Dragonfly at Hotel ZaZa Ratings and Reviews
Photos of the dining area are deceiving. The dining area was small and next to the bar which forced patrons at the bar to spill out into the dining area. Meaning there were groups of people standing right next to the table you are trying to have a nice dinner at. The area was too loud to have a conversation without stretching the vocal cords. Other than that service and food were great. Wouldn't recommend to a friend . Just go down the street to Capitol Grille for a better experience.
My wife and I had dinner at Dragonfly this weekend as part of a downtown Dallas weekend stay. First time for us to try this restaurant. Everything about the meal was fantastic. We showed up about 10 minutes early for our reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant has two sections - the front area that is open to the bar area (lively and packed) and a back area that is partially closed off. Our table was in the back area, which was very quiet - easy to talk. I had a Templeton Rye Manhattan and my wife ordered the Cool as a Cucumber. Both drinks were well mixed and balanced. Wine list is extensive, but we stuck with cocktails. We had the wedge and Texas mixed greens salads and then the 48 hour short ribs and the day's 5 oz filet special. All of it was fantastic, including the sides. My wife orders her steaks medium (doesn't like red, but still wants some pink) - it was cooked perfectly, which doesn't happen all that often. The ribs are served off the bone, most likely because they are so tender that the meat falls off the bone during prep. I cut mine with a fork - no knife required. Locally sourced ingredients result in very fresh taste. Add to all of that a waitstaff that was attentive, not overbearing, and a lot of fun. Overall, the entire night was terrific. We'll be back for sure.
Such a fun weekend for me to plan my uncle’s surprise birthday! Everything was wonderful. Only thing was I called and spoke with the concierge and told him since I was flying into town I had a delivery service delivering a cake, cheese and meats, wine and vodka. I asked it he could sign for it and out in our room and he said no problem. I even called back and asked the desk about showing an ID for the alcohol delivery. Not once did anyone mention they don’t allow outside food or drink in the room. Not until checkin when my uncle is now with me and I’m trying to surprise him. The manager tells me they did allow my food and 2 bottles of wine but not the Tito’s vodka. That’s all my uncle drinks so I ask if they can get me a bottle and put in the room super fast. He said no problem. I expect a massive upcharge from what I paid but seriously???? $450???? I couldn’t even dispute it because my uncle was there when they handed me the ticket. I will never again!!! They gave me my Tito’s and 2 bottles upon checkout that I couldn’t take bc we were flying with only carryon so thanks for that!
Fantastic presentation. Ask for the separate dining room if you want quiet conversation as the bar dining area is fun but very loud. Food was fresh and plentiful minhada the scallops and friend had tortellini. Wine list was good and reasonable.
Will definitely visit again when I’m in town
Picking Dragonfly for NYE was THE best decision my friend and I made. The ambiance was great and the vegetarian tortellini dish was AMAZING!! Our waiter was Chris and he provided Stellar service the entire evening. I would most definitely dine here again as well as recommend to friends.
My husband and I were so impressed with everything, especially for a busy NYE event. The staff worked together like a well oiled machine. Managers, wait staff and security were amazing - spot on! Their work was definitely cut out for them dealing with the complexity of a NYE crowd. The food was amazing too! Thank you for making it such a fun night. I'm glad I decided weather the cold to spend my night at Dragonfly/ZaZa. You all ROCK!
My boyfriend and I are here for New Years. Food was NOT good. We had the lamb lollipops as an appetizer and they were so tough you could barely get the meat off the bone. We also got the pork belly, the meat was better but it was so lathered in peanuts and a thick sweat sauce that it completely lost its flavor. By the time my entree, Duck, came out I had completely lost my appetite. It was also lathered in a nauseating sweet sauce and I could barely eat it. My boyfriend got the steak off of the specials menu, I’m not sure how you mess up a steak but round of applause because Dragonfly managed it. Would also like to mention that when we arrived we were placed at a tiny table that looked like it had been set up to handle overflow. The chairs were so rickety that they swayed at the slightest movement and the table was not in much better shape!
Value was definitely not worth the price for this meal. It seems the Dragonfly thinks they can get away with not serving quality food and simply living off the novelty of the venue. Thank God we bought a nice bottle of wine that helped us make it through the meal. Would not eat here again, nothing worse than paying $300 for a meal you regret eating.
Every year, around the OU/Texas football game, my family and close friends rely on me to pick a new/different place to gather for a great dinner. The Dragonfly came through in every category. The food was fabulous and the service was just right. Our server, Chris, was entertaining and there to meet our needs at the perfect time without hovering. The wine list made our choice in bottles difficult as they are all exceptionally tasty and enjoyable. We managed to find enough room to share desserts for the perfect finish to a delightful evening. Thank you!
We had so much fun we came back for a second mean. Service and food was five star! Great breakfast as well. Eat behind the dining doors for a more quiet mean or in the bar area for a fun lively mean. Atmosphere in both areas is fantastic
Even though the dishes are overpriced, I figured it was worth it for the environment. When the food came out, we were extremely disappointed. The seafood had a funky texture and reeked of fishiness, meaning it was not fresh, and the pasta was really bland and extremely oily. The positive is the management staff went out of their way to make up for the disappointing food. I don't mean to bash this place since management took great care of us, but the food really put a damper on my evening.
