Duke's La Jolla
You don’t need to cross the Pacific to get a taste of Hawaii. Duke’s La Jolla is San Diego’s island-inspired home, honoring the Ambassador of Aloha, Duke Kahanamoku, with coastal cuisine of Hawaii, craft cocktails and a genuine spirit of aloha. It’s the same authentic hospitality and panoramic ocean view that you’ll find at all of the California and Hawaii Duke’s restaurants, paying tribute to the Duke and welcoming you to celebrate life like the legend himself.

Food was good, but not as good as the Kauai location. Service was just ok; waiter was inattentive. My tuna was not as I asked, but was still good. My husband’s meal was very tasty.
Delicious food - nice selection of food and beverages. We sat on patio with a nice breeze and view of ocean. Restaurant was busy but we had prompt service.
Overall very good. Was hoping for a table with a better view, having made reservation a month out and stating in advance that we were coming from the East Coast on vacation and celebrating a birthday. They did a nice job on the birthday, just not the table placement I was hoping for.
Muy mal servicio y groceros las personas de la entrada
Service and food were excellent. Drinks were overpriced if you ask me. Overall great experience
Poke tacos were very good. Seafood hotpot was as well very good. Scenic views were the best!
We’ve eaten at Dukes a couple times now. The fish is always fresh and flavorful. We’ve had the sea bass and halibut and both are very good. We also had the fried calamari appetizer and it was also very good. Cocktails are tops. Great service. The wait staff is very attentive but not overly so. Don’t hesitate! Recommend making a reservation if you can!
We were seated on time and had a perfect outdoor eating experience! The food was great! Our server was excellent and attentive to our needs, she was awesome! We will return to Dukes!!!
Very enjoyable dinner celebrating our anniversary while on vacation in the San Diego area. Was seated on the patio not a waterside table, but close, and still a nice view. The sunset was beautiful, the air a little chilly so bring a jacket. Ahi Tuna was very good and prepared well, and so was the ribeye (the off-menu special). They gave us a complementary dessert of our choice for celebrating our anniversary there. Wait staff provided excellent service. Parked in garage next to Dukes - $30 (ouch).
Service for our party of 6 was good. But we ran out of drinks in our Coke/lemonade/water glasses, and my fork was noticeably dirty when I removed it from the napkin setting.
I frequent Dukes Waikiki, so am comparing to that experience. I had noted a birthday on the reservation and mentioned my frequent dining with Dukes status when seated with server. Ordered iced tea and had a glass of tea no ice. Asked for a glass of ice. No ice came in a timely manner so after 5 or so minutes I went to the bar to get it myself.
No birthday acknowledgment and I had a certificate for two drinks, an app, or desert with two entrees.
Overall the experience was okay but I’ll stick to Dukes in Waikiki
We enjoyed our Saturday lunch. Dukes is a favorite whether in La Jolla or Waikiki.
Everything was wonderful. Was lucky enough to be seated outside and had the perfect water view
Our server was excellent. The food was delicious and you can’t beat the view.
Great food, location and service. Highly recommended. Reservations a must.
Fantastic meal and view. Service was great. Highly recommended.
Food server was excellent!
Our party had a emergency with their dog & 2 were late for our reservation. The staff still honored our reservation which we appreciated.
I was disappointed in the vibe of the place and also the food was very average. Not what I was hoping for going to beautiful La Jolla. I suppose if you sit outside it would have a better feel.
Can’t beat the view !
Great bang for buck. Definitely worth it.
On vacation in San Diego. We loved the food and the staff were wonderful! Best dishes the mac crusted fish, poke, hula
pie, key lime tart and Ono fish. Basically everything was the best 😃 loved the mai tai less sweet version! Thank you!

Everything was perfect!
The view at Duke's is stunning. This is why you deal with downtown La Jolla crowdedness and traffic. Had a nice table outside. The food was good, but I was a little underwhelmed. The HuliHuli chicken was on the dry side and the side slaw was just OK. We did enjoy the nachos. My daughter had the burger which was good. The fries were ok but could have been crispier. The menu reminds me on a more upscale Islands fare. But I probably prefer Islands food. The waitress was new and didn't quite get our orders right, but at least she was honest about it and sweet as can be so no issue with that. Just wish the quality of the food was a bit better.
Basic- very basic. Had higher expectations from other people recommending- visiting from East Coast- service was great- food was cold she fixed that-
Our waiter was very friendly and informative, attentive !
We had a great experience. Good view, food, and wine.
They sat us near ocean view. Wish we had waited a bit longer just for actual table next to the view. Three became empty as our appetizer arrived.
Hostess are a little standoffish until you make conversation. However our waiter Oscar was very nice and prompt. Food did not take long. Really appreciate the birthday cake for my sister.
Outstanding from the service to the food!!
Food was deyand staff was very friendly. Beautiful view.
Great food. Excellent service. Fun atmosphere!! We enjoyed this outing with friends and liked to so much that we’ll be back soon!!
We had a very fun family dinner to celebrate a birthday. The food was great, everyone really enjoyed their entrées. Hula Pie for dessert of course!
Sat down ordered then we were told we had to move tables as our table had been reserved, so embarrassing as we walked with out water and menus over to another table, very armature and not what you would expect from a La Jolla Resturant, give it a pass
Great experience and service. Highly recommend.
Great service, spectacular views and reasonable prices! Will certainly dine at Duke’s on future occasions.
Great food and atmosphere!
Great view. Friendly staff inside. Waiter was a little grumpy. Told us we had to order or the kitchen would be closing. Not happy I asked for a paper wine menu.
