Great brunch - started with a biscuit with strawberry preserves. Had the Boss Hog and bacon pimento cheeseburger for main meals- everything was delish! Wear pants with an elastic waist!
Love this place..Brought 7 ladies with me yesterday for brunch because I bragged about the food especially the smoked wings and all was saying how good everything was. Afterwards 6 ladies ordered smoked wings to go.
Very limited staff, it took over fifteen minutes before a waiter came to the table and another 10-15 to receive our drink order. Service began to speed up after placing our food order but you call tell they’re extremely under-staffed.
Loved the southern style home cooking at Due South. Checked all the boxes!
The food was great but hated how close the small tables were.
The food did not have a real southern flavor.
Blackened Catfish: No flavor. It was bland for the most part. Did not have the spicy New Orleans flavor.
Brussels Sprouts: Very bland, no salt or other spices to give it any flavor.
Brisket Chili: It was like a bowl of flavorless tomato soup. No spices were added to give it any depth, no heat. Very disappointing.
Mac & Cheese: Very disappointing, no flavor. Just some cheese put in the middle of some pasta. There needs to be a melting cheese roux poured over the pasta, then a combination of at least three other cheeses mixed together with the pasta, and then baked for 45 minutes to an hour.
There really needs to be more spices and flavor to the dishes. A quick tasting trip to New Orleans would do wonders. I am sure the chef is top-notch, but I was surprised at the lack of flavor.
Food was ok. Not great. Large portions. Service was prompt. The person at the table next to us claimed to have seen a mouse under the table next to hers, refused to pay her bill and walked out.
Went to Due South for brunch with 2 friends. The ambiance & atmosphere was very nice. We ordered the eggs benedict, big boss, and the burger. All of our dishes were good with the exception of the home fries which were underdone (hence the 4 star rating vs 5).
We had outdoor seating, the food, service and ambience was perfect. Would only say, it would be so very good to have more choices on the menu but our vegetable scramble with brisket was amazing!!!
Our waiter, Mike, was fantastic! The absolute best. He was so attentive and kind. 5 stars.
Mike is the best! We had an amazing time and will be back!
I loved the food and the atmosphere. This was a great place to have dinner.
Food was hot and tasty upon arrival. Service was slow.
Excellent service! Good food. Had brisket (tender), collard greens (light bacon flavor; could have stood heavier "collard" taste), potatoe salad (good), pickles (spicy), and cornbread (dry). Server was very conversational which we enjoyed. Sat outdoors so noise level was not quiet, yet fine for long visit with my friend. My only real complaint was outside signage. I walked by the restaurant (and circled the block) 2.5 times before calling my friend (reservation was almost expired) and she literally talked me from around the corner, down 3 streets, to the restaurant. Need better signage at Water Street. Summary: I will eat there again.
Food was good... I didn't expect ham in my shrimp and grits, but understand southern fare often has a pork influence. Other than that it was pretty good.
One of my favorite spots that never disappoints! Great food, great drinks and A1 service.
Rats running through the outside patio. I would not go back.
Overall this place is nice. The food was ok..not as good as it was pre-pandemic. We have eaten here many times before and this time I notice the food wasn't as good as it had been. I love the location and will certainly be back. I'm confident things will gradually go back to being normal again with all of the restaurants.
Nice and rats running around outside. Felt rushed to order. Have eaten here before and had a good experience. Might be a whole before we try again.
The food was good, but service was subpar. It took a long time to get orders in, and the hostess messed up the seating. I won’t be returning.
As usual, it was amazing.
We had a girls brunch here! Food was soooooo good! Our waiter Mike was so fun and you can tell he loves his job! We are definitely coming back for Happy Hour when Mike works!
The customer service and satisfaction were impeccable. The in-person food delivery and presentation were exceptional.
We had brunch before a Nats game and everything was fabulous. Cocktails superb, starters awesome and the brunch entrees tremendous. Service was prompt, friendly and very professional. We had an awesome time and will be back!
All of the food had the same seasoning. The pork chop was tough and overcooked. The server didn’t come to check on us after the food was brought to the table. The outside dining area had stacks of building materials piled up in between their restaurant and the restaurant next door. It was a completely underwhelming experience.
I didn't know anything about Due South. A friend saw it while visiting another Restaurant in the area. The Crab Fritters was much better than I thought they would be (awesome). Our Waiter was attentive, prompt and kind. I would recommend Due South to my friends.
Great food with a great outdoor setting! Will be back soon!
First time at restaurant. Beautiful day to enjoy outdoor dining. Ashley, our server, was very personable and efficient. Good food. Would go again.
Service was excellent. They were very friendly and accommodating. The food and drinks came fast. While service was good, the food lacked flavor. Definitely a poor effort at Southern fare, but I see what they tried to do. Don’t order the shrimp and grits if you are expecting proper shrimp and grits. Keep it simple Due South. Butter and salt are your friend. Don’t use frozen biscuits. Nobody wants that.
The space was relaxing, and old school music. Everything was so peaceful that it gave my family a chance to communicate.
The service was absolutely horrible. My table was seated over 20 minutes before our server came to the table. I had to repeatedly ask for things over and over and the restaurant was not super packed so I'm not sure what the issue was. I ordered the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer. They were good and then for my entrée I got the fried chicken with a side of mac and cheese and greens. The greens were delicious, the mac was bland and the fried chicken was good. The one alcoholic beverage I did order was a joke and tasted like straight up peach tea, no hint of alcohol in sight. My guest had visited the restaurant a few times and said that the service was not like that on her prior visits, so this may have been a bad evening for them. I may visit again to give them another shot, but I doubt it will be in the near future.
I like the location, the cocktails, the food...it is easy with good customer service.
Everything was very nice. I would definitely come again!
Excellent service, delicious food. I could eat that blackened catfish every day 😋
The food was super tasty but the best thing was the service! Michal was our waiter and they were so great! Very personable and so funny! Michael definitely made the meal so much more enjoyable. We will definitely be returning for brunch!
I had the breakfast burrito and it was very good. Extremely hot like it just came off the stove. I also loved the biscuit with jelly. No butter was needed. My friend had the chicken and waffles and the crab and corn fritters. She liked the fritters and waffle, but felt the fried chicken was cooked too long - dry.
Overall the food was wonderful, kudos to the chef. Upon arrival at the restaurant, the hostess was very rude to the entire party of four. She did not make us feel welcome at all. During the meal there were countless moments where we sat waiting for the server to come back. Had to flag down the manager at one point to get our server’s attention. On the menu they offer a Bottomless Mimosas option. In the two hour period we were at the restaurant, we received 3-4 mimosas. It would have been cheaper to order by the glass due to the slowness of the service. If you’re going I would recommend sitting at the bar, it looked as though they were receiving the best service in the entire restaurant. It was an exhausting experience that needs to be corrected.
The food was outstanding, portions perfect, seemed like they were short staffed so there service wasn’t flawless but we didn’t mind. They genuinely apologized and made it right by comping our apps. Very classy and not necessary at all, as anyone this privileged to go eat such delicious food shouldn’t be complaining when having to wait 5 extra minutes for such a high-end meal. So overall all, we loved it.
Even in a bad rain storm, it was a wonderful dinner at Due South. Pulled Pork Nachos and Blackened Salmon special were outstanding!
Great spot for a special occasion. Outdoor seating has an awning.
