We went to Dukes with our friends and had a lovely dinner. I highly recommend making a reservation since it fills up quickly. I had the teriyaki steak and it was amazing. Others in my party had the macadamia nut crusted fish and really enjoyed it. I would eat here again in a heartbeat.

We had reservations on a Sunday. There is a special surf and turf option that day, so I ordered it. Prime Rib and King Crab legs - $89.00. Although everything was really good i felt there should have been more crab legs, or larger size. There were 2 on the plate and not really very big. Prime rib was perfect. Our waiter was great and didn’t rush us, which was appreciated, as this was the evening activity. Can’t beat atmosphere- it’s Hawaii!!!!

Promptly seated at 630 and greeted by waitress Ginny. Very nice brought drinks and rolls. I opted for salad bar add on , Tasty but not quite like the golden age of salad bars. Wife ordered fish , i got ginger braised seafood. Both were very good. Had ice cream pie.excellent meal.

Within 2 minutes of sitting down our waiter asked us what we wanted to drink, and we hadn’t even had time to look at the menus yet. After that we didn’t have to worry as we waited a long time for him to take our food order. The salad bar was supposedly famous but mediocre at best. The food was uninspiring. My daughter had the twin lobsters which were good but then had plain jasmine rice and steamed and not tasty vegetables. I would expect more flavors and better food for the price!

Coconut Shrimp were huge & very tasty, crisp. Served with delightful marinaded cucumbers & sweet chili sauce. Entree was Ginger, Coconut Seafood including lobster, shrimp, & whitefish with delish white sauce & white rice. It could have been more warm. Dessert was famous always Hula Pie. With fabulous views from deck, you must experience Duke’s.

While in Kauai, my wife and I dined at three higher end restaurants. Dukes was our least favorite. Both the Hukilau Lanai and Oasis on the Beach were much better. The ambiance at Dukes was wonderful, but the food and service were not. They provided one fork and after eating our salad, the server told us to keep our forks rather than bringing clean forks. I asked the server for her recommendation between to entrees and she said I am not your mother, so can’t tell you what to choose. We had the swordfish and ahi entrees with rice and neither were very flavorful. When you pay $150 for dinner and two drinks, you expect better.

Outstanding food entrees. We didn't try their famous salad bar, but plates going by us looked great. Only $7 extra. Hostesses, servers and staff were all friendly and working hard. Our particular server could have been more welcoming and enthusiastic. Maybe he brought a bad day to work. Clean and nicely landscaped atmosphere!

Very good dinner and setting, but not the value it once was. The $7 additional charge for salad bar with dinner was once complimentary, and the salad item selection is not as complete. With the hike in dinner and drink prices, the beach front setting is still beautiful and now much more expensive.

Our entrees were terrific! However the salad bar was outdated. It was missing several choices for building a salad. None of our favorite dressings were available like French, raspberry vinergaret, and Thousand Island dressings. No cottage cheese, beets, pepercinis, bell peppers, and various cheeses. Garlic Breadsticks would have been nice beside a $0.10 hawaiian dinner roll.

This restaurant has a great location- but the attitude of the management and the food for the price is not worth it. We visited on a Saturday night and got a great table. However, the menu was very limited. We ordered Ahi to share and got Mahi instead. They offered to split our food and when it came each piece of fish was very small- an end piece for each and only some rice and raw vegetables. It could not have been more than a couple of ounces each. We complained but were told by the wait staff and the manager that what we had was the right size- no discussion about the fact that it wasn’t even what we ordered. Unfortunately, we probably won’t be back. I gave it two stars rather than one because the salad bar was good. We have visited many other Dukes over many years- this is not the Dukes we were expecting.

We celebrated a birthday and our waiter was very good!! We had a wonderful time and the atmosphere was great.
