Fish was over cooked and dry. Rice and veggies barely warm.
We have been eating at Dukes/TS Restaurants for more than 20 years and prior to this visit always had good experiences. This one definitely was not. We had nine people in our party and the only good food delivered to the table was the calamari. The fish, steak and chicken dishes were dry and over cooked. The fresh vegetable and rice was under cooked. We could not get drink refills or condiments. Our server was terrible and couldn't do more than one thing at a time. (Asked for refills of ice tea and coke at the same time, but only received the coke and asked for ranch and a spoon at the same time and only got the spoon.) Needless to say that was a wasted $350. Will definitely go elsewhere next time.
They always have great fish and you can't pass up the hula pie.
Service is always good.
The food was delicious! I loved the outdoor bar seating. The indoor/outdoor waterfall area was gorgeous! I would come here again!
Food was very tasty and drinks were so good! Celebrated a birthday here from out of state and will definitely come back.
Good restaurant with good and friendly servers and great food. It’s worth it.
Duke's Kauai has an amazing salad bar. I wish the other locations would add this too. We had reservations for this rainy cool & windy Wednesday evening at 4:45 PM. We were seated at a lovely table - had the weather been better but it wasn't so quickly our server & a helper started to tie down the unfolded weather guards. That helped a lot. I had the salad bar for the 2nd time & it did not disappoint. The ingredients are all wonderful & many different options from which to choose. Delicious hot muffins on the salad bar as well & fresh pineapple - yum. My husband enjoyed a filet that is served with mashed potatoes & zucchini. He enjoyed it a lot. Our server was very attentive, friendly & helpful. If we return to Kauai, yes, definitely we will return.
Beautiful setting.! Wonderful service!
Excellent food and value. ' Will definitely visit again on our next trip to Kauai.
Salad bar was awful, top flight maitai too strong and sour, fish was just fair..service was good. VERY DISAPPOINTING! !
Perfect! The view from the upper dining area, the service, the food quality and the atmosphere were exceptional. I recommend Duke's filet minion. It was cooked to perfection.
I had eaten here before and had a wonderful time, but this time around, the waitstaff mostly just chatted with each other and kept us waiting for a while. The food and drinks were as great as Duke’s reputation for them, but they were a couple dollars on the pricier side. Finally, don’t get the salad bar if your reservation is early during dinner time. It wasn’t completely set up for our 5:00 reservation, and the plates in the chiller were frozen together.
Amazing food! The filet mignon was so tasty, seasoned with Hawaiian sea salt and brown sugar. The mahi-mahi was cooked to perfection is a lemon caper sauce. And oh my...the Hula Pie. Simple but delicious. Went to The beach bar the next day for some Korean street tacos which were amazing and so flavorful. Would go back again in a heartbeat. Delicious!
Solid restaurant choice, food and service very good. Definitely add a trip to the salad bar. Nice ambiance and view of the bay. The one down side was that we felt they wanted to “turn over” the table and overall dining experience was a little rushed than we are accustomed too. Both Dukes and Keokis are very similar given part of the same larger ownership group. If can only go to one and want a beach view go to Dukes, if want a more lively and slightly more relaxed pace of dining go to Keokis.
Great happy hour at Barefoot Bar downstairs of Duke's and then head upstairs for a nice, romantic dinner. Highly recommend reservations.
The food is always good no matter what you choose. Don’t miss the salad bar.
This is a restaurant to visit. Food, service and ambiance were great
Wow, another one out of the park. Duke's continues to excel with their offerings. The open salad bar offered lots of choices of salads including broccoli, pesto, ceasers, potato salad, and lettuce to make your own. Their bread choices were artisan bread, magnet banana, and pineapple/carrot muffins. We had their fresh catch(Opah) with macnut breading over basmatic rice with fresh veggies on the side. Scrump-deli-icious is the best description for the entire meal. The meal was so filling we were unable to order our favorite hula pie :( And as usual, the service was outstanding.Highly recommended to end any trip to Kauai with.
Fantastic salad bar that can be added to your meal. Cocktails and appetizers available. My brother ordered Prime Rib - cooked to perfection and more than enough for his large appetite. Everyone else ordered the Mahi Mahi - melts in your mouth. Can get a little cool with the ocean breeze. Shared a Hula Pie - WOW.
The view is beautiful, the food was delicious and our server Kimi could not have been more pleasant or accommodating. Can’t wait to go again.
It would be extremely hard to find another combination of view, food, and service that is better than Duke's on the entire island.
Great waterfront location and tropical ambience. Excellent fresh seafood entrees. Hula pie. Friendly, attentive service.
I really like the ambience! Our server was excellent! Great vibe overall but I would probably seek something a little more local next time! If you order the Ahi tuna I would choose the white sticky rice over the rice provided on the dish. It was a black, pasty, tasteless rice ( or whatever it was ) I did not prefer it .
We enjoyed a fantastic dinner with friends on our last night in Kauai before heading to airport for late night flight home! Beautiful ocean view, beautiful ocean view, great food & our waitress was exceptional!
Service was outstanding! Salad bar was good. Calamari appetizer was very good. Our fish entree was over done and dry.
We heard good things about Dukes so our last night in kauai we decided to go. It was fabulous! We had an ocean front view and the food was outstanding! They are pricey but pretty average of everyone else. Most entrees between $28-$36. They also had a great salad bar which made it a better value. This is also a place where you can dress casual or be dressed up. Dukes will be on our list of places to eat when we visit next year!!
Massive disappointment. Dryer restaurant disregarded our reservation. We arrived on time. Hostess first told us we could wait 30 min for our table, then, when we said we would like to be seated, she sent us to a different section where a different hostess told us it would be another 45 min. When I went back to the first hostess she acted like it was my fault that I didn’t know the two different hostess stands didn’t communicate with each other. If you want to eat here, don’t bother with a reservation. Better yet, eat somewhere else and save yourself the hassle.
Birthday dinner was great as usual!
Always go to Dukes when in Hawaii. love ambience and HulaPie is a must
Two dishes were a disappointment. I have brought friends before but will no longer bring visitors to Dukes. And the vegetable portion was disappointing. My fish was dry and over cooked. And my guest’s rib eye was also disappointing. , my other two guests were satisfied but a 50% success is not acceptable. Since I know a lot of people in the Poipu area, I will recommend other restaurants where the quality and service are consistly good or excellent.
We went to Duke's on the way to the airport, it's only 5 minutes or so drive. Reservations definitely recommended, it's a very busy place. Server was great, very funny, and the food was delicious. Draft beer served in 12 oz glasses, surprised me. From the time we were seated until we were on our way to the airport was not much more than an hour, very quick service if you need it.
Great salad bar and food. Service was excellent. Salad bar used chilled plates and main course was served hot.
We hadn't eaten at Duke's for years. I always thought of it as a place that was attractive but that neither excelled at food or service. I was wrong. At least now, the food is very good and the service is excellent, much better than I expected.
Food quality has diminished. Disappointing, as we always eat at Dukes when visiting the islands
Visiting from the mainline, went there twice. Excellent food and drinks. A+
Our waiter was not attentive, never came back to ask how food was, never refilled water glasses or asked if we wanted another drink. Barbecue sauce was awful and fish was over cooked!
Alvin was a great server and looked after all our requests. Very knowledgeable and jocial
Thanka for getting the best table in the house for my wife's Birthday
It was our last night on vacation in Kauai, and we wanted great meal before we got on the plane to fly home, Dukes didn’t disappoint. The property near the Marriott was beautiful inside, it was very busy but not too loud. We both had steak and lobster, it was delicious. We wanted dessert but they only offered one ginormous piece of ice cream pie in two flavors. Service was great.
