E&E Grill House Ratings and Reviews
Went to E&E for pre-show meal. Boy were we disappointed. Service was tough as we had to repeat our requests to the wait staff over and over. The Argentinian steak was over cooked as was the bistro burger. The risotto was bland and tasteless -- the whole reason was to taste the truffles and I think the chef left that out. It was bad enough to where the wait staff gave us 10% off and still not worth it.
Outstanding (!!!) service, especially by Hostess (she offered to take our cell phones and charge them, then brought back throughout meal so we could check messages). The food was fabulous and lots of food for the $$! First trip to NYC and will be back to E&E on next trip!!
We were extremely disappointed that Josh was no longer with E&E. He really got to know his customers and what they liked, so he was able to make excellent suggestions or bring you your favorite meal. He was also attentive and friendly, yet professional. Although Emily tried to provide us with someone similar in personality, frankly, it wasn't the same experience. I don't know if we will be returning as there are so many other options.
Sun 1:30 reservation. Restaurant very quiet. Excellent, courteous wait staff.
Brunch menu. Salad w/ goat cheese and pears looked beautiful! Granddaughter enjoyed it.
Chicken tacos good. Appreciated the discount because of our theater attendance!
Good spot pre theater.
Had high expectations considering the positive reviews. However, both service and food were very underwhelming. I ordered the marinated flank state. It had zero flavor and was somewhat fatty. It came with two different marinades on the side- one seemed to be some sort of balsamic marinade and the other was a steak sauce type of marinade. The balsamic one was ok. But usually I don't like adding sauces to my steak, especially if it's already juicy and flavorful. Since this clearly wasn't the case, the marinades were needed.
My daughter had the lobster roll, which was ok. A pretty small portion for the price paid, but that seems to be the norm for Midtown Manhattan. Would not eat here again next time I'm in NYC.
Enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly service in addition to the excellent food. We all tried the prix fixe menu before the theater, and it was a (comparatively -- this *is* NYC) great deal. I'd absolutely come to E & E again -- big YES for a recommendation!
We had a wonderful experience at E&E Grill House. We were visiting NYC for a special event, and chose E&E for its proximity to Broadway and other online reviews. We noticed the beautiful bar area and all the Broadway posters immediately. The service manager greeted us and found our reservation right away, and we had a great conversation about our occasion for visiting--- Hamilton! My excitement was through the roof and I very much enjoyed talking about it with her. I had the recommended "Happy Hamilton" drink which was yummy, and my husband enjoyed his Manhattan. The server took our order right away while we enjoyed our drinks and fresh biscuits. We ate light but our food was delicious, we wish we could have stayed longer for a full meal-- next time! Service, food, ambiance, all was wonderful. Thank you for such a warm welcome and wonderful dining experience on a special night.
Had the lobster bisque, it was burnt tasting and a bit fishy. Then the pea risotto with grilled shrimp. The shrimp were great but the risotto was mushy, over cooked and there was a pool of truffle oil poured over the top. It tasted like truffle and truffle only. Couldn't even taste the parmesan that was shaved on top. I love truffle but not when it's the only flavor.
My family went to E & E Grill House based on many on-line reviews. We were not disappointed. The daily special was excellent and everything that we ordered came out perfectly prepared and was delicious. We arrived at the theater in plenty of time after our meal and all of us agreed that our dining experience really made our vacation experience enjoyable.
In a word - disappointed. Went before theater event and had high expectations based on previous reviews. Part of the problem was they had several waitstaff assisting, but not good communication as to who was primarily responsible for the table. We were a party of 7, arriving at 5:30 for an 8 pm show so that we could have a relaxing dinner. The first problem was with the drinks. The first waitress brought 4 beverages within a reasonable amount of time and then we waited another ten minutes for #5. The hostess delivered the 6th drink 20 minutes later and proceeded to spil it on one of our dining party. The hostess made a comment "Better on you than on me!" She gave no apology, no offer to help clean up or offer of another drink. The final drink was for a glass of wine. First, they were out of that type of Cabernet, so we decided, why not just order a couple of bottles of a different wine because most of us were having wine with dinner. The bottles didn't arrive until after appetizers were delivered. Not too bad...however wine glasses didn't arrive for the table until everyone was halfway through their meal. The steaks were not the greatest. There was gristle in 3 of the 5 New York strips ordered. Noise and ambiance were ok, but not memorable. Would not go again.
Service and food were excellent and the fact that we did not have a theater engagement.. we got to enjoy the peace and quiet after the theater-goers left. Nice big booths as well as tables. The place is small but not too noisy (even before the theater people left). Great find on 49th Street... I'll be back.
Dined before theater with our family of four. We had a very good meal. The food was excellent, but our server was very aloof. She barely smiled during our time there. In fact, as we were leaving, we passed her standing at the bar and she didn't acknowledge or thank us. Not what we would expect from a restaurant of this caliber and a real turn-off.
The pricing of the prix fixe menu is confusing and deceiving. The steak was over-cooked. We asked for a larger table and the hostess told us that it was not available because they were fully booked. But there were plenty of tables available and it remained that way throughout our entire meal. In fact, we were the only party left about 15 minutes into our meal.
Food was fantastic. Had the lobster appetizer and it was perfectly done. also had the
Oz-mopoliton cocktail which was delish. steak was perfect. sautéed Kale was way too garlicy (only con of the meal.) And then the keylime pie.....it was amazing!!! Must must must have!!!!!!!
