Drake Devonshire Inn Ratings and Reviews
All 4 of us loved our breakfast! Our server answered all of questions, made recommendations, offered side dishes we loved, and arranged for a tour of the property after our meal! The dining room has spectacular views of the lake. We had trouble picking “the best” table since so many of them had great lake views.
Definitely a buzzing atmosphere. If you are looking for romance, however, try going during off dining hours, when it's quieter! If you're looking for creative, heart healthy meals, there's not much on the menu, but if you're in the mood to let loose and just enjoy the tasty dishes, then this is the place. Beautiful lakeside views, great food, friendly, upbeat service.
Went here for my birthday with 4 other people and made a reservation a month in advance. Service was great - our server was incredibly accommodating. Beautiful, fun space and tasty food. They let you walk around and play games while you wait for dinner. I would highly recommend!
The Inn's restaurant is out of the ordinary spot for dining and drinks. The decor is beautiful, authentic and modern. The view by the water is amazing. The service is relaxed and friendly. The food is great, with interesting twists and high quality ingredients. We stopped at the restaurant on our way from Toronto to Montreal and it was well worth the detour.
Your kitchen is out of touch with the staff and clients, and its food.
- eggs benny single took 30 mins to arrive
- poached egg overdone and firm
- bacon stringy; barely warm
- toasted slice soggy.
- hollandaise sauce invisible
-hash browns underdone andjust warm
Coffee not hot and unattended
" Sugar pie' also took 20 mins to arrive; best described as quite tasteless ; not even sweet and unlike any Ive ever had before.
One prev occ the on se level was so high my wife and I could b= not carry on a c onversation.
Great potential but the kitchen needs supervision.
We booked for pre-Christmas Family together dinner. It was not busy, the waiters were excellent, the food was good & the ambiance was kid-friendly. Beer was good, as was the wine. The wine was over-priced! Overall an expensive dinner but a pleasant experience.
We went to the Drake Devonshire because they offered an exciting painting night event and planned our whole mini-trip around it. We had an incredibly delicious dinner, had a chance to play in the games room, but them we were disappointed that the artist who was supposed to run the art night just didn't show (apparently we were the only 2 people who registered). Despite this, staff were incredibly gracious and responsive and covered our drinks for the night, tried repeatedly to call the artist and generally made our night a good one despite our disappointment that the art-night didn't happen. We were very pleased with the excellent care that they showed in response to this unfortunate situation!
We enjoyed brunch (table for 4), recently at the Drake. The staff and attention we received was exceptional. The coffee was excellent. It has a wonderful waterfront location and the meal was sourced locally and delicious. A very enjoyable stop on our wine tour in PEC.
I have been to the Drake Devonshire several times over the years and he experience had always been pleasant but feels increasingly disconnected with PEC and out of date.
I think it’s time the owners reimagined what they are doing. They feel more like an out of synch imposition of Toronto into the county than a celebration of what the region has to offer. Food was good but neither great nor reflective of PEC. Try a little harder to connect to the place and to the diners.
The view of the lake from our table was excellent but with a table above us we felt uncomfortable.
We went for lunch but you only offered breakfast. We ordered eggs Benedict, the menu said ham but we got bacon. It repeated on my wife for the rest of the day.
The music was brash and loud making it unpleasant and difficult to hold a leisurely and comfortable conversation.
This was our first time at the Drake Devonshire and everyone in our party was very impressed. The food was outstanding, most notably from the items we ordered, the corn breaded beets and the rabbit carbonara were exceptional.
The service was fantastic; our server was very attentive, accommodating, and knowledgeable. A very full, relaxing, and satisfying dining experience.
Prices were a little high, but nowhere out of the realm of expectation for a fine dining experience.
Unbelievable experience. Outstanding service. We enjoyed the Countlylicious menu that was available that evening. They were so accommodating to my party's dietary restrictions - I've never experienced anything like it. Wonderful wine suggestions. Enjoyed a little warm up by the outdoor bonfire after our dinner. With the sound of the waves crashing against the shore - to was a lovely end to our evening at the Drake Devonshire.
My fiance and I were visiting Prince Edward County for the first time this past weekend and started our trip with brunch at Drake Devonshire. First off, amazing views and the coolest decor. The lobby lounge is super cozy with a fireplace and there's a retro photobooth so I mean, enough said. The restaurant is such a cool place and has a great atmosphere. All the servers are really nice and personable and the service was really great. Most importantly, the food was delicous! I got the breakfast hash and the meat just melted in my mouth. My fiance got the breakfast burger and he literally said "I think this is the best burger I've ever had." What a great spot and I definitely plan on going back the next time I visit PEC. :)
Romantic dinner for 2 - my husband and I came here on a Friday night. Our server was very knowledgable of the menu. The mussels and sourdough bread were incredible! We are from downtown Toronto and this restaurant definitely met our expectations for a trendy spot!
I have been to the Drake in Toronto several times, and the menu at the Devonshire is reminiscent of the one in the city, but of course with some different items and a wine list more influenced by the local wines of Prince Edward County. Service is great, the room is cozy, funky, and has lots of natural light and a view of lake Ontario. Truly one of the best, if not the best place to eat while visiting the county and they do a great brunch. Try the chicken and waffles!
We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and made that clear on the reservation. We also requested a table by the window, or at least at a wall. We were placed in the center of the restaurant at the bottom of the steps leading up to the tables with window views. The lit up stairs glared in our faces, both servers and customers bumped into my back numerous times. We asked to be moved, the waiter was very kind and patient, but apparently there was no where else to seat us, so we left. Thank goodness we were able to be accommodated back in picton where we were staying at the County Canteen was able to accommodate us. I understand it’s a popular place, but when I make reservation and you ask if there are special requests it would be considerate to let me know that you won’t be able to accommodate them. Very disappointing, we won’t be back.
I have never been to such an overrated restaurant. Food was good but by no means great, and at the cost should have been much more delicious. Our server had an attitude was very bizarre. He responded really strangely to allergies and instead of telling us that the restaurant couldn’t guarantee no contamination (reasonable) he assured me that fish WILL be in all dishes at Drake, which is probably not true but certainly disgusting if it is. For such a high class restaurant the server made our experience really uncomfortable every time he showed up and the food was good but not great.
The food quality from the city in a beautiful country setting, definitely the best of both worlds! The food, service and view were all fantastic!
We had such a good experience at dinner, we went back for brunch the following day (unfortunately we weren't guests of the hotel)
Had to ask for drinks to be delivered, Wet Dripping Glass for bottled drink delivered, wine on list not in stock after waiting, food luke warm, in-experienced table service, follow up checks for food experience never happened, little to no co-ordination for service, bill was brought twice to table. 2 x burgers and 1 drink each not worth the $79.00
We ate at the Drake 2 times this last weekend. Dinner Saturday night my wife and myself and Sunday Brunch with our children and grandchildren. The restaurant has a positive vibe and makes the dining experience very enjoyable. The food for both meals was outstanding. The menu had a number of choices and allowed us to try things you don't see in most restaurant. The staff were very attentive to our needs and knew how to serve a large group with 4 children with ease. We will make this restaurant a regular stop. We look forward to eating outside in the summer.
The Drake is such a spectacular place with an awesome view of the lake. Our server(s) we're attentive and lovely. Our meal came out a little too fast and we were done our appies but other than the quick timing, everything else was great. Will definitely go back !
