Duke's Beach House Maui Ratings and Reviews
Food was good but nothing spectacular. We had the snapper and mahi. Served the appetizer and salad at the same time. We weren’t even done with those when the entrees arrived. The server was not paying attention. Had Duke’s lemonade and it was terrible. Watered down and no flavor. It was served in a tiny wine glass instead of a lemonade glass. Too many other places to go. We won’t be back
Duke's was our favorite dinner spot in Kaanapali during our recent week long vacation. We went there out first night and were delighted by the food, service, atmosphere, location, scenery, and live music (Damien Awai on Sunday evening). We loved it so much that we had to return for our last night in Maui. Once again, it did not disappoint. The fish entrees are fresh and unique; the salads and appetizers are amazing; and last, the dessert (HALEAKALA LAVA CAKE!!!) was outstanding. The wait staff go above and beyond to be friendly and engaging as well as prompt and efficient. And the sunsets over Lanai are breathtaking.
We frequently visit Dukes on the Mainland and Hawaii. Food quality is good and they are able to keep it consistent. Table was ready at the time of our reservation. Our server was ok, not rude or unfriendly. But we felt abandoned after she realized we were not going to order cocktails or appetizers. Took our food order and only came back with the check. “How was everything? Here’s your check.” We were very surprised because this is not usual service we have received in the past. Hula pie makes up for that!!
This was our second dinner at Dukes, and it was better then the first. Seated promptly as we arrived, our server was knowledgeable and personable. We always had full water glasses, hot food and a clear table. The food was delicious and portion sizes were very good. Fantastic view! We would go back again.
Overall - we love Dukes! However, we would not go back to this location. The menu did not match what was served (I.e. a desert described as covered in berries...but no berries...or mashed potatoes with surprise ingredients. Typically you can choose your fish and then select how it’s prepared- not at this site. Also - no famous Duke’s salad bar. Total disappointment compared to other locations.
The food is just ok. Fresh line caught fish ruined by over cooking. Salad pretty boring considering it was the local farmed salad. They need to pay more attention to quality when cooking the food. The service was great.. our waiter playful fun and on top of everything. We had to wait 30 Min even though checked in on time.
This was our first restaurant experience in Maui. We had a 6:00 reservation in hopes of catching the sunset, however, we weren't seated until almost 6:30 and missed most of it. Still, the view was beautiful and the food was delicious. The fish is local and delivered daily, and was by far some the freshest, tastiest, most beautifully prepared I've ever eaten. I highly recommend the swordfish, keeping in mind Hawaiian swordfish is completely different the what you would get in the mainland. My husband had the filet with an add-on of lobster, however the server forgot the lobster. He did give us a free dessert to make up for it. The mojito I was fantastic and look forward to trying other of their craft cocktails.
