It was a busy day at Duke's...not only did we not get a booth by the window, we couldn't get a booth in the elevated section two rows away (where the view isn't bad, either). We really prefer booths to tables. Anyway, I know there's no guarantee, but usually we manage to get one without too long a wait. However, we couldn't chance the 20 minute wait that we were given, since it was so crowded and getting out of there is a challenge in those circumstances, since we had a performance to go to at 2:00 pm at Pepperdine (our reservation was for 12:15). Also, our server was very extroverted, but tended to finish whatever he was saying while walking away, which I found annoying. The food, however, is reliable and good, although I'm sorry that apparently they're no longer doing waffles for Sunday brunch. Also, Duke's has switched to another reservation system, which I'm not happy about because we go four or five times a year at a minimum because we attend a lot of events at Pepperdine. Easy way to rack up Open Table points. Is it wrong that I hope that things don't go well with the new system and they return to Open Table?

Food was excellent. Server was not very good. Had a reservation and seated promptly. Waited 15 min to be greeted at table by server and had to ask for water. She didn’t check on us after our order came... had to request her when needed something.

For such a busy place, they do a great job. Service and food very good, and there’s really not a bad seat in the house.
Great place anytime of day.

I would recommend Duke's as a one time experience. The food and service has deteriorated compared to my first time there 10 years ago. The dessert plates were empty and I did not bother to go back, had a hard time to get the waitress attention not only to replace the napkin I had used to kill a large mosquito at the window , but also to mention that someone needed to re-fill the dessert plates !!!

Beautiful location right on the water in Malibu! This was my first time in the area and I loved the atmosphere and seeing all of the beautiful homes on the way in. We had made a reservation although that was probably not necessary as the restaurant was not very crowded for a Saturday night. Our waiter was fantastic... very attentive and honest when we asked him his menu preferences. However, the three women at the front desk when we walked in were not very friendly and seemed very stressed out/busy. We kept asking them questions (for example, to see if we could wait longer for a table by a window) and they seemed annoyed that we were trying to talk to them. The California Halibut I had for dinner was dry but the seasoning and sides made up for it. The desserts are HUGE and a must try!! The two other ladies I was with and I couldn't even finish one dessert all together. Overall, would recommend Duke's Malibu due to the ambience and location but probably just for a cocktail at the bar.

Celebrated a birthday here and everything was fantastic. We had a table by the window and watched dolphins jumping out in the ocean. Everyone loved what they ordered, from the kona crusted steak, the salmon, the halibut, and the surf and turf! Would absolutely come back.

Love this restaurant in spite of inattentive parking attendant, making a poor first impression. Parking guys need to be especially considerate considering $7 mandatory parking charge. Unfortunately turkey and brie sandwich not very good but chilled shrimp and crab salad and Maui onion soup were great!

Everything was good , however there was a table full of tourists and they were very loud and disrespectful to the sounding tables. Someone from management should've said something to them. Other than that we love Dukes resturant.

We had a table right in the water with an amazing view. We love stopping at Dukes when we are in Cali. My wife orders the coconut shrimp. I had the macadamia nut encrusted mahi mahi. The food was all very good. The only issue was that my fish was still raw in the middle. They got me another order prepared and while I waited they brought a bowl of the seafood chowder. The chowder was very good but filling. We didn’t have any room left for hula pie. We will have to visit again.

We went for lunch and had a table by the window. The view, with crashing waves 20-30 feet away was fabulous. We all had fish, which was well prepared and quite tasty. Service was also attentive. The only drawback was having to pay $6 for valet parking in an empty parking lot. That was not necessary and started us off on the wrong foot.

I took guests visiting CA for Sunday brunch. Great buffet including one mimosa and juice / coffee. Did not feel rushed and the view was amazing lots of Windows and ocean views elsewhere. Casual beach atmosphere.

A big disappointment for me! I live in Rancho Palos Verdes. I had my car in for service, decided to take a lovely drive up the coast north of where I live. Decided to eat st Duke’s where my daughter had her wedding reception 15 years ago. The bbq ribs were not fresh and the coconut shrimps were dry and not luscious as I remembered. Sadly, I do not want to return. The windows were dirty, they should be cleaned daily when weather is awesome.

Definitely cannot beat the view. Considering it wasn’t terribly busy, the service was pretty slow. I had a crab and shrimp salad that was overdressed and soggy, And if there was crab in there it was minimal. I was entertaining a client so I didn’t complain. He said his food was just OK.

The food quality and selection was very mediocre for a price. Sunday brunch used to offer a lot more selection with a much better quality. Smoked salmon and chocolate covered strawberries were the only things I liked.
Some of the breakfast items offered were a similar quality normally offered by a budget hotel.
I wish there was a choice to order off the menu and skip the breakfast buffet all together.
