We were very excited about going . we even viewed the menu on line . upon arrival the restaurant was empty. The executive chef had been fired and the back up chef had quit. They had a very limited menu that did not appeal to us , so we left
4 of us for dinner. From 5 to 7 pm no other customers. They were out of onion soup one of the reasons why we went there. was our first time there. They had no iced tea. It was a big let down. felt sorry for our waiter Paul. Food was ok that we were served but surprised they are in business.
Major disappointment, perhaps just a bad evening for them. But server was totally inexperienced, well done Chateaubriand (server never asked ), appetizers were good, other dishes were mediocre at best. Won't give it a second chance.
There were 2 items from a small menu that we wanted and they didn't have any (not that they were sold out for the night). We chose multiple appetizers and they were all great.
Paul was a great server! Food was great.
Made a reservation for 7:30 and there were 14 people in line, no one came up to greet us. Just left us in line. Another couple with up and asked what was going on. We finally was seated. No one came to get drink order, our apps never came and my boyfriends food was cold. The jazz singer was amazing but, food and service was very poor!
Worst dining experience of my life! Reservations were running an hour to an hour & a half behind & Dulcets was understaffed on Valentines day. They had 5 star entertainment & the salad was 5 star, but the rest of the food wasn't edible. Crab stuffed grouper looked like a small perch filet not even a 1/4" thick with bread stuffing underneath & so overcooked that neither of us could eat it--- threw it away. At $100 a couple, it was $90 overpriced. We will never grace their doorway again. Apple butternut squash soup---sounds delicious--- couldn't eat it & had no flavor & was tepid at best
We had tried Dulcet some time ago for a special occasion and were disappointed. We decided to give it another try for Valentine's Day. Again, we left disappointed. While the food was good, the service was very poor - there were lots of waiters and bus people racing around but still it took way too long to get anyone's attention for a new drink, coffee, etc. We ordered dessert, waited 15 minutes, saw another table next to us get their's immediately. We love to dance and enjoyed the combo but about midway through our meal the staff started bringing out more tables and unceremoniously dumping them in the middle of the dance floor. By the end there was literally no dance floor left. Also there are many chipped tiles on the dance floor which makes it less than desirable. The check took a long time to come also, then was just one number with no breakdown of anything. We had to ask whether tip was included. Waiters would come and go and drop things off or take things without a word. The service leaves a lot to be desired. We expect more from a rather expensive restaurant. Also the decor needs improvement - it's too dark and the artwork is not pleasing to look at.
The restaurant is going for an "upscale" "hip" scene but they fall short on every level. My husband and I were here for Valentine's Day where they had a limited V-Day menu. 5 course meal with complementary glass of wine.
Let's start with the decor. Again, they are going for upscale yet pink, red and white balloons taped to the wall just isn't upscale - even if it is Valentine's day! The "water wall" no longer works and the glass is etched so it just looks nasty.
There there is the food...disgusting. First recommendation - FIRE THE CHEF!
The stuffed mushrooms were cooked well but WAY over seasoned with Rosemary. Over seasoned to the point that my husband actually pulled pieces of rosemary out of his teeth! Soup was served barely warm and with a "film" on the top (butternut squash something), the salad was the only thing edible throughout the entire meal. For the main course we ordered the stuffed grouper - either the fish was not grouper or it was not fresh - it was VERY salty. The crab stuffing was over seasoned with rosemary too.
Service was HORRENDOUS! My complementary glass of wine was finished when the appetizer was served and my glass of water was emptied during the soup/salad course. The waitress never asked if I wanted anything else to drink nor did she refill my water.
The restaurant then has the nerve to add a 20% gratuity to the check. I would normally not have an issue with paying 20% and in most cases I tip more but when service was this bad she didn't even deserve 15%. I asked to speak with a manager when I overheard another waitstaff tell his table that the gratuity was already added. The woman that came to the table seemed to want to help but she didn't really LISTEN to what I was saying. She did remove the 20% gratuity from the bill but again, that was not the main issue which is why I don't think she actually listed to the real problems.
I will never eat in this restaurant again nor would I ever recommend it to anyone!
Very disappointing. Was expecting a fine dining restaurant. They did not have a wine list !?!!. The first item on the menu was nachos. They were good, but should not be on the menu at a fine dining restaurant. The salad was very good, and, unfortunately, the best part of the meal. The Seafood Veracruz was awful. The Grouper Hong Kong was not very good. We also felt very rushed, and the waitress did not seem to know much about the food. We will not be going back.
my mom wanted a "fancy " restaurant for her 80th birthday , I came from Long Island my sister from Daytona . There were 6 of us. waitress was pleasant and did her best, food was pretty horrible , salmon looked blackened but not seasoned blackened, seafood Veracruz was the worst ,no jumbo shrimp no lobster , and I tasted the scallops because my sister was becoming loud , they tasted like water - we told waitress at end of our meal and she said she would pass it on,the crab cakes had no crab in it , tasted like nasty breadcrumbs, sirloin was ok but had no mushrooms or onions on top, vegetables were cold! margarita wasn't a deal one, fried calamari was pitiful. the surf and turf burger that was supposed to have seared jumbo shrimp on it, had one shrimp stuck on the top of the bun!we didn't want to make a scene and ruin my moms nite so we just politely paid and left would not recommend ! decor was nice and musician who replaced the one that was sick was excellent
The food was mediocre at best. Soup was cold, beef tips very salty, and my husband did not enjoy his prime rib! The music person unfortunately was sick and couldn't play so they did put a playlist of jazz on for our table. I would choose a different venue for a special dinner. It probably would be ok for lunch or patio dining....not fine dining
This wasn't my 1st time there. At the beginning when it 1st open, people got trust stop the ambience was nice food was always a little bit high price but certainly worth that period the food the other night was average at best. I will waitress was not informed about anything on the menu. We did not take that out on her however this was only her 1st night on the floor. There were people dressed in shorts and denim. Corner table was loud cursing and saying derogatory things. We did go out back to the reggae portion of the evening. That wasn't too badd. That least they were locals just sitting there having a good time period will probably not go back.
Very good food Will recommend Very affordable Relaxing ambiance
Food was excellent, service was very good, however we felt rushed the entire time there.
We arrived at the scheduled time, only to find no one greeting us at the hostess stand. Waited for 10 minutes until I flagged down a server to find out whats going on. We were told they were too busy and behind. It was suggested that we go elsewhere which we decided to do. Been trying to give Dulcet another try to see if service has improved from the last time we visited 1 year ago but obviously it did not.
Great service and atmosphere, ok food...was very well presented and prepared , just not very flavorful.
First of all they were not ready for us.I made reservations over a week earlier and still had to stand around while they set up. I will only coment on myself , the food was ok but nothing to brag about
I ordered a baked potato and received mashed, which were cold. Butter wouldn't even melt on them. My filet of beef was cooked ok but no flavor. The place was so noisy you could not have a conversation with anyone. We (6) were very disappointed. I probably will not return.
The only problem is the doors do not open on time.
Had reservation for four o'clock. Had to call them at 4:15 pm to open
There is a lot of clutter of chairs etc as you walk in. They were decorating a Christmas tree while we were eating. There was no salad due to the lettuce scare. We understood this but if we they were not prepared to offer a substitute or discount. Knowing there was not going to be a substitute we asked that they bring us everything that would normally come with the littuce. The entry’s were not that good. The seafood entry was cooked in parchment paper and the parchment paper was still around it when it came to the table. We asked to talk to the head server who refused and gave us a 15% discount instead. We would have preferred that the head server would have come to the table. This restaurant was our favorite when we first opened. Sad, very sad.
I first became aware of Dulcet when it opened several years ago and was billing itself as an upscale venue in downtown New Port Richey. This sounded completely incongruous to me, given the town's reputation as more of a retiree meca where upscale typically means "table service." As the years have gone by Dulcet has become more well known as a club hosting hip hop and Latin beats, than as a restaurant. But we decided to give it a try for Thanksgiving due to limited choices at the time we made our reservations.
This ended up being our first, and what will be our last trip to Dulcet, for food at least. As we entered the building, the blaring music made it apparent the acoustics are much better suited to a club, than an upscale restaurant. The interior is a bit cavernous and looks very club-like. After we were seated we had to wait a good twenty minutes before a server wandered over to take our drink order. They were anything but slammed, so this was just a matter of poor service. Our server seemed to enjoy spending more time chatting with the bartender than waiting on his customers. Maybe it was the buffet theme that evening. I'm not sure, but the service did not improve after that.
The food was equally disappointing, consisting of a very tired and limited buffet. Much of the food in the steamer trays looked as though it had been prepared at the start of the day. They opened around lunch time and our reservations were in the early evening. The main courses were pre-sliced ham, turkey, and fish in steamer trays, and a carving station with roast beef. Pre-carved turkey, sitting in a steamer tray, does not improve over time. It was very dry and unappealing. The ham was boring as well. We did not try the fish, which on appearances alone said stay away. Of all the entree items the roast beef was the best, if only freshly carved item. The sides were tired, and even more disappointing. We ended up leaving most of our meals on the table. Just awful.
The wine was good but the food was ok, nothing special but it was a Thanksgiving buffet.
Buffet food was all cold or Luke warm. We were charged a 20% gratuity added to our check when all she did was deliver an $11 glass of wine and take our dirty plates! We served out selves!
music was way too loud....
2 people at our table ordered the same thing but one received a noticably larger portion of salmon
than the other - not good!!
The food was very good and our server Maria was wonderful! We stayed after dinner for the nightlife and had a fantastic time.
Music was too loud, wine choices were poor, menus weren't available when we were seated. Place has potential but currently is not managed well.
We live locally and it was our first time at the restaurant. We were WOW'd by our server Michael who made a good experience GREAT!
Quality of food was very good and good music from the 70's
Waiter was new and unfamiliar with menu.
Reccomended a bottle of wine that was terrible. Food was good. Much better last year on our visit. Will not return.
The music outside was good. The outside staff were all really nice. Inside wait staff was off their game. Had to repeat drinks requested to them several times. Food was not good. First steak was very blah. Zero seasoning. Fries were pieces of frozen fries. Skewers for the table were good but the veggies were not cooked that were on it. The skewers we asked for to replace the bland steak was pretty much raw. At that point we gave up. Fun place and drinks are OK. A bit pricey since I was charged $13 for 2 shots of bottom shelf Amaretto flavored liquor. Also they tried to put mint liquor in a mojito since they were out of fresh mint. At that point they should just say we can't make it. The crab cakes that were recommended by our server were super dry and all breading. I'm not even sure there was crab in them. Night time musics was good. Not recommended for food and much more than a beer. Bummed that I spent my money on this meal for my birthday.
this place had a few negative's, but we enjoyed every part of our experience, we were told it had changed hands 3 times so I can only think the negative's were under the other owners or managers . more for date night not for children, price a little on the higher side .
We checked the website menu before we made reservations. We had our hearts set on the scallops appetizer and chateaubriand. When we got there, the scallops are no longer on the menu. They were out of chateaubriand and all steaks, except prime rib. Apparently the weekend before, there was a festival in New Port Richey and they ran out of everything. Very poor planning. We ended up just having appetizers and wine. Mty husband's chicken wings were burnt and my crab cakes were mostly filling and very little crab. We won't go back unless we call and verify what they have on the menu. You should not have to do this!
it was our 47th anniversary ...disappointed told they did not have chateaubriand available that night, nor filet mignon. someone said the seafood dish was 'fishy'...so I ordered a chicken dish. Water did not have slice of lemon....calamari came with no lemon wedge....just fried with a plastic cup of dip sauce. Def not the Dulcet we visited a couple years ago. dessert choices were only cake....
The food was good, the staff did not seem very happy to be there. Waiter did not introduce himself, until we asked his name. We ordered a side that he did not agree with and served us something else instead. I cannot think of a reason that we would go back there. It seemed like the entire staff was just there because they had to be.
What a wonderful time Food and service were great!!
The food came out very quickly unfortunately the appetizers we're overdone and rubbery the crab cakes basically had no crab in it it was all stuffing mix and the fries that came out were well done and burnt had to resend them back as far as price overpriced for what you get that you can get at any Applebee's or Carrabba's and a much lesser price
My friends made a special night for me on my birthday. As always, the good, service, and the entertainment was outstanding. Dulcet is so special to me. My husband and I celebrated many of our anniversaries there and we were never disappointed!
Had a wonderful dinner, but was surprised how empty the place was. Afterwards, went into the patio to listen to a wonderful Reggae band (Jahfari), which we will come back to see again.
Did not have the reservation ready, but were accommodating. The service was terrible and some of the food was cold. Food was okay, but over priced. Ambiance was strange because there was no music at first and it was awkwardly quiet.
Absolutely the worst meal I think we have ever had.
Overpriced, overcooked, under seasoned and to top it off shrimp tails and shells in the food.
No compensation was even offered. Never again.
And considering I am a Regional Manager for a few local hotel brands I will be sure to tell all of my guests to stay clear away from Dulcet.
