Durant's Ratings and Reviews
Durants was an excellent experience! We have always wanted to eat there and Christmas dinner was a great reason. I highly encourage anyone looking for a nostalgic and authentic steak house to go. You will not be disappointed and will walking away experiencing a piece of historic Phoenix.
We have been going to this off and on during the 12 years we have lived here. Great service, spectacular food and always wonderful servers. When we think of something nice and a great steak it is always at Durant's. We actually just went twice in one week. Once for a spur of the moment lunch and then a planned holiday dinner. We will be back at least for our dinner in December of next year. They already know what table our friend likes to have because of the memory it holds for her.
Wow! From the moment you walk in the back door and are greeted by the friendly staff in the kitchen, you know you're in a special place. It's like Goodfellas restaurant scene, but no Henny Youngman to entertain you. But wait!!! We were serenaded by a pretty, talented quartet with acapella renditions of classic old Christmas songs! Big booths with classic 50s-60s decor and menu! My wife made us go twice on a four day trip. Seems like old time NYC or Chicago, but it's Phoenix. Unbelievable wine list! Pros like Kevin and Ron took great care if us. Very special experience. 51 years in business.
Oh Boy, words cannot convey our experience of Durants's.
My Wife & I dined here nearly 12 yrs ago to the date for a Holiday meal. We then had a graduation dinner for her for her completing the AZ Municipal Police Academy. Every year, plus or minus a month or so, we have dined at Durants for an occasion or so. Our latest was a dining and theatre occasion as a mutual Christmas present. Nothing but fabulous!
Durants is our "go to" place for fond memories and good food. It is 3 hours away from our residence but worth every mile!
Those who repose at the chains in Sierra Vista will never know the quality food and attention to detail at a quality steak house!

We went for the first time to celebrate our birthdays. The service was great and the food was delicious. You absolutely get excellent value for the price. We had the prime rib and it was fantastic. They were generous to give each of us a dessert on the house. We are looking forward to going again some time to try other dishes. I liked the way they served their bread although I would prefer a whipped butter option as well.
I would recommend this place to anyone. They offer free valet parking on site and the staff are all so friendly and welcoming.
The setting is quite warm and cozy and offers a peaceful ambiance where you can relax and enjoy your time.
Overall, an awesome steak house. I opted for the Chicken Picatta and ended up disappointed. The sauce they used was super thick without a hint of lemon. I also felt like the chicken was a tad undercooked. The mashed potatoes I ordered as my side were not even warm. However, my SO ordered the NY Strip and said it was out of this world. We ordered the spinach/artichoke dip for an appetizer and that was fantastic! The service was incredible and the ambience cannot be beat. The parking is in the back and was very easy to find. I will be back, but definitely not ordering chicken again.
Durant's doesn't disappoint! My lady and I arrived a half hour early for our reservation but were seated promptly in a curved, red leather booth. Our drinks were consistent with Durant's reputation for serving large, strong, perfect cocktails! The vegetable with dip munchies and freshly baked bread in a puddle of garlic and oil, both complimentary, put other restaurants, where we often sit with our drinks and nothing else edible is on the table, to shame. We shared an appetizer of blue point oysters which arrived with two cloth covered lemons and plenty of cocktail sauce to die for. What a way to have a happy hour and start a dinner! My lady ordered a large crab louie salad while I had a sirloin steak. Each entree was as appetizing as one could imagine and each was delicious. If it gets better than this, please let me know where. Be prepared to spend $100 per person to eat like this (including a half bottle of good cabernet) but also be prepared to get what you are paying for.
Durant's is one of my favorite places for a special date or occasion. I love the walk through the kitchen, everyone in the kitchen says hello and it smells wonderful. Food was delicious. Our waiter could have been a little friendlier but he was very busy and didn't check in with us very often.
Wow! What a delicious meal, from the best Oysters Rockefeller we have ever had to the delicious steaks and lobster and let's not forget to mention the amazing desserts. Durant's was top shelf! Jet our server was fantastic! Overall what a wonderful experience!
Went to Durant's for two folks birthdays. Was as usual a step back in time. Dark ambiance, red velvet wall paper, leather semi-circle booths and nostalgic photos all over the walls, if you are over the age of 40 it will take you back to those childhood special occasion steakhouses. From the iced raw vegetables on the table to the special bread and old school cocktails, it's all a reminder of it used to be. We had the usual fare; Fried Calamari and Shrimp Cocktail for appetizers. Caesar Salads and then of course Steaks. The Bone-in Ribeyes were outstanding served with Choice of Potato and of course vegetable of the day. Two others in the party had seafood; Scallops and Shrimp Scampi. For being in a land-locked state the seafood dishes were fresh and delicious. The service was attentive but a bit slow on the delivery. The place was packed and the bar was 2 deep all the way down. Left plenty of room for conversation in between course but overall still one of our favorites. We will go back time and again.
Durant's is a great place with a unique feel for the Phoenix area. All the food is amazing with the steaks being exceptional so I will definitely be going back. I would recommend it for a special occasion just because you would be hard pressed to get out of there with two people for under $100. A nice dinner for two with drinks and a good tip will run you between $200-$250.
Bone in ribeye is outstanding, every bite bursts the same amount of flavor. Strawberry shortcake is phenomenal, one of a kind dessert. Crab Macncheese is unbelievable, tons of flavor. Bar staff is awesome and drinks are made perfectly. Huge selection of liquor including top shelf scotch along with my favorite tequila Clase Azul. One of a kind dining experience, feels like a time capsule back to the 50s!
