What Insiders Are Saying
Duke’s is a bit of a tourist trap, but its beachside location in Malibu can make the crowds worth it.
Went in for Sunday brunch, outstanding selection as it's buffet style. Friendly staff and great views.
Buffet brunch - need to find a way to keep food hot.
This was the first time we had gone for Sunday brunch. Broad and diverse selection of foods for brunch, and the price was less than expected.
Always a great place to hang out and watch the ocean and the people.
My wife and I have been going here for our wedding anniversary for a few years and have always enjoyed it. The last 3 year's we have been lucky enough to have been waited on by the same gentlemen who has a really good attitude, great food suggestions and overall very attentive to our needs. I wish I could remember his name, always a great date night for us. Love this place.
El coctel de frutas Volcano absolutamente delicioso! No hemos tenido que esperar y el ambiente es 100% Malibú :)
Loved it! Good prices. Good food. Great ambience. We saw dolphins and a sunset. Perfect for our anniversary.
Great view and delicious food! Visit every time I come to town!
I ordered the special. Mahi Mahi. They served it to me not done (half cooked). Tough. They brought me A new order of fish, second time, again half cooked, tough! It was A terrible experience. I brought my entire family there because I love Dukes in Waikiki at the out rigor I was hoping that my entire family would have a wonderful meal it’s up by the table looked at the ocean and then to have such bad food served what a disappointment
Bartender sucked. Views were great.
We stopped into Duke's on our drive back to LAX. The scenery and drive out to Malibu was beautiful and Duke's had the windows open, right on the water, to add to the beauty. We went on a Sunday around 1pm so it was busy and did open seating in the bar area. Service was slow but our order came out right. I really enjoyed my shrimp and crab salad, however, everyone else in my party ordered the fish and chips and was pretty bland. Overall, great place to stop if you aren't in a hurry.
Beautiful, relaxed and inviting Malibu waterfront location to celebrate a special event, or just to come any time for Sunday brunch.
1st time at Duke’s in Malibu. nice Sunday brunch. Great selection. Lisa provided really good service. Couldn’t have found a better place to satisfy everyone’s tastes. Go early, they get busy after noon. Wonderful view!
Never fails. What an outstanding Brunch each and every time.
Great place for brunch! Brought my dad who was visiting from out of town for his 70th Birthday. Dukes made it extra special with a complimentary piece of Hula Pie!
Had an exceptional dining experience at Dukes. The food was amazing!! I had the filet with creamed corn and mashed potatoes. Everything arrived hot and smelled delicious! The filet was tender and tasty, the creamed corn was a garlic lovers dream and the mashed potatoes were just right. I also had the Wedge salad which was a little skimpy with the bacon and dressing but the croutons were out of this world.
The Raspberry Mojito was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The bartender knew how to muddle and mix that mojito to bring out the right amount of raspberry vs rum flavor. Excellent!!
But Dukes made this night even better!! The server gave us a free Kimo’s Original Hula Pie!! Wow!!
Great job Dukes!! We’ll be back soon.
THIS RESTAURANT HAS BEEN GREAT FOR MANY YEARS. THERE QUALITY AND SERVICE REMAIN EXCELLENT.
Growing up, I used to go to Duke's Waikiki every year for my birthday. The restaurant will always have that nostalgia element to it, no matter which location I go to. The food this time was just ok, and the special was nothing to write home about. (Nor did anything on the menu really jump out to us at the time.) I will say that the hula pie was massive and incredibly generous, and it was worth bringing my partner there to share in the nostalgia and to see his eyes go big when his birthday treat came. I will always have a special place in my heart for Duke's...but will likely choose a different entree next time.
Duke's is not the same. The fish tacos we ordered were not what they once were. The chowder that was once so tasty...resembled paste with seafood mixed in. My salad was painfully overdressed and soggy. I do not mind paying for great food and great service, but sadly we left Duke's feeling hosed. $200 (there were 5 of us) we will never see again. I will say though..my Pina Colada was the best part of the meal, but even that couldn't save the gloopy chowder, sub par fish tacos and ridiculously overpriced appetizers.
Duke’s is just 16 miles up the PCH for us! The food is terrific and so is the view and the service. We love the place. Try the Lilikoi Ceveche for a starter. Then any of the fresh fish would be lovely. And don’t leave without tasting the Key Lime Pie.
The skies were blue and waves crashing just outside the window making any meal at Duke's a very special event. Service was exceptionally friendly and food was as good as ever. You can't go wrong with a meal here.
We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and my brother and sister-in-laws 29th anniversary. The ambiance, service, and food were all very good. It was a bit loud with 6 of us and the amount of noise in the restaurant so we had difficulty talking to each other during dinner. But the view was fabulous with the waves crashing against the rocks near the restaurant.
Sunday Brunch is a great time to try new places. Not sure if it is a good time to review Duke's. The food was delicious, not your usual brunch fare, although there were some favorites. Major problem was the slow replenishment of the items in the buffet. Also, the cheesy eggs lacked seasoning -very bland, and much in need of Tabasco or other hot sauce. Our server was not very fast with requests or clearing of used plates. She also assumed it was ok to put our used flatware on the table (and this is after watching a rather spotty cleaning with an unknown liquid of an adjacent table) - would NOT want to reuse the flatware after that. There ARE other alternatives...a clean bread plate, flatware caddy, extra napkins, etc.
Great time. Kid friendly. Love the view.
We came for a birthday dinner and we were not disappointed. My wife and i have been coming here for years, but it was our daughter who chose Duke's for a 20th birthday dinner. Food was excellent and service was very friendly and attentive. We had to wait a little longer than we expected, but the ocean view and crashing waves were worth the wait! It was a very happy birthday!
I have been to Duke's several times and has been a wonderful experience. The service is great, the ambiance is great and best of all the food is great! Save me a window seat!!!!!
There are many nicer seaside restaurants. Good food, outdated atmosphere. Very noisy and crowded.
Daniel our server was GREAT. So were all the supportive personnel.
Not at all like the dukes in Waikiki - a bit disappointed.
Always great food and service tonight Anthony was our waiter, he was outstanding!
We love Duke’s! It’s our favorite neighborhood restaurant!
Nice relaxed family restaurant with beautiful views if you can get a window seat. Good menu with lots to choose from
The ambiance is very chill and casual the are very accommodating if you want to wait for waterfront seating , While we waited we went into the barefoot bar good amount of TV's good selection of beer and cocktails. When seated the waterfront views are really nice, the appetizers are great we tried the crab cakes. as for our entrees the prime sirloin was cooked to a perfect medium rare served with mashed potatoes and broccoli everything was delicious my wife had the chefs special also very delicious. It was our anniversary so our waiter brought us a huge slice of cookies and cream ice cream with a Oreo cookie base that was great. overall really great experience my wife and I will definitely be back when we have a chance.
Heartbroken that the tiki vibe has all but vanished, especially with the resurgence and interest in tiki. Decor is stripped of personality. Speaking of stripped, the menu is really pared down without many interesting options. Had filet mignon and it had a gamey flavor. Whole place feels like a casual cafe but with steakhouse prices. We've visited several of the Group's properties and this one really pales in comparison. Used to be frequent diners. No more.
Waited almost 20 minutes for service after being seated. Server took another table’s order who were seated 15 minutes after us.
Server was terrible. Order messed up. No service what so ever.
Seated us exactly on time at a window as requested. We were there for hours, never rushed. Has become a tradition with friend from TX.
Really cool setting, good menu and great execution. A good choice in Malibu. A bit of Hawaii
We have been to Duke’s Huntington Beach many times.
This was a first for Malibu.
Had to wait with reservations.
Odd seating. We had six and I felt like my seat was just thrown in and did not fit the table. Service was very slow, had to ask a few times to get our waiter back at table.
The food was pretty good, not cooked as asked. Wanted rare, medium steaks were rarer than mine.
