Went with 2 friends for brunch yesterday. One of them was running a little late so I guess that means we didn’t need water or greeted for the 20 mins until he showed up. Our waitress was not tentative at all, we ran out of water and drinks multiple times that we even flagged down the other waiter at one point. The worst was that there was maybe 5 tables full for the whole restaurant! An 8 top table that order after us got their food before us and when we asked our waitress about it she stated the kitchen had caught fire and they thought they would have to call the fire department but didn’t. Our food was missing hash browns and vegetables and over easy eggs were done to hard but by that point we had given up! Still had to wait for the separate checks...that took another 30 minutes for her to figure out at we each had two drinks and a brunch entree. Overall our experience was terrible and I would not recommend it to anyone!
We had a young man as our server we had to wait for everything. All he said to me and my wife was he was dealing with a bad customer. The Food was Great
Not the first time this restaurant let me down. We were seated for over 1 hour before we got our bread and over 2 hours before we got our meal. Had to chase owner down who was avoiding all the chaos in the dining room. No attempt at damage control until waitress brought us a desert at the end to share. Terrible management in this fine little neighborhood gem!!
I am sure we will return even though there were a number of issues. Our table seemed to have fallen into a 'black hole' --everything, from our first drinks order to the bread took forever. In recognition of it they offered us an additional round of free drinks, which we appreciated but we couldn't really enjoy fully since we were so hungry we felt we needed to be careful with alcohol. It also impacted our plans for the evening, since the dinner took at least twice as long as a normal dinner would. On the whole the food was ok, a tad on the pricy side. The next morning at breakfast our food was also very slow to arrive, although the breakfasts were very good and quite substantial.
Nonetheless, the staff were friendly, welcoming and apologetic, the setting great, and one of our party felt their meal was excellent. The pluses were enough that we will be happy to give it another chance and hopefully they will hire more staff
We had a great time, as usual best customer service, best food in a town and great atmosphere. A neighborhood gem, srounded by beautiful tress. Best of the best in Long Beach and Michigan City, Indiana.
Woodsy setting, cloth table clothes. Just a nice quiet place to chat with friends and enjoy
a good meal. Omelet was overcooked but was edible.
No interest in going back. Service was slow. Repeatedly needed to ask for things. Ribs were good. Prime rib was rubbery. Filets were over cooked. Glad we had a sense of humor and were with good friends...
Amazing Inn and restaurant tucked back in a neighborhood. Scored a table on the lovely, romantic patio! Great wine, craft beer and cocktail menu. All food choices looked inviting and we enjoyed our dinner. Will definitely visit when we come to this area again and hopefully spend a couple nights at the Inn!
Excellent dinner! Great find in the area! Steak and fish were delicious as was the dessert.
For the price, the portions are small, and somewhat tasteless. The dessert was AMAZING. We don't normally have complaints at restaurants, but we had several issues here. Our server did a good job trying to help fix the issues.
Very nice restaurant great food and selection. Only complaint was drink prices were a little to high for us.
Cocktails before dinner were great, dinner service was HORRIBLE! We had six in our party, two orders were wrong, two orders were inedible. A restaurant with meal prices at $32 to 38 a plate the FOOD AND SERVICE was unacceptable.
1. Cold gray colored prime rib
2. No blue cheese crust on NY strip
3 restaurant ran out of baked potatoes and took it upon themselves to substitute with cold mashed potato without mentioning it to my guest
4 service was amateur slow and server tried to shrug all of this off
When manager arrived at our table she saw the mess and comped our food along wit giving a couple of gift certificates, but our evening was RUINED. The couple meals that were OK we felt guilty eating because the bad ones.
McDonald’s and White Castle did benefit.
We had a very nice dinner outside and then enjoyed a drink and conversation at the bar before heading to the beach for sunset...perfect evening!
We wanted to love this place but sadly it was a really bad experience. I don’t write many reviews but I would not want anyone to waste an evening at this place. The restaurant was moderately busy and service was painstakingly slow—took about 20 mins to get 2 beers, 1 glass of wine and a simple martini. Took almost 3 hours for a basic dinner (second round of drinks was equally slow). I ordered their specialty fried chicken and the menu says to expect a 20 minute wait (no problem), about 30 mins later our server came by to say there was a mix-up in the kitchen but it would be out in 5. Another 20 mins goes by and it comes out with the wrong side dish. Our server was apologetic and went back to get the correct side. I cut into the chicken to find it RAW. By now our server is back to tell me the kitchen switched the side because they were out of what I ordered. At this point, I ended up splitting my friends horribly over cooked white fish. Everything was over-cooked (except the chicken), salty and not worth the Chicago prices for mediocre food (dinner for 4 was $250 not including my entree which was taken off the bill) server was very apologetic and kind, but It was also clear she was not trained and not getting any support for service recovery. We had other friends dining at another table and they had a similar experience. Their 2nd drinks never came and they finally had to walk to the front host stand to get their check. BUMMER. It’s a cute little place but we won’t be back.
HORRIBLE experience! One hour and 25 minutes after being seated, our entree still hadn't arrived. We got up, went to the front desk, laid a $20 bill on the desk, and said "We're leaving." Four staff were there, and they barely blinked an eye, like this was a common occurrence. No one said a word to us. Shameful way to treat customers.
I would prefer to provide a private note to the restaurant only.
Stayed the weekend and loved it. Food was great although the staff could use some polishing. Felt awkward like everyone's first day. Regardless they were all super nice and genuine.
Friendly server who seemed overwhelmed. Food was better than last few times dining here. Menu much friendlier to seasoned palates. No more risotto with every entree. Brought back the baked potato option.
Lovely, quiet inn in a lush, green neighborhood. Ordered the yellow perch, which was very good. However, I do not recommend the pasty crabcakes.
Awesome dining. Great and friendly service. Menu was great as I was dieting and found the seafood with minced cauliflower perfect and delicious. All my friends had steak cooked to perfection. Ambience was very cozy.
We love the food, and everything we have ordered is consistently good. Our only issue at times is the slower service. This last visit was much better, but at times, the servers are not attentive. The food is made to order, so it definitely takes longer, but it’s worth the wait!
Service slow considering a near empty restaurant fault was bartenders and kitchen
Prime rib very dry otherwise food ok restaurant seems to be living on reputation does not seem to care
I have always liked dune land beach inn. But something has changed I don’t know if they changed hands or new management. The menu has changed very pricey and the perch was over cooked. The food was a disappointment. We were there during the holidays and it was better and different. Something has changed
Very disappointed. They were closed. Called them the next day. They said they had a busy weekend so they closed for a couple days. There were no signs on the door RE: being closed. I called the following day. A woman wasn't apologetic about inconvenience. Doesn't look good for them or open table.
Everything was very nice. Great service.
We were in the area and looking for a new restaurant to try. Open table picked this a place to try, and we were glad we did. Met the owners and had a fantastic experience, we will be back for sure!
Meet some good friends there and we once again enjoyed a GREAT dining experience...great selections (healthy), fantastic specials, good service and really a nice place...washrooms could use some remodeling but otherwise quaint and a perfect sett8ing.
We have been to the DBI several times and enjoy the atmosphere and menu. Last night however the service was not up to par. Little things like having to ask more than once for water and ice tea refills when the restaurant was not very busy prevent me giving it more stars. The server was very pleasant but never asked if we wanted another glass of wine. We had to listen to another server get upset when the patrons were not getting the extra bread they asked for-he was very unprofessional.
The meals were very good. My prime rib did not arrive with the horseradish or the butter and sour cream for the baked potato so the server had to go back to the kitchen.
It is a lovely spot in the woods with nice staff overall but really needs to improve on the “ finishing touches” to be a five star restaurant.
Met friends here for a casual dinner. Enjoyed soup, salad, vegetarian and fish entrees. Good service, quiet ambience, would definitely recommend!
Great cozy dining experience, service & food were good, ambiance was great, just a really relaxing and enjoyable dinner. Exceptional wine list, best in the area.
Great setting we ate outdoors under huge trees soft music and great food what else needs to be said!
Duneland Beach Inn is an old family favorite. In the past year, food service has been uneven. Therefore we were very pleasantly surprised with the current menu and its combination of old favorites plus some innovative additions. The guys really enjoyed their ribs; the ladies selected the shrimp appetizer (wonderful and tangy sauce) and the riced cauliflower with shrimp added. Service was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the evening very much.
We discovered Duneland Beach Inn while staying in Michiana Shores and fell in love with the Inn and restaurant. They have a wide selection of items on the menu that can appeal to most appetites -- from sandwiches, wraps and sales - to more fine dining like steaks, fresh seafood etc. We took advantage of a prix fixe menu which was a great value. The restaurant was fairly quiet on a Thursday evening before the Memorial Day weekend and we enjoyed the quiet dining but would love to come back to a more vibrant hour.
This restaurant is one of kind, always great service, great food and very welcoming staff. It is very reasonably priced, beautiful atmosphere and srounded by beautiful trees.
Lovely ambience....when weather permits the outdoor dining is a great option...always good food
Wow, food, atmosphere, wait staff, hostess all were outstanding. We travel to Michigan most weekends and meet friends for dinner and looking for a new place! We found it... perfect and priced moderately. Thanks Open Table for helping find a quaint outstanding experience!
From the moment we walked in the staff was so friendly. The waitress so helpful no rush a cocktail before we ordered she made great suggestions the soup was great main so filling and the desert we had to take to enjoy later. Can’t wait to share to experience with family and friends.
It was our 34th Wedding Anniversary, our Wedding Reception was at the Duneland Beach Inn. Had a great meal with great service.
