E&E Grill House Ratings and Reviews
We went here on a recommendation. Service started spotty when the waitress disappeared after bringing our water. She apologized upon her return saying she had to make 3 lattes which took some time, so that was appreciated.
My only complaint was the music playing in the dining area. It was so loud, that i almost went and asked them to turn it down a notch. If you are there on business (or even a date), you need to be able to hear the people across the table. They should consider this when blasting the music thru the speaker.
Overall, everyone enjoyed their meal.
Fabulous location and glad we saw the Coupon on our Broadway Show Tickets for The Book of Mormons. It's right across the street from the theater so it was so convenient. We made reservations and got seated immediately. We ordered the Burger and it was delicious and the waiter substituted the chedder for Mozzerella which was fabulous. Fries were so good too. My husband and I both loved it and could not finish as the portion was quite sizeable. We could have honestly split it as the table bread was quite good also. Great value for NYC and plan to come back . Nice that it was a moderately quiet compared to most during the Showtime hours.
had to wait a bit to be seated. Found sitting at a booth close to the door was a bit cold as the door opened and closed but when we asked to move, it was not a problem. Enjoyed lunch before going to a show. Drinks (try the oz-mopolitan) and food (burger and salmon sandwiches) were all great!
My husband and I dined at the E & E Grill House on Saturday Dec. 2. My husband enjoyed his hamburger very much. My eggplant parm and pasta was delicious, though a little salty. The biscuits were excellent. Our waitress was excellent and definitely enhanced our experience. The restaurant was fairly modern and attractive. This is a great choice for pre or post theater. We got 10% off with our theater tickets.
Our waiter went out of his way to make sure we had a special Thanksgiving dinner! The back room area had tables set up nicely for small groups. After we left the restaurant, our waiter ran half a block to return something we left at the table!!! Thank you E&E Grill!!!!!
We enjoyed a very nice pre-theatre dinner at E&E Grill house on Friday November 17th. We arrived and were immediately seated with our Open Table reservation at 6 p.m. We informed our waitress of our need to attend a show at 8 p.m. and she assured us that we would have no issues. Clearly, most of the diners in the restaurant were also headed to a variety of theater shows as well due to the restaurant's prime location on 49th Street. We started with the lobster cocktail which was a nice selection of tail and claw meat. We then enjoyed our two main courses. My wife had the lamb lollipops which were cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the 8 oz filet mignon which also was very nicely prepared. Each entree comes with a side dish that you choose. Both my creamed spinach and my wife's mashed potatoes were adequate but nothing to write home about. We finished our meal with a great Bailey's coffee which prepared us well for a night at the theater. The highlight of the evening was the surrounding diners who all joined in our pre-theatre tailgate as we prepared for the sounds of Bruce Springsteen on Broadway.
We found out about this place from our theater tickets, and it was in the perfect location, halfway between our hotel and our theater. (The 10% off coupon on the tickets was also an incentive.) It's a casual place that seems like it could be noisy, but our reservation was for 5:15 and we had asked for a quiet table when we made the reservation. We were seated in the back, against a wall, with few other occupied tables around us, and had no trouble hearing. We told the server right away that we were going to the theater and he was very attentive and the food delivery was prompt. We even had time for dessert, splitting a slice of Key Lime Pie, which was excellent. The salad with beets, pistachios and goat cheese was good if you could get some of everything in each bite, but the dressing on the greens alone was a bit bland. The Argentine beef with chimichurri was very tasty and tender, and the lamb 'lollipops' (four double rib chops) were so delicious on their own that we didn't use the sauce that was supplied on the side. The french fries that came with the beef were very tasty, as were the roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon that we chose as a side for the lamb. The portions were generous; we couldn't finish everything. It wasn't the fanciest or best pre-theater meal we've had, but we certainly enjoyed it!
I chose this restaurant because it is right across from the theater, but it turned out to be a great find. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly hostess, who understood we were chilled on a cold day and seated us in a warm spot in back by the fireplace. Our server was great, and cheerfully accommodated special food requests, which were prepared precisely. We had brunch, and it was delicious and served promptly. The background music was great Motown. Even though we lingered a bit after lunch, we were not rushed to leave. I would go back. If you are going to see Book of Mormon, make reservations here for both convenience and a nice meal.
Our group of 4 had reservations for 7PM but we showed up an hour early, and they still sat us immediately. Generally speaking, the food was very good, however, we felt the macaroni and cheese was a bit greasy, perhaps from the cheese? The Friday evening we were there, the music playlist was awesome 80s pop and R&B music played at a level that still allowed casual table conversation. All in all, a good experience.
I thought the menu was very limited, but I wanted a burger and I had it. It was delicious. I would not recommend this as fine dining, but we had just come from a show and my son wanted a steak and my husband and I wanted burgers so it was perfect. Service was great and I got a 10% discount from my theater tickets.
We wanted drinks and a pre-theatre dinner. This place was exactly what we were looking for. If you happen to be going to the Ambassador Theatre on West 49th, it's across the street and you can pre-order intermission cocktails and avoid the restroom line too! Food was really great and Brian the bartender was a very engaging and good bartender.
We decided to go light and ordered lobster bisque for an appetizer. The soup was hot and flavorful. Our entrees consisted of Grille House Salad and The Country Salad with grilled chicken. Delicious salads-fresh, crisp, and well proportioned. The key lime pie was kind of on the small side. However it was creamy and delicious. The house Riesling was a nice compliment. All in all a delicious meal for only $78.22. Great service from a waiter who remembered us from previous visits. Can’t beat the 10% theater discount.
The staff asked if we were there for a special occasion. It was my daughter's birthday. They brought over a complimentary piece of cake with a candle on it at the end of the meal on their on accord. I thought this was a lovely jester. I did feel that the cost of the ice tea and coffee were very expensive. Overall, we enjoyed our lunch there.
My husband and kids went there for a birthday brunch celebration pre-broadway show. The service was excellent and our waitress was attentive and friendly. The ambiance was serene and trendy. We asked for a dessert for the birthday and we were presented with the most decadent mousse cake with a candle. It was so good! The food was fresh, well-presented and delicious! Great experience! We will go back!
What a perfect pre-theater restaurant! My wife and I went here for dinner before Book of Mormon (5:30pm reservation for a 7:00pm show). I made a reservation ahead of time, noting we were celebrating my wife's 40th. When we checked in the hostess said right away "Happy Birthday!" We were seated promptly. Service throughout was perfect and pleasant. Food was tasty and plentiful. It was not crowded but reasonably full in terms of patrons. The ambience was quiet but they also had really good, contemporary (not pop though!) music playing which gave the place an up-beat vibe. Nice balance. To end the dinner, our server brought out a piece of delicious cake with a candle for my wife!! A total surprise, and they were kind enough not to charge us for it. This was a really thoughtful gesture and kind of summarizes our experience there. I never write reviews, but given how excellent everything was for us I felt compelled to do so. Don't hesitate to book a reservation at E&E, you won't regret it!
Staff was courteous and efficient. The biscuits and avocado toasts were delicious! Burger was ordered at medium rare, but was raw in the middle. However, the quality and taste of the beef was excellent. The grilled chicken on the salad was very good but the salad would have been better if it was made with mixed greens rather than iceberg lettuce.
