the time that we were there and they were busy. She was lovely, but no one could have kept up with all of those tables on their own. Due to the number of customers, our server had a difficult time being attentive and people were clearly irritated. I would definitely go back, but I would hope that they make sure they have enough help.
The food was outstanding! Unfortunately the service is some of the worst I have ever received. Rachel T was our server, after receiving our food she never once stopped by to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything. Our drinks stayed empty throughout the entire meal without her ever asking if we would like another one. Food was great but we won’t be back
Amazing lomi lomi! Ordered a second portion after we inhaled the first one. Had to send tofu tacos back, soggy and lacked flavor. They took off our bill and gave us free dessert. Great dinners. Amazing brussel sprouts salad.
This was once one of our favorite places, but it has turned downward over the last year. At our last visit, the service has finally become unbearably slow. An hour to get a sushi roll? Longer than that to get one order of chicken tacos? And then another 20 minutes to get the second order of tacos that was ordered at the same time? And they were mostly empty.
The quality of the food has diminished. Our gyoza was burned on one side. The sushi was a mushy, tiny mess. The tacos just didn’t have the pop they used to have. The lime slices provided with them looked ready for the trash. It’s pretty easy to compare the food across time because the menu has been pretty static.
We were sat near the bar and could see that the bartender wasn’t busy, yet it took 30 minutes to get our first round of drinks. Because of that we didn’t order a second round. I will never understand restaurants tolerating a slow bar. That’s where you make all your money. Get the product on the table and sell more. It’s bar 101.
The interior of this restaurant is hip and beautiful. Very California-feeling. Love it. Except for all of the big screen TV’s playing football right in your face. Guys, you are not a sports bar. You are a place that should be great for romantic dates and upscale get-togethers. You are too cozy for big screen TV’s playing sports. It’s discounts your ambiance.
I hate to say it, but it feels like a restaurant that the owner doesn’t care about anymore. Maybe they think the lack of other options in Hyde Park plaza will keep them going, but I would point to Teller’s recent departure as a warning. Great location isn’t enough to survive poor food and service in Hyde Park. It’s not that far to better options.
We love E+O! Moved to Cincinnati 2 months ago from CA by way of E Tenn and the last thing I thought I’d find here was really great sushi rolls. Combined with a fusion menu that is amazing and excellent cocktails too, we’re hooked. During this meal we ended up sitting at a high top right under a corner speaker, so it was a little loud, but past meals have been at the main bar and dining room, and ambiance/noise was very comfortable. Keep up the great work E+O, can’t wait to be back...
The starters, small plates, sushi, and beignets were excellent. The main dishes were average. The fried rice main dish was predominantly rice and very little meat. The ramen was bland. Our server was nice, but it took some time to get service.
Server and vibes were awesome!
As always, E+O Kitchen delivered a fantastic, delicious, laid back experience. I went there with my parents for my birthday and they are really picky eaters. Still left satisfied and happy.
Last food, very good service ,nice ambience;what more can one ask for.
My wife and I have been to E&O several times over the past few years. This time, we thought that the food was OK, but the service was horrible. Our party of four arrive and we had no service for 15 minutes. When they seated a party next to us and served them their drinks, we asked their waiter where our waiter was, it turned out that the same waiter was supposed to be serving our table as well! The experience did not get any better as our waiter forgot to submit the entrée orders after he submitted the appetizer orders. Our biggest concern was that there was nobody from management ever talked to us. Either they did not know about our delays or they did not bother to address the poor service. The restaurant offered to comp our drinks, which turned out to be two beers since we had ordered a bottle of wine for the table and 2 of our party drank that In place of cocktails. It will be a while before we go back.
Drinks were on the stronger end - bartender was busy but was not content with cocktails
Wonderful from beginning to end.
The brussel sprout and kale salad it's like the best thing I've ever tasted
We had a great experience at this place, fun atmosphere and decor along with really well done cuisine. Our waiter was very knowledgeable, and for the amount/quality of food we got the price was not bad. They claimed best sushi in town, we had one roll and it was pretty wonderful. Minor negative detail, the bathroom was not in good condition, run down with an exhaust fan hanging and the toilet was old. It stood out since we were seated in the back room which had great design. Overall if you like Asian fusion food this is a top notch spot!
Food was amazing! BRUSSELS SPROUT SALAD!! Server seems a little flustered, we waited quite some time after appetizers to order entrees and then again for the check. Other than that it was excellent!
Had 2 vegetarians at the table. only 2 possible vegetarian entresz Would like to see more vegetarian options on the menu.
Have been several times. Come back for the Brussels sprout salad and chocolate mousse dessert. Excellent dishes! The sushi rolls are great! The ‘deal closer’ was delicious.
I wish there were a few more vegetarian options <3
Met work friends for happy hour. We had excellent service & the food was delicious. A++. Highly recommend.
Had a very enjoyable evening with friends. They say they store their red wines at cellar temp, but they don't. Okay-it can be chilled to 60F, but don't say you store it at that temp. Didn't have one of the wines on the menu. They offered a different one but slightly more$. I think I would have made if available for same as the one I asked for. That said, small issues. Food was very good and had a great evening with good service.
The food at E+O is consistently outstanding. Also a great selection of craft cocktails. Bottom line, if you haven't tried it, you need to.
Normally we are pleased with everything but this time the food was not very hot. Staff service was excellent, once again.
Excellent food - sushi and otherwise. Fantastic service
The server, Guy, was inattentive and paid no attention to detail nor guests needs. My drink glass was taken after one cocktail without being offered a second of which I wanted. He was at the table so little, myself and family didn’t have an opportunity to order another one. We sat around with empty waters and dishes after we decided we wanted to order another sushi roll. He only came back when we tracked him down and ordered more food. We waited around for awhile for our next roll and when he finally made an appearance, Guy stated “I hate to be the one to deliver bad news, there’s only one guy back there, sorry” and walked away. After waiting awhile more, we tracked him down again and canceled any more food we had coming and asked for the check as he had been there for almost two hours at this point. The manager was nice and apologized however, the lack of service outweighed any of the good food we had. Overall, bad experience.
Maybe this was just a bad night. Appetizers were tasty, but 3 out of the 6 entrees were brought out cold although they were supposed to be hot entrees. Entrees did not come out all at once but sporadically, and then... cold. My glass of wine was oxidized-- probably from being open too long-- undrinkable! They compted us for a few drinks because they could see things were messed up and, but overall experience was very disappointing-- was supposed to be a special celebration for a 65th bday.
Love the food every time I eat here!! The brussel sprout salad is always a favorite of mine, but everything on the menu is great! Make sure to ask if the fish/meat is served hot or cold because it can sometimes get confusing. Love to get dressed up and catch up with friends here!!
Great place. We go here every time we get a night out with out the kids!
The worst dining experience I've ever had. My wife and I were hosting friends from out of town and recommended E+O because we'd had good experiences in the past. We were really excited to try the brunch menu. Our server (I forget her name) greeted us promptly... and that's the only positive thing I have to say about our visit. She took our drink order when she greeted us. We chatted as we waited, drooling over some of the appetizer selections, and eagerly awaited our drinks and opportunity to order said apps. It never came. She didn't return for 25 minutes (I was checking my watch). I eventually got up and walked around the corner to see what was happening. I caught her on the way out the door, and she said "oh they're coming, our bartender was MIA." She didn't apologize. She didn't offer to come and see if she could get anything started for us. She didn't get a manager (was a manager even there that morning?). We waited another ten minutes and then left.
There were six other guests in the entire restaurant. Two of them were seated after we were, received the same type of service from the same server, and left before we did. I never did see a manager. Never got an apology. Our drinks were on their way to us (after 35 minutes) as we walked out, and I informed the young man that we were tired of waiting for those drinks. He said, "sorry, I'm not the fastest bartender."
Our entire party either does or did work in the restaurant industry. We would have been very forgiving had there been an explanation, an apology, a manager visit... anything. But there wasn't. Clearly, nobody cared about us. I will likely not be back.
