A bit noisy interior staff was friendly and attentive! food was good.
Good atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was very rich, could improve selection to offer a wider variety of foods.
Nice place with excellent staff. Appetizers and drinks were great. Unfortunately, 2 of the 3 entrees were less than quality and were sent back. Replacement orders were taken and served quickly and were great. There was no hesitation by the staff to handle the issues and to their credit all was done with a smile and they constantly checked back, expressed concern and apologized. Things happen and we understand that. We will go back without a doubt.
This was a selection we made for my birthday dinner and we had never visited before. We are very familiar with Lafayette Village, however. When we came in to check on our reservations it was very noisy, especially for a Sunday evening, so we chose to eat outside. It was a great choice as the evening was cool and the patio was very private. I had the Goat cheese lasagna, with crawfish, wife had the pork short ribs. Both meals were excellent and provided a lunch snack two days later from the to-go box. Good choice, we'll return.
We have always enjoyed Driftwood in the past, but this time was really disappointing. I don't know if something has changed in management or the kitchen, but we were very taken aback when we received our meals. I ordered the salmon entree, which has always been good, but this time, the portion was half of what one would expect. It was tasty, but seemed a lunch portion rather than dinner. My wife ordered the Roasted Squash and Farro, and it was mostly Farro but very little squash, very little mushroom (like 2 or 3 in the whole thing) or arugala. Driftwood has always been one of our favorites, but I don't think we will be back after this disappointing experience.
I wasn't very impressed with their brunch. A very limited selection, desserts consisted of a plate of snickerdoodles and small cannoli that probably were purchased in bulk. I had to ask for my coffee to be refilled, though they were not busy. Not planning to return. One good point - their cheesy breakfast potatoes were delicious.
Great food, great experience, great ambiance. Highly recommend!
Very underwhelmed by this place. I've been here once before, several years ago, and I remember it being good, but on my most recent visit it was pretty poor and very disappointing. Atmosphere is the best thing about Driftwood Southern Kitchen; love the decor and style of the place. Drinks were okay... although I was brought the wrong cocktail, and the beer selection was just OK. The food was not good. The quality of the mac and cheese was as if it was from a frozen container and was microwaved prior to being served, it did not seem homemade, was runny, gritty, and not freshly baked. Two members of my party had the BBQ (one had pork, one had brisket), both were terrible. Nowhere near the "slow cooked" southern quality BBQ you would expect from a place like this. I've had better BBQ from food trucks and fast food-like establishments. The quality of the food comes nowhere near the price charged for the food. I am happy to spend money while out to eat for a nice dinner, but I expect the food to be good. I would not recommend this restaurant and I will not be back.
We’ve dined at Driftwood many times and have found the experience to be inconsistent. Sometimes food and service are excellent and other times, not inspiring. We took friends here for the first time and our server seemed stressed and short on patience which didn’t create the experience we were hoping for. Catfish was excellent, though.
Great neighborhood option! We went for a late supper and ended up eating several small plates and having drinks - and it was perfect, just what we wanted. The food was very good and each small plate was enough to share with 3 people. Particularly enjoyed the brussel sprouts and watermelon gazpacho! We will be back for another taste soon.
My wife and I sat at a high-top in the bar. It was a holiday weekend and it was not busy.
I ordered the brisket and she ordered a salad. My brisket was tough and room temperature and her salad didn’t come out as ordered. We didn’t send it back, but we won’t be returning. We have given them several chances and they do well about half the time. It’s disappointing because we are BBQ fans and live very close. They obviously have a management issue. It’s difficult to give someone your business when they are so inconsistent.
Great service. Loved our waitress, perfect amount of knowledge and sass.
Food was really good, minor complaints but it’s because of me not them.
My date enjoyed his food, traditional southern meatloaf.
Drinks were really well made and 1/2 off on Monday’s :)
I'm sure it's abnormal as a decent amount of friends love the place, but our entrees were cold. The establishment wasn't busy so we weren't really sure what the issue was. They refired the food or put it back in the oven for a bit which made the food temperature situation better, but it wasn't the same as having hot, fresh food.
We will probably not revisit.
It was ok. Service left a little to be desired, brunch wasn’t anything special.
I've been here several times, tonight however was disappointing. The food was just above room temp, and was somewhat bland. This was unusual for this restaurant. I hope this doesn't continue.
Excellent selection and service! My family loved this restaurant
Driftwood is in a great location, but a little informal for a mothers day treat. It was also probably the loudest restaurant I've been to in a long while.
They were too busy for brunch and couldn't keep up with the buffet. It was too expensive for what they had out but our server was phenomenal. Very friendly.
We had reservations and we still had to wait. They forgot about us and we’re giving walk-ins tables. Prime rib was over cooked and dry, and had to ask a waitress for water after we were seated.
Unfortunately we spent Mother’s Day here for brunch buffet and were underwhelmed. Food was mediocre, service was ok. No one wished us happy mother’s day and for $10 more per person, we could have gone elsewhere and had a much better meal. Lack of vegetarian options and only 2-3 desserts. Felt rushed by waitress dropping check way before appropriate.
Atmosphere and location are great. We had the fried chicken and it was amazing!!
Made reservations from NJ to have graduation dinner when we drove down. Didn't know what to expect. The french themed architecture was a fun surprise. The food was excellent. Drinks were too. Waitress was great. All her recommendations were home runs. I would definitely return next time I am in Raleigh.
Great food and service!
Had a very enjoyable evening with my book club. Everything was perfect!
Fabulous food! Our server, Diane, was knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great suggestions. We all thought we had the best thing on the menu. From the appetizers and dinner everything was perfect! What a great night!
The lamb burger was maybe the best burger I’ve ever had! Great weekend date night spot
Great food and great service!
What a terrible Easter brunch! First they told me I’d have to wait an hour beyond my reservation time to get an actual table. Then the buffet was a disaster - like a cyclone had hit. Finally by the time we were ready for dessert they’d run out. Obviously not capable of managing a full restaurants and reservations.
1. Why is it when u make a reservation, it's more like a call ahead? Still had to wait when we arrived.
2. The host said he would text me when the table was ready, but I finally had to check in with him again to be seated.
3. The Easter buffet was average and not that many selections.
4. Extremely noisy.
Great place for Sunday brunch with the family. Has a lot of lunch and breakfast options. I recommend the French toast!
Went for Easter brunch. Had reservations. Ended up waiting over 30 minutes beyond my reservation. Poor management for a holiday
The Bruch was good. I would like to suggest having an omelette station and a waffle station.
I had heard great things about this restaurant and thought Easter brunch would be a great time to try it, especially since it kept popping up as a great place in Raleigh for brunch. Not so much. Food was not good at all. Service was very good and friendly. Maybe better for dinner? I dunno. Won't be rushing back. Disappointing to all in our party.
We typically go here for brunch every few months and really enjoy it. We went for Easter brunch and the food was just the same as always, nothing much more than usual but they charged $30 a person. We didn’t feel that it was worth the extra $15 a person for the few extra things offered above their normal brunch. You are squeezed in very close to people and if they are loud (as our neighbors were!) you can barely hear your own convo. Would have liked it to have been a bit more special for Easter. Will definitely not be back for a holiday but most likely will for Norma brunch
The brunch was very good. The only thing I would change would be the price for kids. 10 and under for $14 is a lot, I would think if the kid is 3 and younger to do a modified price, like $10 instead.
I will be back!
Great food. Large portion sizes. Really enjoyed the honey chicken and especially he chocolate bourbon pecan pie. Will definitely go back again.
It was excellent
It was good atmosphere, service was good but all the food I received just seemed average. I was really looking forward to the wedge salad however the dressing didn’t really compliment it with the blue cheese pieces. Also when I think of wedge salad I think iceberg lettuce cut in a wedge. It was more like spinach salad. I got shrimp with it and the shrimp had no flavor just grilled it seemed. A little disappointed after hearing such good things. Service was great though.
The buffet included breakfast and lunch items and overall everything was good. The fried chicken was my favorite.
Amazing location to celebrate two birthdays. The food was excellent, our server was attentive as we needed, and the price for brunch was perfect.
