Excellent food and service! Too many good options
A jewel in Lincoln Square. Solid menu and very welcoming staff. Extremely knowledgeable about thier wine slelection. Have been coming here for years and love the experience. Thanks Massimo!
Excellent food and service!
I like GREAT food. Maybe I am picky but this was average (and that's generous). It's a great location. It was my birthday and I made a reservation and let them know it was. I received the worst table in the place back corner in hallway by coats and bathroom. The service was mediocre - too many larger parties occupied our waiters attention. The entrée I ordered (Duck confit) had small pieces of bone and was over salted. Didn't bother with dessert but did not even receive a complimentary birthday treat. Was not a good place to go to celebrate.
Lovely, authentic Italian. Great wine selection.
Really delicious homemade pastas. Attention to detail. Good flavors. Staff are kind and know the menu well. Owner is happy to give wine suggestions and in general everyone very approachable. This is a place that is similar to what you find in Italy, because it is run by an Italian who knows good ingredients and how to prepare them. People return over and over for the delicious flavors and fresh taste. Also really yummy desserts. And a fine wine list as well.
Lots of people were fit into a small space. Waiter was very knowledgeable on dishes and I changed my order when he was describing another one to my friend but I still got the original order and my friend got the wrong one as well. The food was good, but not as good as I expected.
Due Lire is fast becoming one of my favorite restaurants in the Lincoln Square area. I would go back for just about any occasion. My only reservations would be if you have someone who is challenged physically or has hearing issues. The room is tightly packed, hard to move around, and there is a lot of background noise. Otherwise, it's a great option.
The food and service was very good but gin with my drink had an odd taste to it.
Great food and outstanding service. We will definitely come back to this restaurant.
We love this neighborhood gem! Great Italian food and wine, with great service.
Fresh and authentic meals with outstanding service. The specials are always interesting and new. The staff is so kind and work so well together... everything flows! It’s my new favorite Italian restaurant!
Love this place. It is both faithful to traditional Italian and at the same time inventive. Reminds me of the best little places in Italy. The menu is not huge but they have lots of specials. Short ribs with saffron rissotto was fantastic.
Great as always! Greeted warmly by host, efficient staff, well-priced wine list and yummy cocktails! The food is always more interesting than a "typical" Chicago Italian restaurant!!
We had a lovely time at Due Lire. Our the food, wine, and service were all excellent. We started with the soup of the day and grilled vegetables My husband had the cavatappi for his main and I had the lamb chop special. The sausage with the cavatappi had a wonderful flavor and my lamb chops were grilled to the exact temperature I requested. Dessert was the cherry panna cotta, so nice! We will be back frequently!
We went here because it is close to the Old Town School of Folk Music and we had concert tickets on a Friday night. They were able to serve us quickly without our feeling rushed. The pasta entrees were creative and tasty.
The food was outstanding. The braised beef with risotto was just perfect. It was the best that I have ever had. The gnocchi was also superb. The waiter was very attentive and accommodating.
The service is excellent, the food is delicious, the wine selection is great! The only complaint that I have is that the tables for two are really close together, you almost feel like you should be having a conversation with the people next to you because you can definitely hear what they are saying.
We were heading to a concert in the area and decided to try Due Lire. Wow, was I impressed with the service, food and experience. Cozy family own place with great food. Highly recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Due Lire. The service was excellent (and aware that we had concert tickets nearby), the food was great. We'll be back.
We always enjoy Due Lire. Great drinks and creative, perfectly prepared food. They were flexible when our party became 6 instead of 4 on a Saturday night. Definitely plan to keep returning
Nice local spot. Very good service. Very fresh food.
It was our birthdays and we love Italian food and wanted to try someplace new. We like small neighborhood restaurants so Due Lire sounded perfect for us and it did not disappoint! We loved the food, the wine, the cozy ambience and the service. And as a bonus it is a very good value---high quality food and wine and reasonable prices. We will be back and we won't wait for our birthdays.
The only thing I would suggest changing is the music. It wasn't intrusive because it was low in volume, but we felt it could have been more low key like the overall vibe.
We love this restaurant. Kevin was very informative about the menu.
The mushroom vegetable soup was amazing. Pasta was delicious and the ahi tuna was perfect.
Service was exceptional. Attractive plating, generous portions. The main dining area is somewhat crowded and can get a little noisy. Otherwise, this is an excellent choice for a date night or special occasion.
Food was delicious and the staff was charming and helpful. It was a wonderful evening outdoors. They have outdoor heaters, in case the night air gets a little cool.
Absolutely delicious. One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago
This is real find. The Calamari is exceptional. The recipes outstanding. I would suggest stem wear instead of regular glasses for wine
Went for a friends bday. The outdoor patio was charming, the wait staff amazing and the food delicious. A favorite!
Wow.. Had the Short Rib Ravioli with an amazing porcini mushroom reduction sauce which was outstanding...fabulous intense flavor. Loved it. But at $19 it was a very small portion... had to order bread which they CHARGED for. Sorry but come on... include bread with your meals. Yes the paid bread did have herbed butter and tomato spread, but I would have been happy with crusty bread included with no dips. OK so having said that the pastas were fresh homemade and sauces amazing... if it was a bit more affordable I would come back every other week at least instead of occasionally.
All depends on your budget..... food quality fab!
Very much enjoyed the experience. Good service. Half price wine on Wednesday. Good outdoor area in back...inside looks good too, darker for a more intimate experience. Food was great, especially the bread side. Would go again for certain.
Always the best pasta, gnocchi, and overall Italian in the City. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. It feels like home, but with high level cuisine.
My wife and I have been coming to Due Lire nearly since it opened. On the way home from our most recent visit this past Saturday night, we were talking about how, of all of our favorite restaurants, Due Lire is the *ONLY ONE* of them at which we have never had a bad experience. All other favorite restaurants of ours, there have been at least one experience that was less that perfect...either a favorite dish was not quite right or a server was having a bad day. Not at Due Lire. The food is simply exquisite. Full stop. You cannot and will not go wrong with anything on the menu. Portion sizes are perfect, which allows for an authentic Italian dining experience where you can have several courses. But above and beyond all of that, it's the service at Due Lire that gets it right every single time. Many restaurant owners and their staffs are good, but it takes a GREAT restaurant to understand the give and take of a leisurely meal. We love taking our time, sipping our wine, and savoring every bite of every course, all at a slow pace. But then when the time comes to settle up and leave, we want to do it quickly and efficiently. Some restaurants only get one of these two elements right. Due Lire nails them both every time. Every server we have ever had has ALWAYS understood course pacing, and not only are they cool with you taking your time, they actively encourage it. For the service alone, do they deserve all the awards and all the business. But the food is brilliant also.
The pasta dishes were quite small for the amount paid. My dish was not warm and not particularly memorable. It was my birthday and they seemed bothered to do anything for it. Finally, the server made a very uncouth comment about leaving tip that was unwarranted. I was really looking forward to it, but disappointed in the end.
Somehow this was not my best experience here. Had the short rib ravioli and it was quite al dente, and the portion seemed small. The shrimp ravioli was excellent, though. The saltimbocca was tasty, if a bit overcooked. Maybe an off night.
Loved sitting on the out door patio. Food and service were terrific.
We had a lovely time dining at Due Lire on Saturday evening! We were fortunate to get a great table in the garden. The food was delectable, the wine suggestions from our server were spot on and the food came out in a very timely fashion. Everyone who helped us was super friendly and well informed about the menu. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it!
Such a great experience and our server Kevin was fabulous.
Food was really good and service was excellent. The foccia is a must!!
