Duke's Malibu Ratings and Reviews
Duke's Malibu is our go-to restaurant for special occasions. This being my friend's 60th birthday, we celebrated here. The weather was spectacular and lunch is not crowded during the week. It took less than 1 hour to drive over Topanga Canyon from North Hollywood to Malibu. Folks think to come to the beach for lunch in the summer, but, the weather is usually lovely all year long.
The food was delicious. Birthday girl had the Crab Cakes and I had the Turkey and Brie sandwich. Adam, our server was friendly and attentive, and, of course, Dukes comp'd my friend's Hula Pie dessert for her milestone birthday.
Turf and Surf - Banana leaf fish and shrimp - flourless chocolate torte - everything delicious - but rice came out lukewarm - banana leaf entree not-quite hot so only 4 stars. The banana leaf dish is cooked in a way that you probably won’t experience elsewhere- quite special.
Went for lunch on Valentine's. The ONLY fish on menu was Mahi-Mahi (Opa for tacos). Food was okay - but disappointed since last visit. Maybe dinner is better but lunch was super expensive, service nice but not stellar. Won't do lunch again and dinner now a maybe.
Hands down one of the best restaurants in Malibu. The atmosphere was amazing including the view of the water and the waitstaff. We loved it so much we are bringing our family visiting from NY to Duke’s for their first stop. Anthony our server was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable as well!
Duke’s is my favorite restaurant without question. My wife and I had been meeting with friends there for years. When my wife passed away I continued meeting our friends there for dinner. Our recent experience was great!!! Every aspect of it was great. Our waiter was awesome. The food there is top notch every time. Never been disappointed in all these years.
We are LA locals visiting from Australia and had a lovely lunch at Duke's with our 96 year old aunt.
Our service person 'Matt' was one of the nicest and very best waitpersons we have ever had.
Duke's was a great experience from the moment we arrived !
Many thanks Matt ( and also Rex).
Celebrated a birthday and had a great time! The food was better than I have ever remembered! Crab wontons, crab cakes, party mac nut crusted fish and hula pie were all exceptional and the service was outstanding! AJ too great care of us! Saw dolphins and the resident ocean birds. Highly recommend!
We had family from Kansas that wanted to eat at the beach. We often eat here as it is right on the beach. Service has always been great and the food is very good especially the fish always fresh. I have been going to this restaurant since 1960 under various owners but this is the best. It's a little pricey but the view is worth it and the atmosphere of the Hawaii theme.
Our server Susan was so nice and very attentive. She was considerate at all times and the service was on point. It was very noisy since happy hour was ending and the bar was packed on a saturday evening 6p. Come later after 7p if you want a much quieter atmosphere and ask to be seated in the opposite room from the bar. The food was delicious and reminded us of flavors from the Rock. MIssed the malasadas from Poipu Bakery so glad they served some here and the ice cream pie is huge; need at least 4 people to finish. Had the chef special as part of the proceeds goes to a good cause. Entire meal was delicious. Several locations thruout Cali if you can't make it to Malibu.
Excellent overall experience. Waterfront view, drinks at sunset and superb food. All the items were well presented, fresh and very tasty. Our waiter was very attentive. There is also a a separate bar with views and patio. Have dined here many times. Great also for out of town visitors.
I LOVE the Hula pie. I wanted to come just for that. We had mahi-mahi with farro rice and pomegranate sauce and it was amazing. We made a reservation for 5pm (in January) and were able to see the sunset from our table. We even saw dolphins jumping out in the water. It was a perfect place for a slow, special dinner with family from out of town.
Yummy as usual! Love the new decor - fasholionably clean and new seats and cushions! Brunch is always my favorite although the flavors not so authentic ( My Family is from Maui) service was good but paying $6 for valet when the parking lot is empty and my car is parked in the first spot outside of the front door seems rather silly.
