Was sat on the outdoor patio with no shade or umbrella - Stood in the shade next to our table most of the time. Even though we asked to move into the shade and they said they have reservations coming in but no one showed up to those tables.
This is a great spot in a relaxing location. The service was spot on, making you feel welcome from when you walk in the door. The food here is always amazing, as is their season cocktails and rotating taps. Love Due South - one of the best brunch spots in DC!
I have been there several times but was not impressed by this last visit. Food wasn't great and the valet situation was awful.
Delicious food, great cocktails, awesome atmosphere. 10/10 will be coming back when visiting DC!
Great food. Great time. Great service.
A nice place for a meal with friends. Attentive staff, interesting menu, solid food.
Excellent food and service! Love the brunch menu, especially chicken and waffles!
So I've never been at a restaurant where I'm having such a good time with my friends that after we drank, ate, and paid our bill we decided to go for another round of drinks and more food to only be told that we had to get up from the table (be use we were there for over 2 hours) and could find seats at the bar. (Please forgive the run on sentence). When I said the bar is full and can't accommodate the 4 of us the manager says, well there are a few seats over there. He made absolutely NO attempt to accommodate us anywhere else in the restaurant that was NOT even that busy. This is completely and utterly unacceptable behavior from a restaurant. Due South was not that busy on 5/11/19 at approximately 7:15 pm. Who turns away customers who are trying to pay more money in your establishment. I will NOT be back AND I will be telling my friends and acquaintances to not eat here. Horrible. It's interesting how District winery who was MORE busy than Due South was indeed able to accommodate us after just a 5-7 minute wait.
Due South has beautiful and welcoming natural decor that sets the mood once you walk in. The surrounding area around the restaurant is a nice view as well. The food was good I just wish they had more vegetarian options on the brunch menu. The frozen alcoholic beverages are really great!
Food and drinks are on point, 6 out of 6 people that I dined with were very happy with their meal. The server was attentive and very professional. A
Delicious barbeque, crisp pickles, tender sweet potato fries. Very helpful waitstaff and front door hostess
Food was tasty as always but it was so loud, we couldn’t carry on a conversation. I’d go back when it’s sunny and outdoor seating was available.
The beer cheese was excellent. We were there on Derby day so it was loud, but that is to be expected.
I'm from Texas, so southern food is my thing. My girl friends were visiting from Texas & I live in the neighborhood. Since my boyfriend and I had been so pleased with our previous brunch experience we thought dinner would be a hit.
I much preferred brunch over dinner here. The food was very heavy & honestly left me with indigestion. We all ate about a fourth of our food, that's how heavy it was. We got ribs, the gnocchi (table favorite, the veggies tasted so fresh), catfish, wings, and the pimento cheeseburger. I am also a huge fan of Gruyere cheese so we ordered the fries, which turned out to be giant cheese sticks. They would have been very flavorless without the sauce.
One food item you must get is a side of macaroni and cheese.
The drinks, however, were well crafted and extremely delightful.
Our waiter was very kind, attentive, and made us laugh. Being from the south we also think its super funny that they wear flannels. haha
This seems like a very mixed review. BUT we will for sure be back for brunch & if we come back again in the evening it will be to enjoy some of their delicious cocktails & the crawfish dip (which we didn't try this time around).
A great post baseball venue. A good, rotating, selection of draft beers.
A cozy place.
B-day Brunch event with friends was good time, good food & good service. Wanted to stay longer, possibly order desserts but we ran out of time before next reservation. :(
Great food, great service, great reccomendations from the server
It was a cool place to grab delicious drinks and ok food while catching up with friends.
Unfortunately, the ambience and customer service far outweighed the food. The food is quite pricey for a ‘southern/BBQ’ restaurant. My boyfriend and I tried this place out on a weeknight, after sampling wine. We ordered the wings and brussel sprouts, which were very good. For
the main course, I tried to stick to something simple, as I wasn’t too pleased with the dining options. I ordered the fried chicken (deboned and flattened breast) with string beans and grits. The chicken was very, very bland with the bread coating removed. The chicken was fried in a way that it naturally separated when cut into. My boyfriend was even displeased with the lack of flavor. This continued throughout my side dishes. My boyfriend ordered the BBQ platter, which he said was ‘okay’.
It was a nice try, but nothing close to southern or BBQ cuisine, I will not be returning. Especially after the $100 bill....
We went for Easter Sunday brunch. We sat outside because it was a gorgeous day. We really enjoyed the food and ambiance. I had shrimp and grits and hubby had the eggs benedict. Both were delicious! Our server was very pleasant and attentive.
Amazing food and accommodating wait staff! I would highly recommend Due South - my parents already want to go back!
It was decent, server was a bit difficult. We ordered bottomless mimosa, and he told us we needed to leave the table because they had another party coming in, in 25 min (we had been at the table for close to an hour at that point). We closed out and asked if he could fill up our glasses again and we will get out of the way. He said he couldn't because we were closed out. We said we paid for 2 hours of bottomless and he said "up-to" and that we would need to buy new ones at the bar. We reasoned with him, and he poured one last glass. We went over by the bar.... no reservation sat at the table...
Very enjoyable outdoor patio. Food and drinks were good. Service was great.
Went here for brunch with a friend, right when they opened. Service was GREAT! I never saw the bottom of my mimosa, until I asked our waitress to stop refilling! The biscuits are AMAZING. We started with the “side” of one with butter/ jam- delicious. My friend had the Hot chicken and biscuit and I had the Benedict. Potatoes were great, but the plates seemed a little bare. The pulled pork on the Benedict was pretty good, and while my friend’s chicken was moist, she wasn’t a huge fan of the seasoning. We will def be back for biscuits a la carte and hopefully lunch/ dinner!
Disappointed that seating was limited, and that outdoor seating was not an option despite tables being set and excellent weather. Seems like servers were picking where people would sit
Best wings I've ever eaten. The main courses were tasty. Portion size varies based on entrée. Beer selection OK. Restaurant is noisy.
Overall we had a great experience at Due South. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and our server was fantastic (I overheard her telling the table next to us that it was her first night and I never would have guessed). The only complaint I have is that when I went to the restroom, someone earlier clearly must have had an "explosive" experience and there was definitely evidence of it splattered on the floor and the lower part of the wall. An employee came in while I was there to put a new roll of toilet paper in that stall and somehow didn't notice the mess. Would I go back? Yes. Would I use the restroom there again? Probably not.
Awesome food and drinks. Great draft beers.
Wife’s birthday so tried Die South. We will recommend to friends and family.....
The collards were some of the best I’ve tasted.
Our waiter Daniel was wonderful, he was the reason we tried the collards. Thanks Daniel!
Ordered starters and entrees for brunch, but it all came at once and was cold (even though we ordered hot dishes). We were rushed out by our server as well, which really put a damper on the morning. We really loved the sausage biscuit though and would order that again.
I celebrated a birthday party at Due South with 16 people in my party. I made my reservation over 3 months ago. Seating was a huge issue!! Any time I dealt with the management, Sean or Brianna the hostess they were unfriendly and short with me. The food is always good but it was if the hostess (Brianna) wanted to punish me for having that number of people. She told me and other guests in my party very rudely that we could not sit everyone at the table.
I have been to Due South numerous times and found the servers are always friendly, managers not so friendly. Sierra found a way to have all of my party at the one big table. I really appreciated her making it work so we could all sit together. We spent a lot of money at Due South and she really saved the day!
This was my second time coming to due South, however my first time coming for brunch. The food was wonderful the service was great would definitely recommend it to others.
My third time to Due South and again a great experience. G. provided exceptional service and was extremely attentive. The food was delicious. This is definitely my go to place for lunch and weekend brunch!
They messed up my opentable reservation and the company closed my account because they said i didn’t show up
They should have told us before sitting that they were out of literally half the menu.
Food was quality, though not exceptional. The guys in our party split the Pitmaster’s Platter. They commented that the pulled pork was somewhat fatty, but the brisket was pretty good. They didn’t have much to say about the sausage, but REALLY enjoyed the ribs. I had the shrimp & grits - pretty good, but spicier than what I’ve had elsewhere. The other gal in our group had the Ricotta Gnocchi & Short Rib Ragu. THAT was amazing (she let me try it). The lone child in our party had mac & cheese and baked beans. Both were pretty bland - I expected much more bbq flavor in the beans. Service was just ok - he wasn’t rude, just not overly attentive. And for those beer afficianados reading this....the Due South beers on the menu are NOT theirs (i.e., not brewed by them - or any other small craft beer place, either). For some reason, they put their names on some rather “standard” beers.
They ran out of fish and most of the things on the menu
When we arrived the restaurant was not busy. We asked to be seated in a booth in the main restaurant but we were seated in a small room at the back of the restaurant. We were seated at the exact same table the last time we visited. It was cut off, small and loud. Would have been nice to experience the main restaurant. There was no one seated at the bar but our server said the 15 minute delay getting our drinks was because the bar was backed up? Not sure what that was all about. Food was great. Not sure if we will give it another try or not.
A little frustrated about how the restaurant honored the reservation...we arrived on time, many hours after the Nats game season opener was over. Restaurant was busy, but not overcrowded. We were led by a hostess to a nice table in the corner, only to be asked by hostess, without explanation, to move. Apparently it was to seat two other guests w/o a reservation (my dining companion overheard them saying to each other that they should have made a reservation). We were moved to a table right next to the door to outdoor seating, where it became clear that we were going to be subjected to a draft every 30 seconds as servers came in and our. When we asked to move, we were told that the booths were for “people with reservations,” and were seated directly next to the original table, despite several other open tables to the left, creating a very awkward situation for all. To their credit, the diners at our original table apologized and asked us if we wanted our table back, which we declined of course.
We had a nice time after that, and the food was wonderful as usual. But why be an Open Table restaurant if you are going to treat diners with OT reservations like second-class citizens? I’m also a repeat customer of this establishment, and it was kind of embarrassing with my out-of-town guest, with whom I really talked up the restaurant.
Clean and spacious, good vibe. The most of food was not bad compared to price. But one of our service was horrible. I think I won’t recommend to go there again..
