Due Lire Ratings and Reviews
The food was excellent, however being a smaller restaurant hosting a large party the noise level was amped up. Once the huge party left, it was much more comfortable. Our server was very good but slightly overwhelmed. It wasn't her fault at all, but the restaurant could have used a 2nd wait staff. All being said, I'd definitely go back. It's still much better than many Italian restaurants in the area.
Due Lire is so good - get the gnocchi with bolognese! Amazing! We were there for a birthday and brought a cake. They served the cake for us and even brought it out with candles on it for my daughter. For no charge! We really appreciated it as she is 12 so a cake was important to her... love this place!! Highly recommend!
Food, service, ambiance were all excellent. My sister and I shared a fresh burrata for appetizer, and she had the ravioli while I had the tagliatelle for entrees. Both were delicious; you can tell that all the pasta was handmade (tagliatelle was so light!). We also got broccoli rabe as a side to share and it had a perfect amount of spiciness. Wine was great as well.
My friend and I ate here before going to American Theater Company ~ no Grey Goose, but very interesting local alternatives that my friend enjoyed. Shared a very good salad and two very different calamari preparations, both very good. The bartender and one waiter kept up with several tables, impressive. Did not have coffee or desert. Will return.
I really enjoy dining at this restaurant. The seafood appetizer is outstanding. All of the pastas are great. The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome. The desserts are top notch as well. The ambiance reminds me of restaurants in Italy and it overall seems to me to be a classic Italian restaurant.
The food was delicious. Unfortunately the restaurant was unbearably LOUD. It was impossible to have a conversation without yelling. Our waitress did not service our table well. She forgot to bring an appetizer for 1 person and brought the polenta fries after the entrees were finished.
Due Lire was a wonderful post-Old Town School of Folk dinner location. We had a reservation, but arrived incredibly early and the staff very graciously sat us early. Friendly service and fantastic food (the Gnocchi is a must!). The portions were perfect. We will be back!
We celebrated a Birthday on a Sunday evening.
It was perfect. We loved the quiet music, our servers were lively and entertaining.
We had one glitch w/ an overdone entree which was redone perfectly without fuss.
My short rib ravioli was delicious!
We will go back 😊
Great food- everything is homemade and delicious. Our server, Kevin, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He paced our meal perfectly and his advice on dishes was spot on. The place is really cute; very small. My only complaint was that I had a reservation and the only table available was the one by the door and in the way of everything. But the place was full and there wasn't much choice. And now I know why the place was full -- the food is exceptional and reasonably priced and the service was excellent. I will be back.
