Great meal, and great service. Not much more can be asked for. Thanks DTK&C!
Have visited Downtown Kitchen many times since they opened and have always enjoyed every aspect of each experience. This visit was the exception. Even though the food was as excellent as ever, we all agreed that the service was poor. Even though we told our waiter that we were going to want to order a bottle of wine with our main course, he never returned to ask our wine choice. We were never visited by him again until after we had finished our meals (served by others). This was not a busy time as the dining room was only 1/3 full and the service staff was everywhere. It just seemed to us that we were an order to be filled and nothing else. I even tried to get out waiters attention when he walked by but he didn't even look at us. Since I have always recommended Downtown and had brought three friends in for their first Downtown experience, I was quite disappointed by the lack of service on this visit. Do better, Downtown Kitchen.
Love this place, and the menu will never get old because they are always changing it and adding new dishes
Downtown Kitchen and Cocktails is one of my wife and I favorite places to eat. The food is always good, service is great and the atmosphere is is eclectic. Chef and owner Janos changes the menu frequently, so it's never the same thing twice. We generally have some cocktails, appetizer, entree and dessert without spending too much. Great place for a group or a couple.
As usual DTK rocks! One of our favorite restaurants in Tucson. I had Ciopinno and my husband had something with tofu called MaPo (can't remember the rest). However, reservations at 6:00 found the DTK out of the Sunday fried chicken special. Must remember to request them to save me some--that's what I went for.
The waiter tried to push us into ordering different (and more expensive) meals saying there were complaints about what we tried to order. The pork wrapped in pork belly was severely undercooked and almost nauseating. The shrimp and grits appetiser was good but $13 for 3 shrimp was a bit pricey. On a good note, the cocktails were fabulous.
The food is always tasty, trendy, and prepared perfectly. A great place to eat when downtown and the patio option is special. The wine list is small but creative. One of our favorites.
App, salad and dessert delicious. Entrees were ok. Menu is too eclectic for our tastes. Like the room but would prefer something quieter. Staff was great.
Nice romantic valentines dinner.
Good food pairings with imaginative food selections.
We were trying to book for Valentine’s Day and tried too late so we booked the night before! Just a couple dozen people in the whole restaurant!! Good idea... may become the new tradition. The presentation is over the top... like squeeze bottles for every sauce in the back of the house... I’m sure that looks pretty cool to most diners. I wish they’d explain the chicken breast to guests... it’s a retro called an airline breast! It presents nicely!!
Always great food and service.
Odd spot. Jetson mid century plastic/vinyl furniture in Southwestern setting with a metro-esque clientele. Sorta pretentious menu. But the food was well prepared, the servers attentive, and the ambiance very calming.
Best food we have had in Tucson. Definitely has a southwestern flare to the palate. Desert was exceptional!
Wonderful! Knowledgeable server, was brilliant!
Memorable food in a fun, modern setting. Great outdoor seating.
WWe always have an interesting an delicious meal at Downtown Kitchen. Janos is very creative with his choices of meals.
Food was exceptional!! The service was great and the staff were very nice and attentive!!
Janos’ fine restaurant continues to impress. His menu stays fresh while keeping reliable favorites (like the calamari) always available. His chicken stuffed with a habanero infused mixture is not hot interestingly, but is flavorful. The Ma Po Tofu with ground pork, crawfish tails, some Szechuan heat is delicious (both right then and the next days—the portion is generous). Service is prompt and although the bar is busy, the sound level was comfortable. There’s also outdoor dining on the street terrace, a plus in Tucson where the weather is obliging most of the year. Still a great chef.
Excellent food and service
When the owner, Janos, comes around to each table and engages with you, he knows how to run a restaurant. Why? He really cares about his customers!!!! Local ownership and control. What else could one want? Nothing!
