Duke's La Jolla
We had a wonderful Birthday Celebration Dinner. The wine selection was excellent, calamari appetizer was delicious. We all ordered the three course dinner promotion, it was a great list to choose from.
Our server was knowledgeable about wine and food. Great job, we will Definitely be back.
Great ocean view. Cool venue. Good service. Very very limited menu. The ocean view is black at night. I would go back for lunch
Friends from Canada visiting. First time at Duke’s La Jolla, they loved it!
Unfortunately the view was obstructed by tarps- possibly due to wind? So the ambience was not good.
The service was outstanding- food so so.
I may just be so spoiled by Dukes in Hawaii that nothing compares...
Fun vibe, great spot to go with friends.
The food was amazing. A bit too noisy to have a conversation but it can’t be helped, I guess.
Our hostess gave us a seat right overlooking the Pacific Ocean and La Jolla beach when we arrived at 2pm. Outstanding service. Breathtaking views under heaters. Tried the Hawaiian dish with ribs with a mango barbecue sauce, macaroni salad, bok choy macademia nut slaw and chicken kebobs. One of the best dishes I have ever tasted. My daughter had called in and ordered a slice of Hula Pie which also was beyond amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Dukes is now my place to go when visiting family in San Diego! Also, valet parking right outside which when in LaJolla is a must.
Amazing experience! Breathtaking view , good food and great service.
Loved the locale and the food. Excellent service.
The reason I’m not giving a higher rating is the fact that a weekend brunch menu was not available. Breakfast is only served until 11AM. On a previous visit I did enjoy an extended breakfast/brunch menu that was delicious. I
find it very odd on a weekend this wasn’t offered currently. Otherwise, the outdoor patio views of the ocean are spectacular & I love the Lava Flow from their bar. Service is great But their lunch/ dinner menu is average.
Price points were perfect. Location, food, quality, and service. I usually visit malibu but La Jolla i think might have it beat! First time and 5 stars!
Helpful and thoughtful service. Couldn’t ask for better!
Great food!!!! Great service!!! Closes very early
The food is not great, especially considering the price tag. I ordered the fish tacos and found it kind of lacking. The chips that came with it were stale. My wife got the bbq chicken salad but it was mostly lettuce. My advice is to come admire the view but eat someplace else.
Muy rica la comida
Well executed seafood, although Hot Pot sauce was in need of a bit more impact.
Muy buena comida y vista
We came here to celebrate a birthday and anniversary. Everything was really nice and good. Would recommend Dukes to friends.
Reminded me of going to Duke's in Hawaii over 15 years ago. Same great quality and service.
We had a reservation for 7 PM, but ended up arriving early at 6:30 PM because we were in the area. The restaurant was relatively empty with no one waiting in line for a table, so we were told that the table we were supposed to get for a larger party was almost done and we would be called shortly. We ended up going to the bar while waiting, which had great service, no complaints there. The problem was that we ended up waiting almost 45 minutes for a table that we were told was 'almost ready'. We normally don't like to complain because we too work in the hospitality industry and understand that there are things happening behind the scenes that guests don't always understand, but be honest. Don't just say something to get us out of your face and then the customer has to wait around in an empty restaurant. If we were told from the beginning that the table wouldn't be ready for a while, we would have gone somewhere else to pass the time. There were also employees sitting behind us in the bar that were gossiping quite loudly about drama going on, which, yes is fine, but don't be so loud that the guest can hear everything you're saying. After finally being seated, there was absolutely no acknowledgement of how long we waited for the table and the server provided very basic service. She was nice, but didn't check on us or ask us how our food was, which just leads to me to believe that the restaurant was either understaffed or she had too many tables to work with. Overall the food was great, but the service was very underwhelming.
Great spot for lunch or dinner. really well prepared fish!
Loved this family birthday celebration! What a treat!
You can’t beat the view! Food is fantastic. Great variety of cocktails. Hope to be back one day.
A solid restaurant with friendly customer service with a great view of the.Pacific Ocean. Nice ambiance along with great Hawaiian food and refeeshing drinks.
Wonderful dining experience! The food was delicious. My steak was among the best I have ever eaten. My partner’s seafood special was equally superb. The service was friendly, timely, professional. I will definitely return!
Good atmosphere, great server and very good food. Very much enjoyed the experience!
Not too much Choices
Outstanding View, Friendly Service, Delicious Food made a great morning meal experience.
Exceptional meal. Great service. Best sea bass ever!
Excellent place for causal seafood lunch. Love the atmosphere. We had the coconut shrimp for appetizer and fish/chips, Mahi Mahi Caesar salad. Seafood, is so fresh. Splurged for the key lime pie ... macadamia nut crust. Insane good. Will be back!
Overall really fun.
Had a great meal here for Xmas. Fun atmosphere, good service, and yummy food.
Visiting from Ohio, had Christmas dinner. Good service and recommendations on wine choices. Staff and hostess Awesome!! with kids. Kids menus comes with “bingo checklist” that has kids looking for object to check off a list, and best off without leaving they seats! Once all items found they get a surf board Dukes Sticker as a prize.
Wonderful Christmas Day lunch at Duke's - service and food both very enjoyable. Definitely recommend!
Christmas Lunch was delicious!
Always a great place for a meal.
We were seated first right at opening for breakfast. We sat for 17 minutes before they even asked if we wanted coffee
The staff is fantastic. Food was very good.
We had just gotten off a plane at 7:40am and knew we would want a good breakfast. Needless to say, Dukes exceeded our expectations in every way. Beautiful view and outside heaters kept us very comfortable. The eggs Benedict, which both myself and my husband had was great. We paired that with a side of fruit which was so fresh and delicious we felt it was the perfect compliment. If your in San Diego, this place is worth the drive!
