Enjoy creative seasonal fare at Dune. Its upscale setting in sophisticated and wonderful for dining out with a date or an old friend. Owner and chef Michael Getter has created an atmosphere that's warm and inviting. Dune's interior features three different dining areas and a quartzite bar. Its menu offers appetizers like foie gras with a pistachio crust, rabbit confit and roasted Nantucket oysters. Guests can feast on a main course of wild boar ribs with a lime vinaigrette, sautéed salmon or a grilled sirloin steak with a basil potato purée. This resturant also serves a vegan and vegetarian tasting platter, as well as desserts.

Dune features patio seating for guests to relax and converse. It has an extensive wine list with international selections. This restaurant also hosts private celebrations.

Always loved Dune. Sadly, it has taken a turn. This last visit during the Christmas Stroll was a harrowing experience. If you must go be advised to confirm, reconfirm, and re-reconfirm your reservations especially if you requested a table upstairs.

This place is way overhyped. We were there during Restaurant Week so what I ordered was a good value but taste and texture wise it was a hot mess. I expected a delicious gourmet meal but what I got was so much less. Needless to say the coffee I ordered with the desert course was the best thing I had.

Not sure why it is so highly rated. Unique preparation of food. Some work. Some don't. Small sizes. High prices. Wanted extra special for my husband and my birthday. Disappointed.

We came for our anniversary dinner. The ambiance is very nice, not too noisy. Our waiter was very good, just not great. The food was fabulous. Everything delicious, prepared just right and appetizingly presented. We recommend Dune highly! Call for a reservation for sure.

The food was excellent. The other diners were awful. We were surrounded by people who were drunk, speaking aggressively, taking cell phone calls and using flash photography. Turned a special evening into one where we just wanted to leave and go to bed. The servers were great too, but we didn't get much attention since we weren't high maintenance.

Great dining experience. Best Halibut I have had......and prepared exquisitely.
The atmosphere is very casual but elegant. Wait staff attentive without being overbearing.

One of the most varied menus I have seen on Nantucket. I was glad swordfish was on the menu- it was very good served on fresh vegetables. The beet salad tasted as good as it looked, as did the house salad. Our friends had the halibut and the lamb shank and enjoyed both. Service was good as well. Wine list was reasonably priced. A nice evening.

Recommended to us as having the best seafood on the island but I found the experience disappointing. The food was superb and I enjoyed the excellent choice of local vegetables and seafood. Unfortunately I felt that I was not important enough for our server to be interested in our having a good experience. The adjacent table also felt similarly. Our server gave most of his attention to a table where he was familiar with several of the group. The wine list was varied and had some great choices that were not too expensive.

Dune offers creative cuisine that tastes as good as it looks! The tomato salad was delicious. The tomatoes were ripe and fresh. The softshell crab was the most outstanding item! It was served in a giant bowl and prepared with an Asian influence. The ingredients included noodles, cashews, carrots, peas, and ginger. The shrimp were served with noodles, pistachios, and cabbage. However, there weren't enough shrimp in the dish for the price. Although we loved the food at Dune, the room was absolutely freezing. The air conditioning was set way too high, and the restaurant could not control it. We felt like we were in Alaska. Our arms and legs were stiff and felt like ice cubes .

This is a bit of an overrated restaurant. The food is just average and the place needs a complete redo. Do not let them seat you in the smelly alleyway downstairs, it is not suitable. The remainder of your night will be a high priced, average quality food experience. Best to mosey on down to the restaurants on the wharfs or just skip dinner this time. You will thank me later.

Everything about this restaurant is excellent.
Although the food was outstanding, I thought it was quite expensive. The service was very attentive and the outdoor dining was a nice surprise.

Everything was lovely. My vegetarian husband got the vegetarian tasting late and was very happy with it - unusual for him because often vegetarian dishes are made with lots of fat and cheese. This wasn't - it was veggie-heavy and perfect.

I got the soft shell crab which was listed as MP. It was wonderful - 2 softshell crabs very lightly breaded, crisp and over a very interesting and tasty dish.

Our only complaint was the MP ended up being $48! For 2 softshell crabs! This price is ridiculous, even for Nantucket and compared with comparable items on their menu such as tuna. My advice would be to ask what the MP actually is before ordering. Other than that, enjoy!

A bit disappointing this year. We have ben coming to Dune since it opened. The prices have jumped quite a lot since last year. Also, when the restaurant called me to confirm, I told them we needed a booster seat. When we arrived they told us they did not have any. Had we known, we could have brought our own booster seat. This really inconvenienced all of us as our granddaughter could not be part of the dinner since she was stuck in her stroller. If they don't want children they should have told me when they called to confirm.

We chose the restaurant based on their online menu. When we got there, they told us the menu had changed a few days before and that they had none of the dishes we were hoping to order. We also asked for a bread basket with our dinner and were told they don't serve bread. Seriously??? We asked for toast with our carpaccio, still no luck. Food was mediocre and expensive offered under the guise of creative cuisine.

We had an excellent experience at this restaurant and it is easy to see why this establishment shows up on one travel site as one of the highest ranked restaurants on Nantucket. Superb service, excellent cuisine and attention to presentation...highly recommend.

I chose this restaurant because it was rated as the "best in Nantucket". However, that was not my experience.! The room was so noisy that we could not carry on a conversation ( and we were a table of four). Our enjoyment of the food was inconsistent. I had the gazpacho and it was delicious. However, my main course of soft shelled crab was on a bed of vegetables (supposedly a japanese flavor)but this combination was not to my liking. Two other members of my party had fish, and although well prepared, the portions were small. Also, this restaurant did not serve bread, even upon request and the mussels appetizer would have been much better with the dipping bread. The check for four people came to approximately $500, that included one glass of wine each, but no cocktails. I eat out often and did not find this to be the quality of a dinning out experience that would justify the cost. Needless to say, I will not return.

It's tough for a kitchen to have to carry a restaurant. The food was great. The front of the house has no idea what it's doing, from confirming the reservation, to being told to show up earlier, the hostess had no idea, the kitchen wasn't even open. It was a mess, and cast a pall over the evening. However, no one was disappointed with the food.

Add this place to your list for a romantic night out. The entire experience was top notch from the Grey Lady oysters to the coconut panna cotta. Incredible food served by gracious staff. The softly-lit, outdoor dining area set the tone for what was a beautiful night out with my husband. Cheers!

Terrible experience. Had dinner by myself (business trip) and ordered two appetizers, one main course, one dessert and a half bottle of wine. Total $150. I told the waitress to take it slowly and not to rush anything. BUT within minutes I received both appetizers at once ! I am not a pig who eats two plates at once. I am not paying for that kind of terrible service. Food was ok. But not worth coming back for. I guess the bad service left a bitter taste.

Would have given Dune 5 stars, except we were seated in a third-floor dining room in which we were the only guests in the room. Felt like we were being punished in a corner. Never got a chance to experience the vibe of the restaurant.

Best calamari app we have had in three continents. The entrees - softshell crabs and the fried prawns (special) - were perfect. The presentation was beautiful - artistic without any pretense. The staff were attentive and pleasant. The noise level was high when patrons at the nearby tables were chatting and laughing loudly, but it is not too hard to carry on conversations. Dune is number 1 rated restaurant on Tripadvisor for good reasons!

Dune pleases with excellent food, interesting wines, terrific cocktails, and smooth, informative service. It's not avant-garde - but it's fine modern cooking with first-class ingredients handled with flawless skill: wonderful soft-shell crab, excellent home-made mozzarella in the caprese, duck breast grilled perfectly, ditto swordfish. Dessert, too, is delicious.

First time I sat at the back patio didn't have the feel of th main restraurant or the front open patio wouldn't sit back there again food and service was great price as most upscale Nantucket dining spots is high Jim Badami

Food and service were very good but the atmosphere,
especially the acoustics and noise level were awful. Normal conversation impossible. The staff is fully aware of this so I assume the owner is as well but chooses to do nothing about it. I expect more at this price level. Won't be back and can't recommend it.
