The Duke of Wellington Inn is nestled in the tranquil Tyne valley village of Newton just off the A69 near Corbridge, within easy access to Newcastle, Hadrian"s Wall Country, Hexham and Northumberland's National Park. The décor reflects the traditional country inns history but with a modern twist. Existing oak and stone has been enhanced with modern colours, furniture and fabrics, and the theme extends to the bedrooms.
Lunches and dinners are served seven days a week in the bar and dining room. The food provided is traditional British comfort eating to an exceptional standard and makes use of local, seasonal ingredients. A comprehensive range of beers and ales compliments an extensive wine list. The inn experience continues with seven bedrooms providing a very high quality of luxury accommodation. The outstanding views across the Tyne valley provide the ultimate conclusion to a visit to the Duke of Wellington which will stay with you long after you leave.

We found the pastry on the apple and blackcurrant very hard and not crumbly. Staff excellent and a little expensive.

Excellent overall experience! The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and flavoursome and served in a timely manner. Would not hesitate to recommend The Duke of Wellington.

We were not in any rush so the following didn’t really affect us, However, we waited almost half an hour for our table (booked for 3 and then didn’t sit down in restaurant area till about 3.30). Service was a little slow I felt we had been forgotten about on more than one occasion or at least not assigned a particular member of staff as other tables seemed to have been. Food was excellent - the best slices of beef I have had for a long time!

Trip out of town for a change. Had the tandoori chicken burger,my partner the crispy garlic chicken,both with chips. Both excellent. Tandoori chicken was delicious and well cooked,crispy garlic chicken the same. Both rated 11 out of 10 but no room for sweet after. Highly recommended. Beautiful location plenty of parking and attentive staff. Excellent.
