The food was great and we had a great server. The atmosphere was lively, but not chaotic. I'd highly recommend and can't wait to return.
The food and drinks were delicious. Service was slow and the waiter seemed overwhelmed. However, that wouldn’t prevent me from returning.
Great chicken biscuit!
Food was great, service was even better and the brunch deal was perfect for my boyfriend and I to share. Would 100% go back!
The lukewarm biscuits were delicious, but the other food items ordered tasted awful. Shrimp and grits was more like weird tasting spicy gravy and grits. Crab fritters were overcooked- fried too dark and hard. Cole slaw vegetables were wilted and dressing was a sloppy weird tasting mess. The greens also had an off-putting sweet-vinegary taste.
In the women’s restroom, there is a farm style sink with two sets of faucets. The soap dispenser is mounted above shoulder height on the wall to the right and there are stalls to the left of the sink area. After I finished using the restroom, I was standing at the sink using the set of faucets to the right next to the wall and the soap dispenser. An employee exited the other bathroom stall, rinsed her hands WITHOUT SOAP and left to resume working. She would have had to reach over (or go behind) me to access the soap dispenser mounted on the wall over my right shoulder. Granted, you never know what goes on behind closed doors at a restaurant, but I will never go back to this place ever. Terrible day ruining experience.
Good food. Friendly wait staff.
We book out dinner at 8:30 pm for 4 people, both of us arrived at 8:15 and ask them to give us table to seat and order our food, but guest service said they can’t give us table until 4 of us be there ., and their kitchen will close at 9 pm ,, that was stressful dinner , I don’t know why they give us table at 8:30 and close their kitchen at 9 .,, not happy , not recommended
I really enjoyed the service at Due South on Saturday. It was my birthday! I came in with a party of 7 after there was a mixup with the reservation on OpenTable. The general manager, Kelly and her staff went out of their way to accommodate me and my guests. It was a great night and I'll definitely come back. Thanks!
Staff was very polite and food was average. The main issue with the restaurant was the time in between visits from wait staff after being seated. It was almost as if we were seated between waiter sections. When we did have a server attend to us it was to apologize for the long wait.
Due South is always a good bet! Thank you for another delicious dinner.
The food was phenomenal. The service was outstanding! The restaurant was clean and we all felt safe.
Simply put: delicious food, fairly priced and exceptional service.
Great evening by the river and many lovely flowers. Great food, nice wines and very helpful server. Recommend for an upscale, casual meal with a view-when on outdoor patio.
The food was subpar, but the server made it horrible. We traveled all the way from Florida excited to eat there (based on a recommendation) to be met by a server who apparently had a bad day. I wish I knew her name because she was not a good reflection of the restaurant. We made the hostess aware that we wanted to change areas and wanted a waitress change. Well, our section was changed but we were assigned the same waitress. The hostess told us that she spoke with her. Let’s just say that, that made it worse. NEVER AGAIN!
GREAT service and great food! Would absolutely recommend for brunch!
The Food Was Literally AMAZING and I had NO IDEA you got an entire bottle of Champagne TO YOURSELF! Our Server Mike Was Amazing and I’m definitely looking forward to visiting again!
Food was delicious and service was great!
All orders prepared perfectly. My wife loved the pork chop. Even the drinks were spot on.
Great fried green tomato appetizer, my shrimp and grits was fine, but I think I've had better elsewhere.
My service Ashley was great. The food was not great, Burger was dry with no sauce and the brisket came out with ALOT of fat but our service was helpful with getting better us better pieces with less fat. The hostess was accommodating even though she lied to me about a sitting area I could have sat in but she give it to another couple. Would not recommend the place unless you want drinks and even the drinks are too expensive.. Most be a DC mayor thing..
Food was delicious. Drinks were flowing and the service was perfection!
The smoked wings were amazing! I got 6 wings and the chopped brisket tacos. The tacos were juicy. The Frose was yummy, but if you like a sweet drink like me ask for simple syrup!
Great food. Service is friendly if not a bit slow to start, but not feeling rushed is nice too.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Due South. Everything was great form start to finish. The place was clean, the staff was great, the food was fresh and delicious.
Took our mom there after an afternoon on the water. Had a party of 7 and had trouble finding a reservation. Due South was more than accommodating! My only complaints were the obnoxious table of guys that were clearly hammered and continued ordering tequila shots. Interesting choice of a place to get sloshed, definitely took away from the family outing we were hoping to have. The food was pretty good overall with a few hits but more misses. I had the brisket which was very good, the collards which were good too, and the Mac and Cheese which was very disappointing. It was pretty dry and lacked seasoning. The service however was impeccable. I would consider trying Due South again but would choose different sides. My family had the friend chicken, which I’ve had before too, and I would not recommend getting that.
Granted, with COVID, everything is a little shaky so I’m willing to give Due South the benefit of the doubt. Thank you!
The fried chicken was tasty and a great portion size for the price. Beer was cheap. Service was terrific!
Had a reservation for 830 and was informed last call for food was 845, which is hardly any time. I get the restaurant closed at 9, but then don’t have a seating time at 830. The waitress rushed us out.
The corn fritters are amazing as is the pulled pork!
Very attentive service, awesome outdoor dining with waterfront views. Food was de licitud!
Was going to post this publicly but being in the industry, I understand that things are challenging due to the restrictions. My experience- Got a text stating our table was ready. Went to the host stand with no one there, waited about 10 minutes for a host to show up. Seems like they were a little understaffed so there was a manager running the host stand. No big deal, we get it. However, she sat us at a dirty table. There were waterings left on the table from the previous guests so it wasn’t even wiped down. And keep in mind, a manager had sat us at that table. I usually don’t make that much of a big deal. However, we are in the middle of a pandemic still and if they are not even wiping down tables, I am very curious as to what other sanitation measures they are corner cutting. Took about another 10 minutes for a server to greet us. Once again, we understand what busy is like. We gave our appetizer order and drink orders the second the server got to our table because we knew she was busy and we were starving. 25 minutes later, we finally received our drinks. This is where the frustrating part comes in. We were basically left unattended at our table for nearly a half an hour. After receiving our cocktails, the manager comes to our table and tells us that we need to get our orders in because the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes. Which is kind of hard to take, when we’ve been left alone for a half an hour, still haven’t received our appetizers and had to wait 25 to 30 minutes for cocktails. So, we gave our order to the manager with a couple of deletions due to some dietary requirements. Then, when the food came out, it came out as printed on the menu with none of the deletions we had requested. Additionally, the food was sub par. Being in the industry, we didn’t complain and just chalked it up to the restaurant being understaffed and not prepared for a warm Wednesday night. Not blaming the staff, this one all comes down to management.
drinks, food and service were great !
Fantastic food even better service. Would highly recommend
Our recent trip to Due South was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in DC. As we were escorted to the table the host rudely announced there was a 75 minute time limit for the table (even though there were parties that had been dining well before our arrival and were still going strong as we were leaving at 75 min mark). The service was extremely slow - it took almost 10 minutes to get water cups and almost another 5 before the wait staff came over for other drinks and food. The server only checked on our table once providing no other opportunities to order additional drinks, food, or dessert before they dropped the check. I’m disappointed with our experience at Due South and will not return.
I made a reservation for a monday evening with the intention of having a quick dinner before the nationals game. I made a resveration for 4 people outside at 6:30 PM and got a confirmation and everything for it. We showed up and the restaurant was closed.
Due south is always the best! Great food, great drinks, and a fun atmosphere.
Great experience and great atmosphere extremely accommodating to last minute changes! Loved every bit
Delicious food and drinks. Good price. Will go again.
Double check the menu items to see if they have changed at all. Even with that there were a few substitutions to items that were not listed on the menu or known until the food arrived at the table.
Due South is a great casual dining setting, but the quality of the food and drink is a class beyond any other restaurants of similar ambiance. The service is great and the food is fantastic. Not to mention, an after-dinner stroll along the Capitol Riverfront is a great way to end a great meal!

Yes, you can generally book this restaurant by choosing the date, time and party size on OpenTable. Due to local restrictions, this restaurant may not be accepting reservations at the moment.
