Dublin 4 Gastropub
First time here and I ordered the lobster pie...I did not enjoy it, as far as I am concerned it had no flavor and the few bits of lobster I did find were rubbery. My husband, who is from Ireland got the burger and curry chips, he thought the burger was okay, he liked the curry chips but said the curry could have been thicker. Overall, it was pricy for the quality. Not a fan.
A great spot for foodies. A great spot for celebrating special occasions. The food is fabulous and offers one of a kind dishes. Highly recommend the baked mushrooms and potato flatbread appetizers to start. All of the entrees are delicious. The atmosphere is intimate and fun. Cannot wait to go back.
Great time catching up with friends!!
Great, friendly service and good food. My British husband says the sausages are the best he has had in this country (and that is saying a lot). The salmon was cooked to perfection. They were very accommodating to special dietary needs.
Can be noisy because of acoustics, ask for a table in the back room.
Enjoyed myself immensely. Cocktails were fantastic!
Place was great, servers were wonderful, food was delicious. I am going back
Sunday Brunch. Around 1:30 and the place was quiet just the bartender looking after 3 tables and a couple of people at the bar. The service was fine given what he had to cover.
The menu read well and was Artisanal with interesting ingredients associated with a fairly standard menu of Irish pub fare. Upmarket takes on pub grub at fairly steep prices.
The fish and chips with mushy peas were all, except the peas, kind of pedestrian: cod fish instead of meatier/flakier haddock, thinner cut fries not chips. Peas were actual fresh peas mushed, impressive.
Would I go back, probably to try some other things but I am not drawn to the place unless I would be in the area.
I realize it is a bit of a backhanded compliment but it is how I came away from brunch: good but not exciting, a little pricey for what is delivered
I've always had great food, service and attention here. This place is not to be missed.
First time there. Food, beer, & service was excellent.
I'll definitely go back!
Excellent in all respects. However a bit pricy.
My husband and I adore the casual neighborhood gem. We share the Brussels Sprouts as an appetizer. They are delicious. Then I have beet salad and my husband has the PIE mussels
The fish and chips are another popular choice along with the French dip sandwich
We had a great time. The bacon was a burnt and my burger was a medium rare when I asked for medium. But that did not stop us from a great time and we will be returning.
overall good experience, friendly service, cozy, a little on the pricey side for a pub, but would certainly go again.
Great service, great menu, fabulous food...but a bit noisy very hard to have a conversation.
Great food, excellent service. We all had something different - cottage pie, short ribs, sausages, pork loin and we each loved our dishes. We stared with the mushroom appetizer which we’ve gotten before and thoroughly enjoy. Only mediocre was the Meyer lemon and blueberry bread pudding. Just a so-so dessert I could have passed on.
We had a bad experience the last time we went several months ago but the food and drinks are so good we thought we would try again.
Needed a booster seat to reach the table to eat. Service was very poor again. Noise level is high. Apparently, the owner is going on his food and drinks because that is the only positive I can say about our visit.
I was surprised how long it took our meal, salad and crab, avocado, On cracker to come out.
Food was good and fresh.
They needed more help
I thought expensive for what we got.
Surprised at how busy for a Tuesday. Great service. Clean. Meal a little salty. Server knowledgeable.
We love this place. It is casual and friendly but the food is extraordinary. My husband had the steamed mussels which he said were delicious. We shared the brussel sprouts appetizer which were flavorful and fresh. I had the beet and goat cheese salad. Perfect dinner. We had an excellent server who provided good pinot noir wine suggestions too. This is a jewel of a local restaurant. They own the restaurant next door called Wine Works for Everyone which is a bit fancier and equally delicious. We highly recommend both restaurants depending what you are in the mood to eat.
A great wine list as well!
Excellent food - I had the White Shrimp w/Polenta - my fav & my friend had the Kale & Quinoa salad. Nice atmosphere & Great Service!
Yes, of course it’s noisy there, yes, of course the food is great, especially the lamb burgers and salads. Wine list could be better. Parking is ridiculous. Yes, we will go back there, but not often because of all of the above. Service could be better—friendly, but something interesting happened on our last visit. Our server was nice enough to give me a taste of the Chardonnay which I didn’t like. They were out of the Viognier which she had suggested so she brought be a white blend from the restaurant side which was very nice. She smiled and said said the price was comparable and I liked it so I ordered a glass and thought nothing more of it. When the bill came, to our surprise the wine was $22 a glass! Their Chardonnay and Viognier are $12. NOT cool. Normally we tip well., but this time her tip reflected her, shall we say, lack of candor.
Dublin4 has a unique menu, with great options !...service is always ‘first-rate’ !
Well, we gave it a go. We've been here multiple times but due to personal reasons, not in a while. The menu has not changed much, charged for bread & butter, the mussels were OK, the fish & chips had too much batter/too thick. The service was OK, waitress walked away once she realized we weren't ordering desert... could have asked if we wanted our bill or coffee or... Would only come back to sit at bar/meet friends for a drink.
Great food and atmosphere. It’s my new favorite place to have dinner!
Great choice of wine and beer - interesting and delicious take on "Irish" food. Friendly, superior service!
What a great experience! Thanks to OpenTable, we were able to schedule a last-minute dinner in a Friday. And what a discovery! My husband declared shepherd’s pie the best he’d ever had, and my friend and I split a lobster pie. Glad we split it in terms of maintaining caloric goals, but secretly, I coulda devoured the whole thing! The bread pudding helped make up for the other half of the lobster dish very nicely! Yum! A shout-out to the very accommodating and gracious staff! We’ll be back!
Darren the owner was an excellent host and made the entire dinning experience a great evening. This is a hidden jewel. One of the best south county sleeper restaurants. Food is well prepared. Comes out piping hot with a great presentation.
Wonderful food and impeccable service:)
If you want an Irish Pub bar feel eat in the front. If you want a quiet romantic dinner or a business vibe ask to be seated in the back
We have ordered the Lobster Pie. It was an embarrassment. for $22 we received a very small bowl of seafood chowder with frozen vegetables with a few scraps of lobster. I sent it back and received the same thing again. $14 Irish coffee was luke warm with half the whiskey you would expect. This place will never see us again.
On a busy day management should not have only one waitress for a lot of table PLUS be bartending!
We really enjoyed our evening. We were especially impressed with the Armando and his willingness to work with us and our reservation. The Guiness was Irish pub worthy. The food was terrific especially the Brussel spout appetizer.
Food is great, a bit on the expensive side, the staff are wonderful! Furniture is a bit shabby needs some updating.
Love the food, drink menu and overall service! Always have a great experience!
Our reservation was made for 7:15. We arrived on time and waited 10 minutes for a hostess. She told us all tables were full and seated at 7:00 so a table might not be available for 2 hours. She offered to seat us next door at their sister restaurant where we could order off both menus. She brought us over and waived to us to the back of the restaurant. We went towards the only table unoccupied and pulled out a chair. A server immediately, and rudely, asked us what we were doing. Our explanation was met with a rude “Who told you you could sit here? I have people coming in”. Apparently the only seats available were at the crowded bar. After the rude greeting we received at WineWorks, we went back to Dublin4. Not one staff member offered an apology nor an explanation. We were treated as though we were a nuisance despite having made and confirmed our reservation in advance.
Once we were finally seated, our drinks, ordered a good ten minutes prior to ordering our meal, did not arrive until after our appetizers and salads. The food was delicious but hardly made up for the overall experience. We will not be back. Go for lunch which is far less busy.
Excellent service and a wonderful meal. We enjoyed the crab and avocado toast and Reuben rolls as starters!! Our entrees were equally wonderful, with great bottle of wine. Very nice evening, we will be back... Again and again.
Great food. Our waitress Sarah was excellent. Always good food and drinks
The service was great. Most of the food that we ordered was very good, including salads, burgers, Rueben, and 2 appetizers (Brussels and mushrooms). The appetizers were a bit small and the fries were horrible (skinny and tasteless). All in all we enjoyed our dinner and will be back
Great place with wide selection even though a small restaurant
