Low level lighting with exposed brick walls, topped with candle lit dining made the ambience a 10 out of 10. Ahi tuna appetizer and salmon special were absolutely delicious!

We had a fantastic dining experience at Downtown Grill. As visitors to Macon, we were looking for a one of a kind historic dining experience at a steakhouse. Downtown Grill was such find. Blake was our attentive waiter, spoiling us really. I choose a Rye whiskey and my husband was served Blake’s spicy recommendation. Did I mention the two page whiskey choices? We had appetizers, salads and a main course. Duck was tender and moist, Filet melted in our mouth and the Elk was divine. Enjoy!

My Steak was very good and tender well seasoned. They butterflied my steak which was awesome! My husband ordered the Cowboy steak medium and his too was delicious he really enjoyed. We both had a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus which were very tasty!!! This was our 2nd time and we will definitely be going back. First time husband tried the duck he loved it! Great atmosphere

This is a classy yet affordable restuarant that serves quality food at a reasonable price. The restuarant is in a historical building which is tucked away in an alley which makes your dinning experience very unique. Parking can be a little tricky but restuarant does offer valet parking. The ambiance is very good. The menu isn't super large but large enough and all the dishes (steaks, seafood, chicken, and even some pasta) offered are top notch. Try their chocolate chip bread pudding. It is delicious!

Fabulous service, appetizers, salad, bread, main course, wine, coffee & dessert! We didn’t feel rushed & received just the right amount of attention from Blake, our server! The aged ribeye was so juicy & flavorful & so huge that we had to take some home. The andouille crusted trout was spicy, fresh & cooked perfectly. All of the food was perfect. I love how it was dark, quiet, & private.

We went for the first time and were excited about the experience. We were placed in their back room which is closed off from the rest of the restaurant. It was very quiet and awkward around the other tables. I would go again but request not to be sat in that room. It ruined our experience.

We had one of our favorite servers, which always gets the evening off to a great start. She paced everything perfectly and the food, as always, was perfectly prepared and delicious. We had a great evening. What’s also great about Downtown Grill is the fact it’s popular with folks on expense accounts and large parties, but it’s laid out in such a way that it never interferes with our ability to enjoy a night out. Highly recommended for a fun night out.

Our server was just as amazing as the food! Sarah's explanations of the items on the menu made each one sound incredible. I wanted to eat everything on the menu. Our meal was a birthday celebration and it was beyond delicious. We will be back again to try more dishes. Thanks for a great night!

We tried this restaurant for the first time Friday night before a concert at the nearby Macon Auditorium. It's a little hard to find using GPS, but definitely persist. It's worth it. Turns out the do have valet parking, which we did not realize.

The setting is old-school, but kind of cozy. The service was outstanding. Our server timed everything perfectly to get us to show on time and did a great job guiding us to some really tasty choices. The menu is extensive and full of a great variety of meat and seafood dishes. The craft cocktail menu and wine list are also quite good. Will definitely find an excuse to go back here when next in Macon.

We were a table of 6. Made reservations through open table. The valet was a little slow. Only one attendant. We were seated timely. We ordered appetizers and drinks. The crab cakes were more breading than crab, and the sushi grade ahi Tuna was overcooked. The cheese board with the bread and honey was great. We all had steaks and 4 were cooked perfectly and 1 a little overcooked but delicious. The salad and spinach were excellent but the broccoli was overpriced. 1 small portion over 5.00. The green beans were very salty.

The service was good but not very attentive. This was a birthday as noted on the reservation. No special attention for the occasion. The Dessert we had was creme’ brûlée’. Good dessert but I prefer more of a custard versus pudding texture. The coffee tasted burnt. One person was taking leftovers. The waiter offered to box it but never retired with it and we eventually left.

My only complaint of the ambiance was you have to walk through the smoke filled (cigar) bar to get to your table.

Our bill was over $500 which was a little more than expected expected but wasn’t necessarily a negative. The tip was included. I would over tip If not, but since it was included that’s all that was left.

I would probably try at least one more time.

This is a unique venue, down an alley in an old building with lots of character. To get to the dining area you walk past a smokey bourbon bar into a leather accented restaurant area. The menu has good american fare variety, heavy on the daily specials.

I have eaten here 4 or 5 times in 2019; it varies from good to extraordinary. 2020 started off really good.

Second time coming. I had the Elk, which was very tasty( and pricy) wish there was more of it though. Sides were cheese grits soufflé, asparagus and a Caesar salad, which were excellent. Appetizers- crab cakes and grit fritters- delicious. Service was on point, (great job Erin!)The only thing was this obnoxiously loud talking table right next to ours, everyone else seemed annoyed as well. But except for that, it was awesome. I’ll be back ASAP. Definitely top 5 restaurants in Macon/Bibb.

Excellent if I had to sum it up in one word. My wife and I arrived a little early (before opening), and were invited to wait at the bar. We were greeted by a bartender that knew about every aspect of the restaurant. We found out he also spends time in the kitchen helping with cooking, so he had incredible knowledge of the menu.
Our waiter also explained the menu in great detail. Rarely have I had such an informed decision in what I ordered.
This is a place everyone should try. The history...the building (hidden gem)...everything.
There were a couple of things that kept the experience from being perfect, but wouldn't keep us from dining there again.
1) We were seated in a small dining room. It filled up quickly, and became very loud. My research made me believe the setting would be a little more intimate. I felt like we were dining with everybody in the room. The problem was with me, and my expectations . It wouldn't keep me from easily choosing to return.
2) The booths were incredibly small. This is what kept me from making my rating 5 star.
I hold comfort at a high premium, and I'm difficult to make comfortable.
Ask for a table over a booth if available .

I am a repeat patron of Downtown Grill in Macon, GA. My associate & myself dine there on almost every trip to Macon, and usually have parties ranging from 4 to 6 persons. Until our most recent visit on December 3, 2019, we have always held Downtown Grill above all others in food quality, service, and ambiance. On this night, our service was slower than normal, but that could be a staffing issue, and our server was as nice as I have come to expect.

Unfortunately, the cook COMPLETELY FAILED on 2 of 3 steak orders. My wife ordered the bone-in filet cooked Medium, and I ordered the Heart of Ribeye cooked Medium-Well. Both steaks were served RAW! - not rare, raw. We intended on asking for them to be cooked more, but the waitress did not return until we were pressed for time just to make our next engagement, therefore we could not wait any longer. We had been seated for 1 hr 45 minutes before served, only leaving 15 minutes to eat before our next event.

In addition to the lack of cooking temperature, Linda's filet was horrendous. It must have been the end of the tenderloin because it was completely full of gristle, which is not found in most filets. She was unable to cut a clean slice and most of the steak was completely torn, yet remained fully attached by gristle and such... My Heart of Ribeye appeared to be a good cut of meat, but it was completely raw and the 2 bites I was able to eat took forever to chew.

We finally caught the attention our waitress when it was time to pay our checks, and too late for additional cooking. We showed her our complaints and she agreed they were raw and especially that Linda's filet cut was bad. She reported to manager and removed the filet from our bill due to the bad cut of beef, but there was nothing that could be done regarding the raw meat at that point... I informed everyone that I was not asking for a discount, but appreciated their attempt to reconcile.
