Drunken Poet Cafe Thai Bistro & Sushi Bar
With dishes to satisfy all tastes, sophisticated dining has never been so much fun! Try the Poet's famous Sexy Man Roll, explore new flavors, or order the Pad Thai for a traditional dish with an awesome presentation.
Whole lobster tail.
Three pieces of shrimp & four pieces of vegetables.
Sauteed jumbo scallops, shrimps, calamari, & New Zealand mussels in Thai basil sauce.
Excellent menu, great choices, fabulous food, attentive service (Danielle did a great job)
We love drunken poet. The lobster roll is something special. I do wish they would clean their ceiling fans. All the decor is so cool but a little dusting goes a long way. Food amazing!!
The atmosphere cannot be beat in regards of a cultural fusion restaurant. However, the food was rather bland. The sashimi seemed mushy. The rolls were no better than one could purchase from Publix. The tea was good but not served properly. We expected a pot of tea, and instead we were served generic cafeteria-style coffee mugs with a teabag. The service was attentive.
Do not get the curry dish served in a young coconut. It was a disaster. The curry curdled and it was not worth the $40 price tag.
Keep with the good service and atmosphere, but make sure the food is fresh and worth the premium price.
We enjoyed visit to Poet Cafe to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Food was good and service was even better. We tried Curry puffs and Pinky in blanket as appetizers. Both were good. The spicy fried rice and green curry rice and pad thai was also very good. Whereas Red curry was average. The ambience is eclectic and noise level was low. This allowed us to have quiet family time while celebrating a birthday.
Sushi was AMAZING!
Amazing sushi and desserts. We will definitely be back.
The food was great, the service was fantastic but the prices are through the roof.
The sushi last night was off the charts. Thank you.
Love this place… excellent service and food!
Every week when I go, they exceed my expectations. I cannot stress how great their sushi is.
As always….the sushi was amazing. Nothing comes close on Manatee/Sarasota county!
The best sushi in Sarasota/Bradenton
Great ambiance and flavorful food. Very happy with the vegan options and wine list.
Friendly staff. Sushi was on point as usual. One of our favorite restaurants in SRQ.
Wonderful mussels, even better laborer pad thai , brown rice was yummy and the friend ice cream was delish as well , will be back here when visiting again .
We weren't very hungry so had a selection of appetizers and they were all very good and plenty of each dish. We will definitely go back.
Great food veeeerrrrrry slow service (45 mins before we got our appetizer) and the place was virtually empty
Unfortunately reservations don't help. With a reservation waited 40 min then another 20 min. to get someone to ask what we'd like to order. Very crowded little space between tables
The best sushi in Sarasota!!
Nice atmosphere and great selection! The food was delicious and the service was good. If you are vegetarian, there will be a lot of great options for you on this menu!
Avoid this place. We had reservations for 7:15 and we were told to come at 8:00. The food arrived at 9:15. This place is completely gridlocked and they can not serve guests. Food arrived cold and portions are tiny. There are so many good places around, you should avoid
Had a reservation and arrived right on time and had to wait 15 minutes before someone greeted me. After being seated, waited another 15 for a server and quickly ordered drinks, soup and our meal. The drinks and soup came out 10 minutes later but after 1:10 minutes still no meal. We were one of many tables waiting for food and left cash on the table and left. Terrible place and don't waste your time or money.
The sushi rolls were incredible and the other entrees we ordered were equally as good. Service was excellent. We had a very enjoyable experience.
Always great here, such an eclectic dining room, and tasty thai dishes.
What a fun place! It was our first time at this great restaurant. We loved the delicious pad thai with shrimp and the seafood special. The selection was great and the host made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We had a great evening and will definitely be back soon!
Food was great.. wait with reservation was 15 mins. Took another 15 mins for drink order. If you can be patient the Sushi was spectacular. The rest was ehhh
Don't waste your money and worst service ever. Dirty also, they don't even clean the ipad menus. Just awful
Good food but a bit pricey
We made an online reservation and arrived ontime. The management and staff were overwhelmed with approx. 60 capacity. The manager/hostess seated us and then we waited for over 25 minutes with no one greeting us. We watched two other tables seated by the hostess after us and they were greeted right away. I am not sure what happened but this entire situation was horrible. Especially when you are hungry while watching others be served. The main focus seemed to take every staffers attention was the 'Wine Tour" large group. My suggestion to management is that if you plan on having a large party come in then have to staff to handle such. Very disappointed. I really wanted to try the curry being that we just moved back to town. We will not try again.
Great place to eat! Cool vibe in the restaurant.
Great food! Chang is an awesome server. Will be back soon.
Drunken Poet is one of the best restaurants in Sarasota. It never fails to serve a great meal.
Nice atmosphere. Delicious food.
All was wonderful except an unexpected dripping ac vent. Quickly moved, food and service was great.
I loved going here! The food was very good, even if a little pricey. It was perfect for my "treat yo-self" day with the girls.
We were there on a busy Friday night, with Colin as our server. Prices are average - above average. Sushi was good, masaman curry was fantastic, chicken satay also very good. Wine list is decent and prices there are good. Would def recommend this place, only wish we lived closer.
Food was excellent. Service was terrific and their suggestions were spit on. Wonderful evening
Sushi had a funny taste, reported and was told sorry but nothing offered for the roll that wasn’t eaten, also charge 2.00 for ponzu sauce a very small amount, wasn’t informed just billed. They did remove this charge once we complained again. Don’t waste your time.
