DOWNTOWN Kitchen + Cocktails
Downtown Kitchen never disappoints! The service and food are always exceptional.
Great experience and a worthwhile Mother's Day brunch experience. Great idea to have a buffet style so the kids and quickly grab some pancakes and go. Also the unlimited mimosas was definitely worth the price.
Unfortunately, 2 or the 3 salads had goat cheese in them which I love, but my daughter despises. And the server said it was feta, but not to my taste buds. Otherwise food was very good, ambience appropriate and servers attentive.
The Food was very tasty and well prepared. We had quite an enjoyable time.
Excellent food, drinks and service! Will definitely go back!
Small, but tasty portions. Good drinks too! Very good quality of food.
The food was top-notch and the place has a nice vibe inside, but they should probably drop the "+cocktails" from their name. Their cocktail game is pedestrian at best.
For those who like to have flavors you never tried before this place takes a Midwest spin on traditional dishes. Cocktails were spot on! We had a mango dessert with a frozen crust that was too hard to cut. The owner himself brought out a new one in 5 minutes with the dessert perfect. The bread pudding and sundae were amazing!
Everything was great except for my salmon. It arrived extremely undercooked. I sent it back and when it returned it was covered in hollandaise sauce which made it way too rich for me to enjoy. I ended up with a terrible stomachache.
We had a great experience at this local gem! The drink and dinner menus are creative and inspiring. And the everything was beautifully prepared and presented. The restaurant's open layout is comfy, cozy and modern simultaneously. Would definitely recommend.
Second visit. Just as good as the first. Will return every time we are in Tucson.
We were an hour early for our reservation and were seated immediately. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was excellent particularly the chocolate dessert with hot peppers. It was a very pleasant evening.
Wait staff was very attentive and helpful in choosing our meal.
The food was prepared beautifully and was as delicious as it looked. We split our salad and main courses and it was delivered as if we each had our own little tasting meal. Our waitress was tops. We will return!
Had a business guest making her first trip to Tucson. Downtown Kitchen provided a quality meal in a downtown location that contributed to her favorable impression of the city.
Happy with my choice of food. Good service. Ambience was okay.
I had dinner there with my three girl friends for our monthly dinner out after meeting at Meynard's and going for a walk in the downtown area. We all had such a fabulous meal, the salmon was cooked perfectly and there were so many flavors to enjoy on our plates. We all used bread at the end of our meal as to not miss one tasty morsel, all four of us wiped our plates clean. The same is true of the two desserts we picked the Chocolate Jalapeno ice cream and the blueberry lemon mascarpone. We totally enjoyed every minute and every bite! We all said that we would be back as we were leaving.
I wanted to try it with my wife since I remembered Janos W. from years ago, when I lived in Tucson. The main kudos I would like to suggest, first and foremost, is that he is a skilled wordsmith at putting together a menu. His description of a simple piece of duck leg quarter is amazing, surrounded with whatever little pieces of fruit are laying about the kitchen. If it had been a fresh piece of duck that I was served, I would have sent out the clarion call, but alas, it tasted like it was previously frozen, and procured from a wild game purveyor. I'd have to say a stop at Church's chicken would have truly satisfied my lust for the taste of fowl. Moving on, I noticed that salpicon was listed on the menu and I just had to have some. Recollections from my youth eating the tongue version, made by an old school neighborhood mexican woman, aroused a Pavlovian expectation. I can actually admit to a minor bout of depression when I had my first bite. At best, it appeared and tasted to be a form of industrial cole slaw that was kicked up a notch with vinegar and lime
juice. That is a bit harsh I know, but I left with a feeling of lowered expectations. On the flip side of the my personal opinions, I will say that the restaurant is a plus for Tucson that and everyone should give it a shot. Since my wife shared my basic opinion, veni vidi vici, we will be moving on to the next eatery. Ambiance, service staff, and dining experience, are all exceptional. Prices are designed for the discriminating taste, but not unfair for the quality of the overall dining event. My favorite takeaway was standing out front and conjuring up images of the original fire house that was directly across the street.
What a great evening, whether you are celebrating a special occasion or just a casual dinner with good friends, Downtown Kitchen is a great place to go. The food is clean, flavorful, and fresh, and the chef has adds interesting and unique twists to classic dishes inspired by the local southwest flora and flavors. Everything we had was delicious starting with cocktails and the Salmon Belly & Hamachi Aguachile appetizer. We shared the Rib-Eye and Duck entrees and would have them again. For dessert we shared the Dark Chocolate Jalapeño Ice Cream Sundae, the perfect end to a wonderful dinner. Looking forward to our next visit to Tucson and Downtown Kitchen.
Fantastic food! Unique blend of flavors
Great as always!
Went for Easter Brunch. Menu needed to be more balanced for family event with picky eaters.
Average brunch. Most of the “hot” foods were lukewarm. Less than enthusiastic service.
Great atmosphere, unique and different menue
Food was amazing, two days later and we are still talking about the experience. Wish we were in town for a few more days because we would go back. Alex was our server and gets a 10+.
While the room is pleasant and has an energetic vibe, and the service is quite competent, the food sadly doesn't match up. Although the bread and desserts were excellent, the entrees and appetizers were average to poor. A friend recommended the calamari, but the pieces were small and tough, the portion modest, the green chili vinaigrette an odd match, and the addition of peanuts was strange and added little. The entrees were worse - the stuffed chicken was tough and the sausage stuffing was bland and dry. It sure sounded good on the menu though. The duck was a small portion with nothing additional to recommend it. Disappointed.
A complete dinner. Every course was great. Excellent cocktails.
Visiting Tucson and had a lovely dinner
Love to try new restaurants. Had heard this place was great with an important local chef.
Food was really great but not server hot.
Server did not know menu and what was in plate. Hire pros!
Love the decor and layout upon arriving. Then the service and food were fab!! So happy we came this evening ☺️
This restaurant made me understand why we were awarded the UNESCO Gastronomy certification! Delicious drinks, dinner and dessert!
This is the best and most creative restaurant in all of the Southwest. If you are in Tucson you must dine here.
Food was excellent and service spot on. It’s nice to see the Chef on site working in his kitchen.
Great place for dinner before a Fox theater event. Parking in downtown is eazy and they even have a lot.
Interesting and tasty choices. Duch waz great combo sweet dish went well with duck. Other excellent choices.
Really special anniversary dinner! Everyone friendly and attentive. Great calamari appetizer with unique taste, all 4 meals excellent, loved the Jalapeno Chocolate Sundae.
Great location, fun ambiance, excellent food..sources locally, good wine list. Very polite and helpful staff (our server and greeter were extaordinary-helping us reach Uber) and the table assistant was prompt and courteous. Highly recommend Downtown Kitchen!
We ate there around 8pm on a Tuesday night, so the restaurant was not crowded. The service was great, and the salmon was delicious! Nice ambiance too!
We had a great dinner and Madeline(I believe that was her name) our server was awesome!
Tasty food enjoyed by each member of our party. Nice table and attentive staff who celebrated our visit for a birthday in the party.
Food was spectacular, but portions on the smaller side.
