Durant’s is a true friend of the community in which they have lived for decades. Stay well and we'll see everyone again soon!
Our server was
Wonderful experience! Lived up to what we had heard! Definitely will go back again for another special occasion!
Good as always. Never had a bad dining experience here.
Not sure how Durant's gets to be rated "best of Phoenix" so many years in a row.
From entering the restaurant through the kitchen which creates a breeding ground for bacteria to the old school dreary, dated dining room....not a palatable and welcoming environment.
Then the sticker shock of the menu.
$15-18 for iceberg lettuce salads?
$80 for 12 oz filet.
This is mainstay Phoenix, not New York City.
Waiter was ok. Food was under seasoned. When we said we couldn't have any of the potato choices as an included side, we asked for a vegetable. We were charged extra.
End of the meal we weren't asked if we wanted coffee.
Won't return. So many better choices in the area.
Great service by our Waiter, Jeff and the food was outstanding. The bottle of wine we had with our dinner, the Jamieson Ranch Vineyards Double Lariat Cabernet 2016 vintage was an excellent choice to compliment our steak dinner.
Durant's is THE classic fine dining restaurant in Phoenix. It has charm, wild history, a great bar and really good steaks, prime rib and fish. In my humble opinion, it is one of the best restaurants in Arizona (possibly the western hemisphere.
A must-experience hold over from a bygone error of dining. Truly the best steaks and seafood in town. You’re treated like royalty the moment you walk in through the kitchen. Yes you read that right, you walk in through the kitchen. The Service is impeccable, classic cocktails are done right, and the decor is straight out of a rat pack movie. It’s on the pricey side, but not so bad if you stick to appetizer and entree salads. Bread is complimentary, amazing, and they’ll keep bringing more.
Durant's is always a class act. Our go-to for special occasions.
We took a friend and his wife to Durant's for dinner last week. He wanted "the best prime rib", so that is why we chose it (reputation) The restaurant was fairly busy (especially for a weeknight) indicating a loyal following. Our drinks were served promptly, and orders taken. Our friend ordered a shrimp cocktail that never arrived, so we had it cancelled. Two orders of prime rib and two filets took a bit longer than expected, but they arrived. The filet for my wife, clearly ordered as "medium - red in the center", arrived medium-well (no red in center). We informed our waitress quickly, who promised to take care of it. So - we began dining, expecting a fairly quick replacement. After 20-30 minutes, we inquired why it qua taking so long, and were told that, since she ordered it to be cooked without butter or other oil, that a fresh one had to be cooked. Well - nice try, but it should have taken less than ten minutes to start from scratch (I grill steak regularly). Since we were mostly done with our other dinners, we asked that it be cancelled. Our waitress began to argue (fairly politely) with us! We then insisted upon cancelling, and she disappeared. The manager then came over, and did the right thing. He saw we were pretty well done, so he had her steak and vegetables packed to go, and comped the meal. He also offered all of us desserts. We tipped our waitress on what should have been the total, so she did not lose out. Bottom line - they cook a couple hundred steaks daily. Cooking one without butter/oil should be no big deal. At their prices (about $60 for a filet), they really need to get it right the first time. The waitress was out of line for arguing, but the manager did the right thing.
I have dined in fine restaurants across the country (and around the world). If you want to tout how great you are, you must meet some pretty high standards. I have given them four stars this time. We will return, but if the second visit isn't better, it will be the last.
Excellent as usual. Took my wife's parents there for dinner. They loved it. Great lamb chops, Oysters on the half shell, scallops and Durant's delmonico.
Too noisy and over priced.
Very good the mussels were to die for. The prime rib was so tender it melted in my mouth. We had a very good lunch today.
Durant's is a great old fashioned Steak House.
All good! No valet on Mondays however. Love the place
We loved it. This was our first visit. We split four courses so we could try many things. They cheerfully accommodated this and split every plate for us in the kitchen. We enjoyed every course. Our waiter's service was excellent. We definitely will be back.
As a frequent diner in the states & internationally, steak houses ( restaurants ) are abundant for example in NYC & Scottsdale, Az. Life is based upon " Utility Value". To order 4 Caesar salads which include Anchovies & be charged extra for the topping is totally unacceptable.
Meal, drinks & service was excellent. But value ? In the high rental district of NYC your entrance is not
through the kitchen. Question this entrance from a " Sanitary" aspect !!!!!!!!
Great place to celebrate a special occasion, Great Food and Service, just don't sit next to the Kitchen, very noisy.
Great food, great service, fantastic atmosphere where you always feel welcomed.
Really enjoyed our experience at Durants. Looking forward to our return in the fall.
Great service, wonderfully prepared food, served in a classic steakhouse environment! Wonderful for quite conversation, but perfect for a party. Highly recommend! Our favorite spot when visiting from Los Angeles. See you again, soon!
As advertised this is a classic old school steak house. Entry through the kitchen was cool. The steak was perfect. Good service and good wine list not too overpriced (I live in Napa so I know.) Pricey but a good overall experience.
We love Durants and am especially happy to be able to attend for lunch! What a treat for midday Friday to have a delicious martini and some excellent beef!! Beautiful REAL flowers, nostalgic ambiance and a staff that rivals any restaurant in town!
First time into Durants. And expectations were set quite high. Well, they delivered on every last thing one could think of. It was my girlfriend's birthday and we just made Durants our bday restaurant from here on out!
Well done to all involved!
Excellent service. Felt like a NY steak house.
Food was excellent! It’s a little pricey, but for the quality and the flavor it is well worth it. Of course, you are in an iconic restaurant so that matters also!
This place has a great vibe. The kitchen staff was cool and said thanks on the way out. Way cool.
Great is the best way to describe Durant's. A Phoenix mainstay for 70 years. Everything was perfect, Service impeccable. Highly recommend. You will enjoy!
Great food and drinks great service. Had a great time!
Service was top notch !
One of my favorite steakhouses. I have been coming here over 30 years and they never disappoint.
Excellent Food and Service!!
Our waiter Patrick was excellent.
Everything was fine but we asked for a quiet table. They put us in the main dining room. That was fine except we were next to a table with a screaming child. Edge was s as bout 1 year old. The parents didn’t do much to quiet the child down and it spoiled our dining experience. I guess next time we need to ask if there are any small children near our table.
Excellent meal. Great service. Great atmosphere.
Just the best always, the food and that bread omg.
The second noisiest restaurant I have ever been in. We were in a corner between a 10-some and a 6-some that spoke louder and louder because of the area and acoustics. It was almost unbearable. The food was good and the service was great. "IF", we go back, we will sit at the bar.
Excellent. Little pricey but worth it my wife commented on cleanliness, which it is rare for her to be impressed with.
Great everything, service food drinks .... but this is spendy ... worth it IMO but you are going to shell out bucks.
