Duke's Seafood & Chowder - Tacoma
We have had consistently good meals at Duke’s, and this was no exception. This time we were attracted by half price bottles of wine on Mondays and the emphasis on Washington wines.
Two of us ordered a “mixed grill “ that included shrimp, scallops, and a crab cake, along with delicious vegetables. I’m not sure a crab cake fits into the grill nomenclature, but I’m glad it was there. The third diner ordered a stuffed Alaskan pollock from the specials menu and said that it was very good. The mixed grill was well-prepared and cooked just right. An accompanying pesto sauce was very good.
Service was timely, friendly, non-obtrusive, and knowledgeable.
We chose a Rose to accompany the dishes, and it went well with all of the dishes. No dessert this time.
Overall a great dining experience. We will be back.
Top Notch. Impeccable customer service and delicious food. Next time we are in Tacoma, this place with be at the top of our destination list.
We had a wonderful server, which made our dining experience very enjoyable! And we always love the food at Duke’s, we’ll be back soon!
The service, the view and the food were outstanding.
Great location on the water with beautiful views. Delicious seafood but also burgers and other selections if you have a group with people who might be looking for options other than seafood. Busy place on a Sunday so parking is tight and may have to park across the street. Recommend a reservation if you can.
Clam chowder was good. Halibut and chips was slightly over done. Halibut was dry, both mine and my wife's. Good halibut should be light and flakey. This was not.
Great food, great service, great view! We go to this restaurant regularly and have always had a great experience!!!
Fantastic chowder and great food. The pan seared Salmon was outstanding.
Our whole party loved our meal at Duke's. Love the sustainability mission and love the food. Wish you had grenadine, but other then that it was wonderful!
Pricey for what you get. But you take a date here, guaranteed culo
Fish was fabulously fresh and beautifully plated (and price was reasonable too)!
Met with old friends for lunch. Food was wonderful. Gave birthday girl a free birthday small pie for all of us to share. There was some sticker shock upon seeing prices. No senior menu and not lunch special. Pretty pricey for those n fixed income. Staff was very friendly.
Not only is the staff at Dukes expertly trained, but the restaurant is very committed to highest quality, sustainably sourced food. Always a great time at Duke’s!
Duke’s location in Tacoma is amazing. We had a very positive experience, the food was very good, and the server was attentive.
Food was good as I would expect a place specializing in seafood would be but the best was the service. Our waitress was incredible and provided us with the best recommendations!
I made a reservation for the first time using open table for a meeting with prospective clients. The staff were on point and attentive, our waitress asked if we were in a meeting and was careful not to be disruptive. I'll definitely be scheduling additional meetings and returning for a date night with my husband.
Great meal! Great service!!!
Always a pleasure to dine here! This visit was made extra-special by the fabulous service from Wade. Delightful!
Gabriel was great! Took my wife out for her birthday and she had a great time and a great meal. Showed up for dinner and ended up full on happy hour appetizers. Our server made the day, to say the least
We had such a wonderful server, Gabriel, who made our lunch memorable.
His recommendations were spot on.
Looking forward to another meal at Dukes Tacoma.
Great food, great location
My wife and I went for an early birthday dinner and were very happy with the seating, service and food. Not surprised, as we've always found Dukes to be top-notch. The waitress was very pleasant, professional and attentive, and the manager stopped by to check on our food. The fact that the sun (Sun?) was out and the water view was great, made the overall experience fantastic. Keep up the good work, Dukes. We'll be back.
Was told we would be seated by a window to celebrate husbands birthday. Did not happen. Got a table with a pole in the way so I could not pull my chair up to the table. Had another large party in the room that was so loud could not hear the person next to me. Was told we would have a booster seat, did not happen. We had to wait 20 minutes even though I booked a reservation plenty in advance. My fish and chips were dry and small for the money. The ones at the Ram are four times the size and fresh. I won’t be back
The the food was well prepared and the waitress was very helpful. Our young children were with us but the spacing in the restaurant gave them ample space to relax.
Fish was horribly dry. Grocery freezer fish would have been better. Chowder was EXTREMELY salty. Couldn't taste anything else. No value here. Excessively overpriced.
The food and the services was amazing. Since it is sustainable seafood its pricey. We went on a Saturday night around 7 p.m. and had a hard time hearing each other across the table.
Dukes use to be a place my husband and I went to for awesome chowder on a cold evening. It is now our ‘go to’ restaurant! We love all their food and really enjoy the bartenders when sitting at the bar. The staff is very friendly and attentive and the food is excellent.
We took my sister there for her birthday the waitress was superb the whole experience was wonderful having grass-fed beef and all the sustainable foods that we can choose from and the gluten-free is especially important to me!
Celebrated a 60-something birthday with friends using my Duke's birthday coupon. Had a wonderful time on a beautiful sunny day. Downside: over ate :-(
Always a hit
The service was great but the cost was in excess of the good taste of the food. I paid over $100 dollars for two servings of salmon and one serving of chicken tenders. We did not even have any alcohol. Nice setting but I probably will not go there again in the near future.
Dukes is an outstanding restaurant. We dine there minimum of three times a year. The food is great, so is the service and prices.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Wade was our host, and he was nothing short of amazing!! He helped me step outside my comfort zone by suggesting the Stuffed and Puffed scallops, and offered the dish for free if I did not like it. I absolutely LOVED the food. So delicious, and filling. Wade was very genuine, and was not over bearing or bothersome. I will definitely go back sometime soon!
Celebrating ending the “worst “ job ever! Kate was great! She took care of us!!
We had great service from our waitress who was very attentive. The food was well cooked and flavorful. I have always loved Duke’s signature clam chowder. My favorite in the city!
We had a great evening and a great Birthday celebration. Our waiter made it great and we had excellent service.
Great food, fantastic service. What more could a person want. Management goes out of their way to take care of the clients. Jason is always there to help
valentines day dinner
My wife and I met another couple on Sunday to celebrate my birthday. We all enjoyed the wonderful selection of chowders to start our feasting. The halibut was perfectly prepared as was the grilled salmon. The sourdough bread provided is a standard feature at Duke's and was excellent. The service was impeccable as our server seemed to anticipate our every need. Each of us ordered a dessert to complete a spectacular meal. I highly recommend Duke's for any occasion.
Best calamari I have ever eaten. Plus it was served in a toasted cheese bowl that was delicious. I had the stuffed white fish that was cooked to perfection. We love eating at Duke's!!
