We were in the area and looking for a new restaurant to try. Open table picked this a place to try, and we were glad we did. Met the owners and had a fantastic experience, we will be back for sure!

Meet some good friends there and we once again enjoyed a GREAT dining experience...great selections (healthy), fantastic specials, good service and really a nice place...washrooms could use some remodeling but otherwise quaint and a perfect sett8ing.

We have been to the DBI several times and enjoy the atmosphere and menu. Last night however the service was not up to par. Little things like having to ask more than once for water and ice tea refills when the restaurant was not very busy prevent me giving it more stars. The server was very pleasant but never asked if we wanted another glass of wine. We had to listen to another server get upset when the patrons were not getting the extra bread they asked for-he was very unprofessional.
The meals were very good. My prime rib did not arrive with the horseradish or the butter and sour cream for the baked potato so the server had to go back to the kitchen.
It is a lovely spot in the woods with nice staff overall but really needs to improve on the “ finishing touches” to be a five star restaurant.

Duneland Beach Inn is an old family favorite. In the past year, food service has been uneven. Therefore we were very pleasantly surprised with the current menu and its combination of old favorites plus some innovative additions. The guys really enjoyed their ribs; the ladies selected the shrimp appetizer (wonderful and tangy sauce) and the riced cauliflower with shrimp added. Service was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the evening very much.

We discovered Duneland Beach Inn while staying in Michiana Shores and fell in love with the Inn and restaurant. They have a wide selection of items on the menu that can appeal to most appetites -- from sandwiches, wraps and sales - to more fine dining like steaks, fresh seafood etc. We took advantage of a prix fixe menu which was a great value. The restaurant was fairly quiet on a Thursday evening before the Memorial Day weekend and we enjoyed the quiet dining but would love to come back to a more vibrant hour.

We had a party of 7 for a birthday celebration. They let us take our time and put us at a fireside table that had plenty of room. The food was excellent for Sunday breakfast. Everyone liked their dish and how many unique choices were available.

We have heard about this place for many years and never actually made it there. This time we decided to give it a try to our total disappointment. The Duneland place is poorly organized the food is just basic. There’s absolutely nothing special about it.

Service is slow and confusing. Many people are moving around the space but don’t seem to be very productive.
It took us over 20 mins just to place our order.

The food seems to mostly be pre packaged or frozen. The menu it limited and lacks any type of creativity. Out of our three meals everything was just blah. During our visit the vegetable was broccoli, when it was served it was transparent and mushy.

Many better places in the area, the cost is too high the service is clunky and the food is nothing worth the visit.

Have been occasional diners at Duneland Beach Inn and have always been satisfied with our food and service. The most recent occasion was for a birthday dinner and we were again pleased with the overall experience. The drink offerings are excellent and the menu offers plenty of dinner choices with additional evening specials. I placed my reservation on-line and mentioned that it was for a special 80th birthday. At the conclusion of dinner our server appeared with a generously sized birthday cake with a candle. I didn't even have to remind them of the occasion! Very impressed by the service.

We have dined at the Duneland Beach Inn for holidays several times. We thought the food this time was not as good as in previous visits. We were there for Easter . Three of us had ham, which was dry, one the grouper, which had a strange crust on it, and one had the prime rib, that was excellent. Service was great. Just need to take the food up a notch.

Fantastic. Everything done to perfection.
Selected for our Easter dinner as we wanted to do something nice. This is one of our favorite places. Always bring out of town guests to the Duneland. Worth the drive from South Bend.

One of our party ordered the lake perch and when tasted, it was off, like starting to spoil. We reported to our waitress and she returned it to the kitchen. in the mean time since the rest of the table had meals, we shared our chicken with the impacted person and told the waitress that they did not have to remake it, we would just share the other meals. She did offer to bring asparagus side for the impacted person. All of that was okay, it happens.
What was disappointing is that they charged us for the meal and took of $8.50 for dissatisfaction of of the $23 for the perch. When i mentioned this to the waitress, she took it back to the manager or whoever, they changed it to $11.50 off. If we did not get to enjoy the meal (and mult people at our table tasted it with the same opinion of the fish) why would they charge us for it at all. It is not about the $11.50 they still charged us, it is the principle. They lost customers that drive from south bend to have dinner there.

This restaurant is consistently a nice place for dinner. A bit pricey but the atmosphere is casual and warm. This time of year the fireplace offers a lot of ambience. Its quiet and the service is good. Something that is often missing - servers either hovering or missing. The atmosphere makes it a good place for discussion around the table. I have found the food on several visits to be dependably good. I recently had their pork ribeye while my wife had their crab chicken. Both dishes were very good while the volume of food was sufficient. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the Michigan City area.

Normally good food so we decided to try last minute for New Years Eve. One of us had beef wellington just average in taste and the other Prime Rib (very bad) which tasted like it had been beaten to make it tender. The consistency was awful. It was not Medium Rare as ordered. Took it home for son to try and even he didn't like it. Not sure what happened this night but not our best meal ever there. The staff is always very nice and it really is great ambience. We will try again but a little disappointed for such a nice evening.

Went on a Friday evening with my dad who is hard of hearing - he thoroughly enjoyed the quiet and lack of background noise. We did fix pris menu, which was a nice meal at a value price. My husband got the mussel dish and found it to be so-so. Carrot cake was delicious, but have been taken out of refrigerator 30 min before serving.
