Duke's Huntington Beach Ratings and Reviews
Our appetizers were great and the service was fine. The only negative part of my experience was that I felt like the hostesses walked through the dining room repeatedly, over and over again checking the status of the tables. I get you have people waiting but I have never seen this method used in a restaurant. Although they walked by quickly it was obvious they were trying to determine how much longer we would be at the table. We were not being rushed directly but indirectly I got the sense for a rush to turn over the table. I would suggest a different method for turning over the tables. I would say that in my 90 mins there, I saw 3 different ladies make the rounds at least 5-6 times with some device in their hands to count.
The setting is 100%California Beach and great for a casual dinner with views of Huntington Beach Pier.
It is crowded so reservation suggested. The menu is varied with vegetarian options. Fish is the speciality. Service was attentive but impacted by how busy the Restsuant was.
Price was as expected and most entrees at $27-32 and although not super expensive probably not an every week dining option.
Will go back it was enjoyable.
We had an ocean view table reserved for 6pm however our out of town friends arrived an hour early, and they seated them so they could have drinks and appetizers before we got there. WOW! The dinner was delicious and we tried it all from lobster, steak, salmon and the bbq ribs! All was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Our waiter convinced us to share a dessert (which we don't usually do), but boy was he right! One was enough for the four of us and every bite was heavenly! Of course, you can't beat the ocean view and the wait who made us feel like we were his only table. Not a place if you're in a hurry, but of you're looking for a leisurely tasty meal in a beautiful atmosphere, then give Dukes a try.
We went for a Valentine's Day and Birthday date. The checks special was fantastic and delicious! The scallops are agreat choice if they are on the menu. The cocktails are really good! My favorite is the Mai Tai, and you can get it for a happy hour price. The service is always good, but can be a little loud at times. This time was beautiful and quiet. The sunset at Dukes are inredible! Make sure you get there with plenty of time to see the entire sunset, the colors can change by the minute. This is a romantic and great restaurant for a date!
Swordfish was great. My friend and I had to ask to be moved inside because the patio area got really cool and we were both recovering from illnesses. They were very accommodating in doing so. Duke's is a favorite. Parking is a little pricey but if you feel well enough you can park a short ways away and walk up.
The view of the beach was spectacular. I lived in Oahu and it looks and feels like home when I dine at Duke’s. The food and service was excellent. We are key lime pie connoisseurs and tasted key lime pies from over 20 states from the west to the east coast. Duke’s key lime pie is the best in the US.
After a long walk on the beach or perhaps surfing, if that's your thing, you just walk into one of the nicest beach restaurants in the area and enjoy some mouthwatering dishes. Now life could get better, I mean, you could grow wings and fly, but until then, that's as good as it gets.
We had to wait 30mins despite reservation. Our server was barely present and did not split up our group bill which made paying difficult.
However, location, food, and the building were awesome! Worth going despite meh service, just make sure you aren’t in a rush to leave.
My husband and I dont go out very often so when we do we look forward to having an exceptional experience, Dukes did not disappoint. We made reservations and were seated very quickly, they gave us a table with a window where we could watch the people and the the pier which we absolutely enjoyed. Our server was awesome and the food was top notch. Thank you Dukes for making our rare night out special!
Had a great time at Dukes, we made reservations but the table wasn’t ready for at least another 30 minutes but they took care of us with appetizers which was super nice, I ordered the seafood pot, it came out cold and very small portion but the server took it back and brought me another one which was a lot better .
Would definitely recommend this place for special occasion or just to get a good drink and the service was phenomenal there.
I was extremely disappointed. I had family come in from out of town 2 celebrated my mother's 86th birthday. When we arrived the table for 10 was very small as people were hanging off the end and I had to ask them make it bigger. It was also in a very odd place in the room in front of the booth. The food was unsatisfactory- the rice had no flavor and was mushy, we asked for a replacement and it still had no flavor and the prime rib was tough. The fish portions were extremely small for the price. Not one of the waiters or helpers fill our water glasses or asked if we wanted additional drinks. We had to ask twice to get water filled as we had two pregnant people at the table with us who were not drinking alcohol. Our server was unsatisfactory as well. He didn't check on us much and we had to ask where he was a few times.
When he opened the wine he didn't even pour it for us. He just placed it on the table and left. We spent a lot of money that night and got very little value for our money. Very disappointing -probably will never go back
Duke's was a good choice for lunch at the beach. A bit on the high end for an impromptu meal but it turned out to be fun and delicious. The staff is amazing... all very personable.
We each had a Bloody Mary and then an appetizer of one of the best PANKO CRUSTED CALAMARI ever. Seriously. I had the seafood salad (which could have used some more finesse for the price... I think they forgot some of the ingredients described) and hubby had the KALUA PORK SANDWICH which was excellent. The sweet potato fries were perfect.
Like I said before, we were surprised that a popular restaurant, directly on the beach, and potentially touristy, was so good!
Overall it was a great experience. However when I got there my table was really small and we were shoulder to shoulder with each other . I spoke to the manager saying that the table is suitable for 8 people and not for 12 and he quickly made accommodations and added an extra table .
