Durant's Ratings and Reviews
Been here several times.... always a great experience .... took my date here and we had a fantastic time.... such a quiet and luxurious atmosphere ... we talked for hours and the service was excellent.... we were never rushed .... I will come here often ....
I have gone by this place, i don't know how many times and never stopped in. The food is awesome. The service is outstanding, our waiter/server was great. I'm running out of accolades for this place. The menu is short and straight to the point, wine list is large (not a wine drinker). Make sure you bring your wallet, it's not cheap. My girl and I had steaks done just right, potatoes and salads, and a bread thing that was very good. There was no room for desert. We went in the back way and the only suggestion I have is when leaving the kitchen to the dining room go thru the door on the right. The doors only swing one way, don't want to hurt your face. This place should get 6 stars in my opinion.
Durant’s is a classic steak house with gorgeous red booths and outstanding service. The waiters are world class. One of the things I love the most is that they do what fine restaurants in Europe do, which is wait until both people are finished until they clear away the plates. They don’t rush you and pull the plate out of your way the minute you put the fork down like most restaurants. This is a place with excellent professional service. It’s really fun when you walk in from the parking lot you actually walk through the kitchen and see The chefs preparing the food. It’s an amazing trip into the past when service and quality of steak was the most important thing at a steakhouse. The steaks are incredible. I also had the scallops and they were fantastic. I lived in Phoenix in the 1970s when I was a kid and my family would go to Durant’s all the time. It literally has not changed and the standard of excellence is the same if not better. Of course you will be paying a bit more than some of the restaurants but the service and the quality of the steak is also better than anywhere else I can think of in Phoenix. And you feel like you are in a time capsule movie set from the 1950s..like Frank Sinatra is about to sit at the bar. This is a must try classic if you’re visiting Phoenix. I really love the mid century decor... With the red flocked velvet wallpaper, red booths and the lamps.. And it’s a great place to go with a date. I love it!
We have always experienced a delightful evening at Durant’s and New Year’s Eve was no exception! From the moment we walk through the kitchen until we leave, the staff is always courteous, accommodating, and friendly. Our meals are always excellent - the prime rib for my husband and, this time, a pork rib chop for me....cooked to perfection! Our waiters always engage in friendly conversation and never cease to remember us when we come for dinner. We try to make it a monthly event! I highly recommend Durant’s!
Durant’s is our neighborhood gathering spot and we love to share the experience with our family and friends. We always start with a cocktail at the bar with Gail, she is an amazing human and mixologist! Our dinning experience was lovely and we had exceptional service by Becky and her waitstaff team.
I would have given this place 5 stars but considering we had a reservation and still had to wait 45 minutes to be seated is unacceptable! That is why you make a reservation! 15-20 minutes max is acceptable not 45! The place was packed and there was a line in the bar of people waiting to be seated!
The food is very exceptional! Old school steak house with a retro 50's interior, renovated and clean but not run down to my surprise for a historic place. Our waiter was very professional, friendly and accommodating. The martinis were the best but the champagne we ordered with dinner was warm. Considering it being the holidays, 2 bowl games in town and the entire city full of tourists I'll go back after high season!
I'm a Phoenix native and have always loved Durant's; the food has never been a disappointment and the wait staff has been professional and "spot on" every single time. On this visit, the restaurant was very busy. We had a reservation, but still waited about 20 or so minutes for our table to clear. That didn't bother us. You don't go to Durant's to eat; you go to dine. The Foodies will understand. Nevertheless, our waiter was very prompt and attentive. Our meal was delivered in a manner in which the cold items were cold and the hot items were hot. I've been to many restaurants when there busy the food seems to sit for a time before it's brought to the table. Busy doesn't bother Durant's.
If you're new to the Valley and have never been to Durant's or if you've been here as long as I have and you've never been or it's been a while...GO! It's truly a Phoenix gem.
Steak house with the ambiance of yesteryear. Chicken, fish and pork are on the menu as well. You will enter through their kitchen which is a memorable beginning to your evening. May I suggest ending your meal with their key lime pie, the best you I’ll ever taste. Bon Appetit
Durant's never disappoints! We went for Christmas Eve dinner, and the service was extraordinary for having a late reservation. The holiday decor was festive and looked amazing with the overall ambiance of the dining room. The prime rib was spot-on as usual! Always one of my top picks for special occasion dining! Always have loved Durant's! Looking forward to going back soon!
