Drake Hotel Ratings and Reviews
I was in town for a show and staying at the Drake Hotel. When I checked what was available in the neighbourhood for dinner options I was pleasantly surprised to see this restaurant reviewed so highly so I made a reservation for dinner. Glad I did, I had a pork chop & it was delicious. Hope to return sometime soon!
I made this reservation weeks in advance for an annual holiday party that my friends and I have. I specifically requested not to be seated in the sky yard as I was worried it would be too cold in the middle of December. When we got there we were seated there anyway and told not to worry as it was warm up there. They sat us at a table by the window and wall facing outside. The draft was unbearable and we were all freezing and spent the whole dinner with our coats on and unable to feel our limbs. We asked to move and couldn’t because the restaurant was full. They let us move down one table (and we had to move everything ourselves) but it made no difference.
The food was underwhelming to say the least, especially at the price you pay. They also changed their menu and options are slim, especially if you’re a vegetarian or vegan.
The whole experience was awful. We couldn’t wait to pay our bill and go and warmup somewhere else. Even after expressing our discomfort to management, they did nothing for us. I don’t expect free things or comped meals but maybe some warm coffees/teas for the table, at the very least, would have been a nice gesture considering how cold and uncomfortable we were.
We went to the Drake Hotel for something a little different. We were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. We really enjoyed our time there. The Food was great, the ambiance was lively. I would say that it was very loud. Often I had a difficult time hearing my husband. But other than that it was really good and the service was wonderful!
We came in yesterday for my birthday lunch and got the meatballs and noodles (too sweet for our liking). My sister went to the server away from the table asked for desert with a sparkler for my birthday, and the server came back to confirm the order in front of me and ruined the surprise. For the majority of the meal she has disappeared but she managed to come check on us and said “two apple pies and one with a sparkler”. We found it pretty inconsiderate.
Food was great - service was okay. My friend set up a dessert to be brought out for my birthday and the server didn’t follow through. So that was disappointing after finding out. Server wasn’t very friendly and we were told when we arrived that we had to be out of our reserved table 2 hours after because of the band playing. This would have been nice to know at the time of the reservation so we could plan for it and not feel rushed.
Food and drink was excellent despite service.
We live in New York and went up to Toronto for dinner and then to the Julia Jacklin concert. Our server (Kinnon sp) was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Our food was fantastic and everyone around us seemed to be having a great time as well. It was just a perfect evening that my wife and I enjoyed. We would most definitely come back.
We went to the art strollers event and we’re pleased with the event, convenient stroller parking, availability of high chairs and baby purees. We will definitely come back. The only thing I recommend is 1 or 2 change tables for the babies as the venue would be perfect.
Went for Brunch to celebrate a birthday. The food was good but we sat in the back and it was very noisy. A little pricey - brunch for 4 was $175 + tip. Service was good. Recommend you get a seat up by the window or a booth when booking a reservation for brunch.
My friend and I had a splendid time. The wait staff was brilliant helping us with our various and many eating concerns. The chef put together a modified selection from the menu that satisfied both our vegan and allergy list that was delicious and definitely not run-of-the-mill. We were treated so well and had such a good time, we're definitely looking forward to our return.
This was our first visit to the Drake. The waiter was amazing, woman who brought us to the table was very friendly and when I mentioned that we were there to celebrate my daughters first solo show she told the waiter and they brought over a special desert for us. Really well done and the meal was perfect. My only observation is that the restaurant is really loud..we had two large parties near us and honestly I could barely hear what my husband and daughter were saying. We were practically yelling at each other for conversation. So perhaps Saturday night wasn't the best night for that and will try another time during the week. But overall - great fun decor - really fabulous place.
I had made a reservation for the Drake hotel for our anniversary lunch, which I have never actually done before because I did not think that weekdays around 1pm would be that busy (because it falls just after the lunch rush between 12-1). Unfortunately our table was not ready when we arrived and we were sat by the window in between 2 other tables filled with customers. We felt a little too close for comfort. We asked the hostess if we could sit at a booth near the back of the restaurant where the lighting was a bit more dim and we had a bit more privacy. The hostess said no because the booths were reserved for parties of 3 or more. It did not seem all that busy on that side of the restaurant so it was unfortunate that she could not make an exception for us. The most unfortunate part was that during our lunch we saw 3 parties of only 2 people sitting in booths. How they became exceptions to the rule, I do not know. Regardless, this put a bad taste in our mouths (although the food was actually very good, so koodos to the cook) with this restaurant. The server was okay, he did his job but that's about it, no recommendations, no attempt at engaging with clients.
We came for dinner on a Sunday night after going to Lower Ossington Theatre. Very quiet at 7 pm. Great server. Great food notably the coconut shrimp maki, the lime dusted edamame and the fries with butter and pecorino cheese. There were 4 of us so we ordered a variety of things from the spicy tuna maki to the kung pao chicken to the trout. All excellent.
My husband and I had a blast here on a Saturday night after attending TIFF. Our waitress was the sweetest girl on earth, dinner was awesome and the rooftop patio afterwards was the place to be. Will definitely checking this out again for dinnner and the evening, maybe with a group of friends next time!
Fabulous spot! Went there on Sat night and the service and food were terrific! We have only had positive experiences at this restaurant and I would highly recommend it. Fun ambiance and a nice menu to choose from. Lots of choices from sushi to steak. My favourite dish is the Kung Pao chicken. I already look forward to my next visit.
The ambiance was great and the food was surprisingly good. I had the spicy shrimp toast and the Drake burger with fancy fries. I wouldn't get the fancy fries again though. Overall it was a great experience. The service was excellent and the menu was creative.
