Steve are server was outstanding and our seating at the outside close to the beach was a great view. Omelette station was fast and food was outstanding.
Went for the Sunday brunch. Excellent food and choices. Great service too.
Food was great our waiter Jason was anything but. Seem to disappear during the meal, never checked back after food was delivered and never cleared (pre bussed) anything. At one point we had 6 empty classes and 4 appetizer plates. It wasn't until we stacked them on top of each other and slid them to the edge of the table that they were removed. I had to go to the bathroom to wash my hands after deshelling my king crab legs entree after waiting 10 minutes from the original request for some wipes. We also had to take our check up to a manager to cash out. We felt like we were his last thought. We dropped big money and felt ripped off.
Overall I was disappointed. The room was very noisy which made conversation difficult. The night we were there one of the dinner specials was halibut over linguine. I was shocked when the dinner arrived because the portion was small and tasteless. There was nothing on the plate except the linguine and dry halibut, all for $36.00 a plate. I believe the halibut was supposed to have an oyster sauce on top but there was no sauce just dry halibut.
We were happy that you were able to get us in before our 5:15 PM reservation. We had a very well behaved 2 year old with us. We were put in a noisy part of the restaurant with other families. It turned out fine, but we would have liked to be asked if the seating was okay with us. Just because there is a child does not mean we want to be removed from the nicer offerings of Duke's. We are the aunt and uncle and we wanted to have a relaxing meal with the rest of the family. Food was great.
Excellent food and service we will return next visit to southern ca
Great location, great service, variety of meals. Unfortunately we had people sitting next to us with a very fussy baby who did not have the courtesy to take him outside, but otherwise we eat here often and always really good in all respects.
Dukes is our favorite restaurant in Hawaii.
Our experience in HB was disappointing. Valet Parking is very high first and no place to park yourself.
Even with advanced reservation we did not get the outdoor table we requested and ended up in a large booth inside with a very noisy party next to us. Conversation was very hard.
The food is very good.
Went twice, the first meal was really, really good, the second night the steamed opakaopaka was outstanding. Love the tropical koi wood decor, great sunset beach view, too. Really a cut above the usual waterfront restaurant.
Great food and great service
Duke's is a great place. Dinner is better than lunch. We had a new server who didn't know too much.
Duke's in Waikiki is much better, then again, Hawaii is far away.
I've been coming to Dukes since the restaurant opened. The service is always great. However, the last two times, the lunch menu wasn't. I ordered the fresh swordfish and the recommended method of cooking it was not as good as the past. As I recall, there was "choices" for the method of cooking your selection of fish. This day they had MahiMahi The rice was just ok. Fresh local veggies would have been more desirable. And I can't remember what else was on the plate. Just not that attractive. The appetizers were delish...
I'm a regular. Food is very good. Service is very good. It's all good
Wonderful Mothers Day dinner! We were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time, and received excellent service from our server, Anthony. Would come here again, no doubt about it!
Food was cold and mediocre!
Went to Duke's on Mother's Day and it could not have been any better! The waiter was attentive and courteous, offering his recommendations where appropriate and providing the utmost professionalism in service delivery. The presentation of the food was excellent and tasted delicious. Bar drinks were made perfectly and added to the experience. Get there early to park your car in time for your reservation.
My wife and I were very pleased with the prompt service, the excellent food and the table by the window overlooking the beach.
We had a 1:45 reservation on Mother’s Day. The place was packed inside and in the bar. We arrived around 20 minutes early and went to the bar to have a drink. Ordered a beer and a bloody Mary. We were called to our table 10 minutes before our reservation time which was nice. The buffet was almost at its end, so we rushed to get the food which they kept relatively fresh considering how busy they were. We enjoyed ourselves and the view was very nice. A recommendation would be to make a buffet reservation earlier so you don’t have to arrive at the end of the serving time. That way the food looks and taste it’s freshest as possible.
I frequented Dukes in Waikiki when I lived on Oahu, and I’m so happy there’s one so close to me now in Huntington! They have wonderful service and amazing food. Their MacNut Fish and Hula Pie are incredible!
We love Dukes and the food and service was awesome. We went on a Saturday night so made reservations and requested a window table. Not only did they ignore it, never mention it but also sat us against the wall, the farthest from the window. There were several window seats open at the time of our reservations. We still enjoyed it but no point in special requests if they don't even read them.
disappointed in the food for what we paid, took too long
Best in the West. Second visit, third in a few weeks. Husband loved the food, great waitress.
We visited for a birthday. Food was good Hula pie was great!
Day before Mother's Day lunch. I don't care for Duke's on weekends as its too zoo like but this time it wasn't too bad. Everybody seemed to enjoy the food and the noise level wasn't bad. I had a wonderful seafood chowder and a wedge salad, both excellent. Nice day.
Busy place on the beach. Staff was very friendly and accommodated a move up in our reservation. The food is really hit or miss. The poke tacos were very good the calamari didn’t look or taste like calamari. The crab cakes were like mush. Crab wontons were ok. The macadamia crusted mahi mahi pretty good chain style presentation. The filet was meh sirloin was a better cut All in all nice location but not a good value except for the view
We are definitely returning the food was Perfect I had the prime rib "duke style" and I loved it. My wife had the Mahi mahi btw great recommendation from our waitress. And about her she was excellent very friendly proffesional and was very attentive even for a friday night the place was busy. The employees were all great I made reservations for 7:45 we arrived about 10 minutes early ...by 7:47 we were sitting down already. We will return over and over again.
Anniversary dinner. Well worth it.
Duke’s is always a good choice for great views, food, and service. The service is always friendly, the fish is so fresh and delicious even our children love it. The dining areas and bathrooms were clean and filled with the fresh ocean breeze. The food is not cheap, but quality comes at a price. Considering the quality food, service, and location the prices are a good value.
Basically the same menu as in Maui. Could substitute fish in some entree’s.
Service was excellent. Drinks were good.
Staff was very kind although not too quick on the service. Portions were very small for the price. I never eat all my meal but I ate the small serving of salmon, all of the 1/3 cup of rice and the 3 asparagus spears and was still hungry. We frequent another Duke's in another state and were very disappointed in our visit to this Duke's location by comparison. There was a big bill at the end for a mediocre dinner in a noisy dining room for a family birthday party. No thanks.
Great for a special night
Finally! A restaurant that does not over-sale and does achieve the best service from start to finish. NO HIDDEN costs. Waiter and waitress that care about presentation. Also, they do not hesitate in making suggestions. The food is the best. Price point is wonderful. Do not underestimate the atmosphere. 100 percent authentic from door to table.
We had a reservation and were seated promptly upon arrival. The food was good although one person received the wrong kind of fish and one steak was under cooked. Both of those issues were corrected immediately by the waiter. Overall we had a nice dining experience!
This is always one of our favorite restaurants to go to when we are in the Huntington Beach area. A reservation is recommended especially on the weekends and during the summer anytime. This is the same Duke's that's on the beach in Honolulu. A Mai Tai is a must-have drink and something they are famous for.
On Saturday and Sunday mornings, they have a brunch. At dinner, the dual lobster tails are good for sharing (but you may not want to). The hummus appetizer is a favorite--3 kinds of hummus (red pepper, edamame, and macadamia nut). The fish plates at lunch are also very good as wwll as the grilled fish tacos.
If you are lucky enough to get a window seat, you can watch all the activity on the beach and the Huntington Pier. It's worth the trip!
I have always liked Dukes, the great service, the view and good food. However, the last 3 times that I have visited your restaurant for dinner the noise level has just been overwhelming.
The view cannot be beat. Great service on our Friday night date night.
Dukes is always as expected. Food was well prepared and our server was attentive. We were seated in the front section partitioned by glass with the view of the beach.
Management needs to do some rethinking about how to control the noise level in this area. The table and seating is fabulous but you can’t hear yourself think. Some type of sound reduction needs to be done. Either by adding carpet, pulling out the glass between the main dining room, sound proofing the ceiling. It’s a great space just need a bit of help
Dinner was fabulous! Fresh fish with incredible sauces and sides! The service was wonderful and ambience amazing.
Had some business associates in from the Midwest and wanted to give them a SoCal farewell before they got on a plane at LAX and went back to their landlocked lives. It was the perfect setting with Surfers, volleyball players, great temperature. The food and service were exemplary and the price was just right. I will be back with the family for sure, either for brunch or to celebrate a special occasionl
