The service was very neglectful. Wrong orders and 15-20 mins between opportunities to find/talk to service staff or even get greeted once sat.
Food was divine! Great authentic quality! Will return, soon!
Co-worker send off
I love this place! Best chicken and waffles and mimosas!
My first time there and I had a splendid time. The service was wonderful and the food was fantastic. They even brought out dessert for my birthday! The place was quiet especially for a Saturday so my party and I could have great conversations and everyone could hear each other. I couldn’t ask for a better place to spend my 40th Birthday!
The food is delicious the service is terrible. We sat in the bar section where you had to go up to the bar to order your food and drinks. The food came it was delicious but when we were done we had to ask several times for our plates to be cleared away we ended up clearing them away ourselves. Even though employees were standing right next to us. The stupid thing is if we had actually sat at the bar the bar tenders serve the food, takes your drink order, and clear everything away. If you sit in the booth you have to do all of that yourself.
Due South always has great food and service. Our favorite place in the Yard.
The food and ambiance were good.
Can't say that about the service. My guests and I had to ask for too many things. Waiter was not really that attentive.
The food was delicious, but the service wasn’t great. Our server didn’t come by when our drinks were empty and our food wasn’t right and nothing was done to fix it
Great experience at due south for our anniversary!
Fine and convenient, would not seek it out.
I dined here for Brunch with a friend. It was super noisy but we still had a really great time. The biscuits are absolutely divine! Like sooo good. I had the crab soup, which was a bit under seasoned with very thin cuts of crab. I also had the sausage and gravy which was really good! Sometimes sausage and gravy can be really salty, but this was well balanced.
The cheddar grits were NOT good. I found them horribly bland and the texture was off. For my entree I had the pulled pork Benedict. The hollandaise sauce is mustard base and sort of threw off the taste of the meal, but the biscuit, eggs and pulled pork were awesome. Overall, we enjoyed our meal, despite the noise and a few bland sides. I’d definitely return for brunch again.
I’ve been to brunch but haven’t been for dinner and decided to try it out on Vday the food was amazing our drinks were on point couldn’t complain
Our service was great. The food was more than I expected!! I had the blackened catfish at which was cooked to perfection. Great dining choice.
Asked Host to sit in room with the windows (vs the back cramped room) and he said no those are for people with reservations. I said we have a reservation. Sorry they are for other guest. Won't be going back anytime soon.
Food was average. Did not blow you away or make me say that I have to come back. Maybe because I ate brunch foods.
Went here for a birthday celebration. Food was okay but not outstanding. Our particular server was somewhat standoffish but did her job soooo that's that. My shrimp and grits were flavored well.
Overall, nice restaurant but nothing that's really pushing me to go back.
Delicious! We enjoyed it all...we were a large group so we sampled most of the menu - corn hush puppies and the vidalia dip appetizers...avocado and crab toast...barley bowl...baby back ribs...catfish...brisket...all top notch. The sides were just as good...collards, potato salad, mac & cheese and brussel sprouts were all up to par. The desserts...bread pudding, apple crisp and the AMAZING peanut butter pie. Due South is a consistent favorite...
We went for brunch. The first issue with when we arrived for our reservation we had to wait 15min past our time before we even able to sit, and the host didn't apologize/give explanation for the wait nor offer water, drink, etc while we stood around waiting to be seated. Once we were seated our server Riley was good and very attentive. I was not really impressed with the food, although the biscuits were actually good. I understand that brunch is not always the best gauge for a restaurant however I would not recommend brunch at here, dinner could be better.
Great food! Awesome location and very nice service.
We went for restaurant week and the four of us were more than satisfied with the flavors of the food the proportions and timely manner we were served. The huge windows offer a great atmosphere in addition to the coZiness of a not too large place but the perfect size. Our only setback was our server who was dismissive didn’t introduce herself no smile or engagement at all and she each time she checked on us she did as she was walking by or standing off from our table as if we dare not need anything. The staff who brought our food and cleaned the table was much more pleasant and inviting. We highly recommended this place and will be back in the very near future and look forward to when the weather breaks and we can enjoy the outdoor sitting
Went during restaurant week and ordered off the special menu—3courses $35. Everything delicious. Our entrees (buttermilk chicken and pulled pork were flavorful. No salt and pepper on table and not needed.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food but I believe our server had too many tables to attend to, because the service was lacking. Hopefully I'll have a better experience in the future, because I will definitely go back!
Excellent choices on the Resturant Week menu for an altogether great tasting. Good portions. Discounted house wines were a nice touch
Awesome. The burger is one of the best in DC.
Great service!! Very accommodating!
I have been here many times. The food is consistently great everytime. Definitely worth a try.
We had a large group of 9, with kids. The service was outstanding and food is delicious. The biscuits were sinful, chicken and biscuit yummy, and if you are really hungry order the Boss Hog!
Christmas Eve before NATS park
My family went for dinner before the Enchanted Event. Good food. Nice atmosphere. I made the reservation for 4 and I forgot it was 5. My only disappointment was they gave us a table for 4 and made the 5th fit. The restaurant was not busy. I wish they had seated us at a different table so we weren’t on top of each other. We all had bbq and were very pleased.
Due South is my go to restaurant for business dining. It’s only a few minutes from my job and the food and service is great!
Due South is one of our staples and we love having them in the neighborhood. The food is consistently good no matter the meal, and our servers are always thoughtful and friendly. We especially appreciate how welcoming and accommodating they are for families with younger kids both in ambiance and offering a kids menu. Thank you!
We had Parker as a server and he’s amazing !!!! Was so friendly and gave us great service
Awesome food and service was that best. First time there but definitely will not be our last!!!
Really nice surprise. I took coworkers for a holiday lunch. Very nice place to celebrate and the food is delicious. The chicken sandwich is outstanding, spicy and appropriately messy. Excellent selection of beer on tap. I will definitely come back for dinner.
The server was amazing. I don’t remember her name but she was absolutely wonderful. Our party of 8 received automatic gratuity of somewhere between 16-18 percent.
This is a fabulous place for really great appetizers and some comfort southern food. The drinks selection is also great. Go with the office folks frequently and really enjoy the vibes as well. Great for large parties, get togetherness with friends, dates or every day dining and lunch whatever you want. It’s so convenient if you’re in the Navy Yard area as well!
The food was good, but the service left a little to be desired. We came for brunch, which is usually a relatively quick meal. We ordered a hush puppy appetizer and 3 entrees. It took 45 minutes from the time we ordered until when we got our meals, with two other tables in our area who arrived and ordered well after us receiving their food first. Our hush puppies never came until after we were finished with our entrees (though they were eventually comped). We are usually a pretty easy going table, but until the very end, there was no explanation, apology, or communication around what was causing the wait. They kept insisting that it was on its way. Unfortunately, the service colored the experience and we probably wouldn't go back.
Food and service were excellent, will definitely return soon!
