My grandma and I wanted to try something new for our last dinner while she is here and I found Durante’s on opentable, and man we were not disappointed!! From our appetizers to dessert, to the ambiance and the service! 5 stars all the way and would definitely recommend and come back. (:
I met a friend for lunch there and was surprised that you can actually enter through the kitchen which was very clean filled with happy people making food. That's unusual in a restaurant. Our meal was delicious.
We had plenty of good conversation because there was low noise level and xcellent service!
we were treated like regular guest. the manager showed us the bar area and made recommendations for our next visit for seating. I like how the tables in the booths pulled out to allow easy access for all to get in the booth. also the manager and the waiter gave us a brief history of the restaurant and explained the gold plated shoes on display. I notices that several other tables were celebrating birthdays and it was nice to see young and old people in the eating area. over all the price of our dinner was lower than I thought it would be and they gave us a free desert for my wife's birthday. we will be back
Always a great meal at Durant’s!! We plan on spending many more evenings there!
Always a great spot for a business lunch. Food and service are on-point.
We had been planning to go to Durant’s for ages, and finally made it on a recent trip to Phoenix. It is an experience. Ambiance is old school...though no idea why they they have lenter through the kitchen. The service was spot-on, the martini was perfect, and the food was excellent. Be prepared to drop $200 plus for drinks and dinner, but you’ll surely go home with another meal, unless you’re s big eater! Our experience was dampened a bit by so many folks in shorts and sneakers, and one man in a baseball cap! You’d never seee that in a fine dining establishment in NYC.
Happy to go back to celebrate wife's birthday, had a great time and loved the food, ambiance and staff. Will go back many times more.
This was my first time here and I will go back over most of the steak houses in Phoenix.
We had amazing service! We are from out of town and we cannot wait to come back and eat here.
Excellent service. The streamed clams are wonderful. And the grilled pork chop grilled to perfection. Ask for Lonnie as your server
This restaurant is a Phoenix institution. The owners have maintained its historic integrity without being gaudy. Love the atmosphere - entry through the kitchen, velvet walls, tufted booths, and the treatment of guests with the utmost respect. David was our server. Though busy, he took the time to fill us in on the fun and amazing history of the restaurant which made the experience that much more fun. It’s old school in that they actually serve healthy portions and nothing we had was a la carte, as is the trend in most steakhouses these days. Fun place to bring your out of town guests!
Lonnie is AMAZING!! The best server ever! So funny, and very attentive! The prime rib is perfection!!!! Definitely one of the best of the best places in Phoenix!!!
A great dining experience . Will return often. Gordon
Enjoyed dinner on my June birthday so much that we went back 2 weeks later! A bit pricey, but cheaper than other steak houses. We tried 8oz filet, 12oz ribeye, and 12 oz prime rib. All cooked as requested and great! New York cheesecake is another staple for us at Durant's now, and both times the wait staff have been great.
We were greeted as soon as we entered the kitchen entrance, seated quickly, water and menus, then oredered drinks from the bar. All took short period of time. Dinner was great, very tasty, cooked to our desired results. We then had the strawberry shortcake for two, very tasty. We will be back again.
greatest steak house in phoenix!!! have been eating at durants for 50 years, the best bar in phoenix.
i eat at durants 8 times a month. you won't go wrong.
Jet our waiter was wonderful and on the spot. The staff was great and attended to all our wants and needs. Great place and Phoenix classic!
GREAT steaks. Outstanding service. Nice wine selection. A little pricey.
Great 22oz ribeye, service was rather slow. Don’t order the twice baked potatoes. Terrible!! Like caulking compond. Probably won’t go there again.
Recommend by locals that this was a staple in Phoenix. Back door entrance was a little different but if you understand the history of the restaurant...you understand why. Kind of cool. Although we had 9:30 reservations, we arrived early but no problem sitting us. From beginning to end top notch service. All steaks and rib eyes delicious but shrimp bisque a little too salty. The restaurant atmospher gave us old time classy feel. Both family/casual and formal attire accepted
Wanted something special for our anniversary and was not dissapointed . Started off with bread with leeks, olive oil and butter and relish tray. All the salad dressing is homemade. We both had the Top Sirlion prepared to perfection, sliced like butter. And the complimentary strawberry shortcake for two, sprinkled with chocolate bits was delicious and cool for a hot June evening, thank you so much for making our anniversary so special. The atmosphere was the best part. I could amagine Frank and Dino sipping martinis in the corner, just a cool sexy place in red .
We went there to celebrate a birthday and our group was flabbergasted by not only the courteous staff, but the amazing food and martinis. I couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience. Two thumbs up for our wonderful server! He was incredibly courteous and personable.
Kevin did his normal wonderful JOB and look forward to our next visit
I've been enjoying Durant's since the early 80's and it is dependably great. It's probably the last restaurant in Phoenix of a gone by era. But like the Valley Ho in Scottsdale, it remains at the top of its game. Where else can you have your car valet parked and then walk through the kitchen to your table?
It is soooooo expensive. I don’t care that they give you a mixed greens salad and baked potato. $75 for 12 oz. filet is absolutely insane.
Great as usual.
My girlfriend and I had our anniversary dinner here, and it was excellent. Very quiet, out of the way place but the food and service was excellent! We were surprised to find that the bill was under $80 for the two of us! The interior design was stunning maroon from floor to ceiling. Really great night.
was very pleasant and food was great and appreciated the strawberry shortcake that they gave us for our 50th anniversary
The waiter Marchello and management were Amazing. The food was delicious.
Favorite restaurant for a special occasion....excellent ambience, friendly efficient service, excellent foodand wine list. The filet migion and Humble T-bone steak were grilled to perfection, baked potato and salad were very good. Complimentary strawberry shortcake was awesome!
Wonderful dining experience! Steaks were incredible! Oh, and the strawberry shortcake was to die for!!
We were welcomed the moment we entered through the kitchen ( a unique experience in itself). All of the staff was warm and made us feel special. The food was excellent. This is go to place a for a great steak. We sat on the bard and they were putting out some really great looking cocktails. THE BREAD!! Wow! We had peach cobbler for dessert that was wonderful. A bit on the pricey side but a really great meal! Check it out!
I almost feel bad writing this review because I feel like I am the only one who is not impressed by Durants. They give you a small plate in the beginning that has a raw green onion with ice and a couple other vegetables. I find this very tasteless and unappetizing. Because I prefer to order fish when it is available, I ordered their trout. It was pan fried with absolutely no seasoning (no even basic s$p.) I felt like I was forcing myself to eat it because I ordered it. It could’ve came with a brown butter sauce, with lemon, or anything else to amp it up, but instead it came with tartar sauce which is a very unusual thing to put on the side for a pan-fried fish. My side was the rice pilaf, which was just as good as the ones that you can probably buy in a box. Overall I felt like my meal should’ve cost three dollars but it was seven times that amount. My husband says that because I went to a steakhouse and ordered fish, I really have no right to make this review… However, if you are going to offer certain things on your menu you might as well make sure that they are up to the standards that your restaurant is supposedly at. He ordered the prime rib (which he said was delicious. ) Last time I went I ordered the scallops, and they were ‘okay.’ We then ordered the Tiramisu, which in no way, shape, or form should it have been called that. It was the worst dessert we’ve ever eaten. I will not be going back unless they change their food quality or I get just a cocktail. I was embarrassed for them.
Food is always amazing. Terrific service — there when you need them, not when you don’t. Great meal and great wine!
My favorite oysters Rockefeller is here. Best service in the valley too.
We've never had a bad experience here. Consistent. Dependable. Always delivers with Style.
Expensive, however, love the atmosphere, attentive staff, incredible food! I live in the Valley and had forgotten how Durant's is truly a classic place.
Daughter in town
The food here is always great. If you have a steak, ask for an order of the mushrooms. It’s not a full experience without the pair. The prices are steep so we don’t go often, but the quality of service keeps us coming back. I can’t say enough about the professionalism and expertise of all the staff that work the table. If I’m going to spend a lot of money, I want to be treated like royalty. Durants never disappoints.
