About Dragonfly - Robata Grill & Sushi
Dragonfly Robata Grill & Sushi offers authentic Japanese gastropub cuisine with a modern twist, featuring a variety of grilled items and specialty sushi rolls. Each item is prepared utilizing traditional robata grilling techniques and fresh ingredients for an assortment of uniquely composed dishes. Dragonfly Robata Grill & Sushi is among few in the nation to bring authentic robata grilling to Orlando, which uses special white coals called binchō-tan that heat up to 1,000 degrees Celsius and burn cleanly without smoke. The high level of heat fully cooks proteins and vegetables and captures their natural flavors. Dragonfly Robata Grill & Sushi is ideal for many occasions, offering an elegant, yet comfortable ambiance. Plus, private dining, a chic Chef’s Table, a lakeside patio, a sushi bar, a VIP room and more are available. Each detail of our modern restaurant has been thoughtfully considered for the ultimate dining experience.

Dragonfly - Robata Grill & Sushi Ratings and Reviews
Went for Valentine's Day dinner. The food was incredible. Service was fast, friendly, and all the staff was very knowledgeable about the menu. They even had someone coming around to take photos of couples there celebrating. Fantastic experience! The restaurant itself has a very composed feel and the music playing was very western. It makes the ambiance more generic American than Japanese. Maybe fusion? In any case, it didn't feel genuine hence the one less star there.
This place is crazy good. I ate so much it hurt. I tried some sea bass, fatty tuna, a bunch of great rolls full of random goodness, brussels sprouts with dried fish flakes, squid two ways, bok choy salad, corn, chicken and kobe cooked over some very special charcoal, big eye tuna, scorpion fish, and creme brûlée. Washed it down with some signature cocktails. Just before closing the chef sent out an executive roll as a special treat. It was probably the last thing left in the kitchen after I had my way with it..... This was my second visit. The first was just as good.
My group has dined here once or twice a year for the past several years and we were somewhat disappointed this time. There menu has been redone and unfortunately it appears they've tried to 'americanize' it with fewer authentic Japanese offerings, which is what drew us to the restaurant or finally.
Came here for the first (and last) time for ny father’s birthday in late January. Getting in is a pain since we valeted and walked through a courtyard to get there. May have been better if the weather wasn’t so cold out (for Florida!). Hostess was detached and didn’t seem to want to be there so fine. We had a reservation but no table was set up prior to our arrival so we had to wait. Seated and waiter came by to take drink orders and disappeared. Finally ordered our meals and sushi was alright. We expected more from this establishment from all the hype but the higher prices justify their location and decor but not so much their food. We’ve had better sushi in hole in the walls in Orlando than here. They did bring a special birthday dessert for my dad at the end so that was much appreciated but for the money, go to Slate nearby or ditch it all for Bartaco.
Food was great and different. Loved the different flavors. Disappointed in service. I asked 3 people to send waiter to us for drinks and it wasn't until we were done with our meal that he finally came by and we had to ask for more drinks. Very loud, we had to yell to speak to each other. Very impressed that the owner came by several times to talk to us. We would go again, however.
The last time I was in Orlando I asked locals where they go for sushi and every one said Dragonfly. It has terrific sushi for the novice - volcano roll, spider roll, etc - but for sushi freaks like me their selection was fantastic: very authentic Japanese preparations along with very creative flair. If I'd had more time I would have loved trying the chef's sushi tasting menu. Our waiter, Tung, was perfect, too: total knowledge of the menu and just enough attentiveness. I can't speak more highly of Dragonfly and will definitely be back every time I'm in Orlando.
Service was very slow and several items were billed but never arrived to our table. Although when asked the items were removed no comp was offered given the issues. Mandatory 18% gratuity charged for party of 9 even though service was sub standard.
We have been vacationing in Orlando before and enjoyed Dragonfly but not this time.
My husband and I drive down from Jacksonville, FL as often as possible and book a hotel JUST to eat at this restaurant! It is our favorite, and we even bring our children sometimes too.
They have great sushi rolls, and the BEST pork and braised rib ramen we’ve ever had. Please stop by and check this place out. You will not be disappointed!
We had a great experience at DragonFly this past weekend. The food was great (we ordered sushi), and the server was attentive and knowledgeable. The only misstep was the on the appetizer we ordered. We thought we were ordering a simple fish tapas dish, but what came out was a small fish that still had the head, scales, and was not cut open at all. If the server had described it, we would have likely passed. When it came out, the server could tell we were a bit taken aback, but he went out of his way to make sure we were happy. Also, it was a well prepared dish, just not our speed. Overall, though, I would not hesitate to recommend DragonFly.
Best Omakase meal ever at Dragonfly.
We came twice in a week and this time with friends. We had the real "Omakase" meal, where the chef brings to you dishes until you want no more. Absolutely fabulous... Only 2 dishes (out of 7) were the same as the previous meal, and we gladly ate them again...
We love this place and go there at least once each time we visit Orlando
