Duling Kurtz House Ratings and Reviews
The food was delicious, although the menu itself was a bit too exotic for our taste. They had changed their menu for Valentine’s Day. We would have enjoyed having a chicken (not Cornish hen) dish available or more beef options. We don’t eat camel or ostrich. Atmosphere was very romantic. Very good wine list. Overall a very good experience.
Duling-Kurtz is usually excellent all around. They offered a braise rib-eye of camel which sounded interesting so I ordered it. My wife got the Lobster ravioli which was excellent as usual. The Camel was uneventful in flavor, relatively tough and a very small portion, especially for the dollars. The Server asked for my feedback which was what I just shared here. He came back to the table and informed us that I was not the only one who felt that way, so they took it completely off our bill. That was very generous of them and we will continue to dine there and recommend it to others. Our appetizers and salads were superb and you need go no further on the dessert options past the Cheese Strudel - it is phenomenal. Thank you DK, we will be back!
Pre-Valentine dinner with my wife. We sat in a charming interior room with a working fireplace. We opened a bottle of zinfandel and shared the octopus appetizer. While not chewey it was not as tender as most I have had and was lacking the trademark wood-grilled finish.
My wife loved her lobster crapes although the mashed potatoes that accompanied the entree seemed bland-underseasoned and underbuttered.
My 6 oz scottish salmon was tasty and perfectly cooked. Again the accompanying veggies lacked sparkle-bland rissoto with string beans and carrots.
A charming atmosphere but the food fell short of the acclaim in my opinion.
First time for my wife and I at the restaurant. Food was excellent and our server, June, was a wealth of info. The regular menu has terrific items and in addition, their specials were even better. We were not rushed through dinner and enjoyed an excellent early Valentine's Day dinner. We'll be back!
My wife and I celebrated our birthdays. Well diversified and just the right number of selections on the menu. Food was very well prepared and seasoned perfectly. Entree potions were quite generous. Waiter was very knowledgeable about the details of the menu. Ambience is classic traditional Chester County.
This is our third recent visit to Duling Kurtz. We love it. Fireplace in every room. Great bar selection. The Caesar and Kale Salad is our favorite, made table side. I passed on oysters on the half shell because I was getting the Cioppino . The Cioppino was a special and it was excellent. Everything cooked just right. The sauce fantastic. My wife had the fillet. She loved it. We both had dessert. Save room for the Austrian Strudel. I got the cheese. Next time I will get apple. Service is excellent. Quiet room with fireplace. Our favorite place now.
This week they overbooked and really could not handle the amount of customers they had. New people which were learning. Waited 35 minutes for a table and that has never happened before. Asked or a particular person's table and did not get it, not sure if that person was even there. Hopefully it was a bad night as I generally have a wonderful time there.
My husband and I got together with long time friends in this beautiful restaurant. We were able to chat and hear one another easily. The food and service were excellent. My Short ribs were melt in your mouth. Others at our table enjoyed their selections as proven by completely cleaned plates sent back to the kitchen:Lobster crepes, filet mignon, and shrimp/scallops dish. A nice surprise--the delicious popovers instead of plain bread or rolls to start the meal. Creme brûlée was the perfect finish to the meal. This was a lovely place to meet our friends on a bitter cold Sunday night in January.
A beautiful and quiet atmosphere. Our appetizers were a lil disappointing. The Lobster bisque was delicious and hot but lacking in lobster majorly. My husband had the escargot which he normally loves. He said it was lacking any flavor. Our entrees were good but could have been hotter. Our server was exceptional. Her attention to detail was top notch.
We normally Love this restaurant but on New Year’s Eve 2017 someone turned off the heat and by 1015 pm everyone was freezing and wearing their coats. We did not stay for desert and left quickly. It was disappointing. The owner was not present and this was also unusual and no one seemed to know how to warm the rooms up.
The hostess and the waitress were very rude. Waited 45 minutes for a table with a reservation. The bar tender would not even look at me to take my oder while we waited for a table.
The food was slow coming out. I asked from the check when the entree was served.
The food was good but not worth the wait.
A drink at the bar with Michael the bartender is always a great spot. Dinner for the 5 if adults with 2 small children went very well. The service was good and the food was great from appetizers through dessert. Looking forward to our next happy hour visit.
Food excellent as always. Service very slow. Took one hour to receive appetizer. Slowest service we ever had. Two and half hours to eat dinner. Need more wait staff. There was only one waitress in our section. She was busting her but to keep up. Restaurant to cheap to hire staff???
We went for a lunch date during our Christmas shopping. The ambiance was warm and comfortable, old farmhouse style. Food was excellent; I loved especially the Schweinepfeffer with spaetzle, which took me back to my Austrian childhood. My wife enjoyed her crab cakes. We had ahi tuna and shrimp tempura appetizers, and a wonderful French onion soup with three cheeses.
The meal started with popovers - highly recommended if you add the lemon curd they are served with. I could have eaten many.
The wine we had was good, an old vine red zin by the glass. All in all a great meal, very refined at reasonable cost.
Duling Kurtz is among our top few favorite restaurants in the area. We usually celebrate special occasions here as we did on this visit. There is no question the food will be excellent. The menu is varied. Service is attentive without being intrusive. It is a splendid restaurant.
