DOWNTOWN Kitchen + Cocktails
Great as always!
Went for Easter Brunch. Menu needed to be more balanced for family event with picky eaters.
Average brunch. Most of the “hot” foods were lukewarm. Less than enthusiastic service.
Great atmosphere, unique and different menue
Food was amazing, two days later and we are still talking about the experience. Wish we were in town for a few more days because we would go back. Alex was our server and gets a 10+.
While the room is pleasant and has an energetic vibe, and the service is quite competent, the food sadly doesn't match up. Although the bread and desserts were excellent, the entrees and appetizers were average to poor. A friend recommended the calamari, but the pieces were small and tough, the portion modest, the green chili vinaigrette an odd match, and the addition of peanuts was strange and added little. The entrees were worse - the stuffed chicken was tough and the sausage stuffing was bland and dry. It sure sounded good on the menu though. The duck was a small portion with nothing additional to recommend it. Disappointed.
A complete dinner. Every course was great. Excellent cocktails.
Visiting Tucson and had a lovely dinner
Love to try new restaurants. Had heard this place was great with an important local chef.
Food was really great but not server hot.
Server did not know menu and what was in plate. Hire pros!
Love the decor and layout upon arriving. Then the service and food were fab!! So happy we came this evening ☺️
This restaurant made me understand why we were awarded the UNESCO Gastronomy certification! Delicious drinks, dinner and dessert!
This is the best and most creative restaurant in all of the Southwest. If you are in Tucson you must dine here.
Food was excellent and service spot on. It’s nice to see the Chef on site working in his kitchen.
Great place for dinner before a Fox theater event. Parking in downtown is eazy and they even have a lot.
Interesting and tasty choices. Duch waz great combo sweet dish went well with duck. Other excellent choices.
Really special anniversary dinner! Everyone friendly and attentive. Great calamari appetizer with unique taste, all 4 meals excellent, loved the Jalapeno Chocolate Sundae.
Great location, fun ambiance, excellent food..sources locally, good wine list. Very polite and helpful staff (our server and greeter were extaordinary-helping us reach Uber) and the table assistant was prompt and courteous. Highly recommend Downtown Kitchen!
We ate there around 8pm on a Tuesday night, so the restaurant was not crowded. The service was great, and the salmon was delicious! Nice ambiance too!
We had a great dinner and Madeline(I believe that was her name) our server was awesome!
Tasty food enjoyed by each member of our party. Nice table and attentive staff who celebrated our visit for a birthday in the party.
Food was spectacular, but portions on the smaller side.
We always book a reservation here when we vacation in Tucson they never disappoint us !
Great food as always, creative options for all palettes and service was attentive enough to get us out the door to attend our event with time to spare... bravo
Thank you for the kind words. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you again-Janos
The lamb rigatoni was excellent. Salmon was very good as well.
We have been going to DK&C regularly since it opened because the food was usually very good. However, the menu items that we ordered on this visit (the chicken and the porchetta) were really disappointing. The chicken was a minute piece of meat (think chicken drummette) that was lost in a sea of polenta. The porchetta was tough, dry and not particularly flavorful. Please bring back the dishes that worked so well like the pork tenderloin and the beef cheeks. Also some additional salad selections would be good. Hoping this was a one-time fluke, but with so many good restaurants in downtown Tucson DK&C is going to have pay more attention to their menu and the food quality for us to return. On the positive side: The server was good and attentive and the bar knows what it's doing with the drinks.
I appreciate your comments. While we always strive to serve the best it's good to be reminded when we miss the mark. We take your points seriously and are always looking to up our game. I hope your previous experiences will bring you back again. I'm confident that when you do you will fine the same excellence that you have found here during your earlier meals. I very much appreciate your long time patronage and look forward to your next visit-Janos
Everything was great! Food was amazing and imaginative.
So glad you enjoyed yourselves!
Have frequented Downtown Kitchen. Have always been very satisfied. Not so much this time. The food was good but the service was very slow. Couldn't get a draft beer for reasons never explained. Couldn't order dessert because of time - had to leave to get to ATC in time for the play.
So sorry about the beer. The regulator on our taps broke that afternoon. All is in order now. Wish we'd had time to get you dessert. Thank you for letting us know-Janos
The variety of super fresh and creative food options were great. The cocktail menu was imaginative. We were a party of 9 and the service was polite and helpful although a bit slow.
Glad you enjoyed your food and drinks. We'll work on the speed-Janos
I took a chance on this place and brought some clients to dinner here. The menu is very cool, and every dish we had was fantastic. I only wish that the waitstaff matched the food. Our waiter was uninspiring: didn’t make recommendations, disappeared for over 20 minutes at one point, and dropped the check with not even a thank you.
You should still go to this place though. The calamari was unlike anything I have ever had — addictive would be the right word to describe it.
Great cocktails, good food, nice room.
First time here, enjoyed very much. Our entrees were great (porchetta and the tofu dish), wine list limited but good value, service friendly and attentive but left us alone once we were served and everything AOK - a good thing! Alex our server. Get the bread pudding dessert! Will go back when in Tucson.
So glad you enjoyed everything. Thank you for the kind words-Janos
We went for dinner, but would go back for happy hour. GREAT food, super good service. Best calamari I've ever had. Everyone in our group loved their meals AND desserts. Happy hour features lower prices on appetizers and drinks. This is, simply put, a great restaurant.
We had a fabulous meal. Everything was perfect. The food was amazing. The presentation was beautiful. The service was friendly and fun. Just what we wanted. Loved it all. DTK is our downtown favorite!!!
Granted it was Friday and busy before the shows, the service was slow. It got slower after the bulk of the patrons left. It was very noisy, one could not have a comfortable conversation. There was a single vegetarian dish.
Excellent innovative food
This is a very pleasant place with a very comfortable vibe. I call the food very good and would come back yet again.
Although the food was amazing, the service was atrocious. The staff refilling water and clearing dishes barely acknowledged us when we spoke to them. The waiter didn’t show up for 10 minutes and then flippantly asked if we “wanted to get some food”. No one brought bread, so after 20 minutes, we couldn’t find our server and had to ask someone else. She barely mumbled a reply, then brought bread over. If the food hadn’t been excellent I would have been very upset as it was a birthday celebration dinner, and I was really expecting a lot due to the amazing looking menu. I may return, but ONLY because the chef is amazing.
service: waiter obviously young and new: did not ask if Manhattan was "up" or "rocks", came w/o cherry, companion's drink came w/o asked for lime. attentive new-busboy Robert noticed missing table set-up, which he added. Additional waiter seemed abrupt, dismissive. Food: salmon order rare arrived rare (!), broccoli cooked perfectly, though the entire dish, including polenta was warm at best, and not hot. Ditto for companion's dishes. The room is well lit, active, interesting with plenty of staff, but our individual experience lacked warmth and detail.
Our dinner at Downtown Kitchen + Cocktails was one of the best restaurant experiences we have had in the past year or so. The food was delicious - different takes on crabmeat, pork and salmon, using interesting ingredients. The service was outstanding - friendly, gracious and knowledgeable. We had reservations and were seated promptly and did not feel rushed during our dinner. The interior is lovely and had a lively vibe. Prices were very reasonable for such high quality food, and the wine pours were quite generous. We were vacationing in Tucson, and we would definitely try to return to this restaurant on our next trip to Tucson.
Disappointed after many previous visits— The tofu dish we had a few weeks ago was way too mild, did not have adequate Szechuan peppers or hot peppers. On iur last visit more recently the Porchetta dish was extremely fatty and unpleasant to eat and a bit heavy on the sauce, and my wife’s choice of the special which was a pulled pork with allspice was too heavily flavored and was not up to the usual standards. I regret that the quality and creativity previously seen it Janis’ restaurants seems to have slipped.
