Duke's Beach House Maui Ratings and Reviews
Place was packed. We had a reservation, but were seated next to the kitchen. Not the optimum place for a conversation. Shane the waiter was nice and very efficient; maybe too efficient. In and out in less than 30 minutes. May have had a lot to do with were we sat. (Very noisy!!!!)
Food, unless you want "bar food" was just OK.
We had 2 meals at Dukes over a 10 day stay in Maui. Both were for 7 people, including 2 children. On the first night, a Friday, it was extremely busy, and took a long time to get our wine delivered to the table, although other's drinks came more quickly. The food was very good both times, and the ocean front essentially open-air casual restaurant setting is impressive. While the basket of purple buns to start went quickly, they seem very processed and probably could be improved upon for a higher end restaurant like this (and we certainly had better break at other Maui restaurants). The second occasion at Dukes was on a Sunday, a bit earlier in the evening , and it was less busy. Duke's allow tables as large as 7 to make reservations through Open Table, so that is a plus. I had different fish each time, and it was very nicely prepared on both occasions. Also, they allow you to brink your own wine, for a corkage fee, and a few other rules. I think it is popular with locals as well as tourists.
This was the 2nd time we visited Duke's this week! They accommodated our "outdoor seating" request. Our server this time, was not very attentive. Two of us ordered the Duke Style Fish and the server charged us for the "fish special" instead. I'm not sure which fish we got but the server promptly credited our bill when we brought it to her attention. Also we switched vegetables and were charged $2.75 for the change, which the server did not tell us about beforehand. Our first visit here that didn't happen. The food was good and I would come back. Ambiance is nice: ocean view, fun place.
We had a fabulous dinner here. We have been to a few of Duke's restaurants and they are all excellent. We shared a great shrimp cocktail, Korean sticky ribs and a great bottle of Pinot Noir. Our server was fantastic. He really helped me pick the right entree that didn't have any dairy. I had the Monchong and it was outstanding. My husband had the Au which was delicious. I would highly recommend this place. Also, a gorgeous beach is right there!
Great place on the water! Fun bar, but small. Our waitress, Crystalli (sp?) was wonderful. She gave us recommendations and they were great. The pork shank was falling off the bone. I had the mongjong fish and it had an asian flare to it and was wonderful. We are actually going back again this week before we leave Maui. Highly recommend!
I asked for the ocean view of prime that was sat in the farthest part of the back of the restaurant on my last night dinner on Maui with a 5:30 reservation to watch the sunset I had to look over the heads of 50 people in front of me very disappointing but I tried
We returned to Duke’s Maui for our 5 year wedding anniversary and had a wonderful dinner. In addition to the memories of sharing our after ceremony dinner with friends and family here, we built new ones by sharing dinner with our 4 year old daughter. The staff treated us to a special Hula Pie to cap off our delicious meal! Will return again during our next trip to the island. Thanks to John, the evening manager and the rest of the staff for a great time.
Second time in Maui, this time for our honeymoon. We casually were looking for restaurants that were not $$$$ but had that ritzy feel. We found Duke's beach house bc of their amazing happy hour... we got there too late to enjoy but their dinner menu was affordable and AMAZING! Worth every penny. Dreyson was our server and he gave us amazing dinner choices and even discussed fun excursions we were wanting to do. He even told us about a spot where all the local surfers go, so hopefully we can go tomorrow and watch the surfers in action. Food was great, we had the calamari to start with and our dinner choices were the seafood risotto and a yummy fish dish. Both were to die for! Definitely a restaurant worth going back for!
