Douzo Modern Japanese Restaurant
We were there for the lunch deal and we had a wonderful experience. We had the Douzo lunch set which was mostly chef choice of mini chirashi, yakimono and anemone. They were all yummy! The hot green tea was tasty as well as our desserts. Atmosphere was lively. And service was good.
Waited over an hour to receive our sushi because they prioritized take out orders over people in the restaurant. The waiter offered edamame for free while we waited and then even the small bowl of edamame took 20 min. Manager came over to apologize and offered to comp a couple drinks, but then we got the receipt and they weren't comped, embarrassingly bad communication and service. Sushi was fine, better than some sushi I've had in boston but not the best. Honestly I've had better sushi at a chain restaurant in the midwest.
A fantastic Mother’s Day!
A little pricey and if busy they tend to rush you a little bit, but this is our go to sushi spot.
Excellent food and ambience. Great food for price
Always good. Staff is very helpful, and the food is excellent.
Waiter’s impatience is the only negative I have; food was excellent as usual!
Hands down great food and value I've enjoyed my time there
The food and service was good. Small portions and pricey.
This is a MUST when in the Boston area!!
Excellent meal, great service
We used to love coming here, but it seems that there’s some new shortcoming every time we show up. On this occasion the service was so inadequate that our evening was ruined. Too many details to describe here — but it’s become a 50/50 proposition whether or not we’ll receive delicious sushi and adequate service.
Very nice sushi restaurant, great taste for a great value
Food was ok but I question the hygiene of the restaurant. Tables and menus were sticky.
Really delicious cocktails and food! Would definitely recommend. 100% get the shrimp appetizer— delicious
The food is really fresh and well prepared and the portions are surprisingly larger than I expect. We like the variety of dishes the menu has to offer in comparison to other Japanese restaurant.
one of the best Japanese resturants I've ever visited (including Japan)
highly suggest and can't wait to go there again soon
Outstanding sushi, nice restaurant for dinner with friends, co-workers. A little pricey.
Excellent, attentive service. Beautiful sushi dishes from an extensive menu.
Food was lukewarm when it arrived. Appetizer (gyoza) came at the same time as the entrees- was the only thing that was hot. We would have asked that things be reheated, but we both had to get back to work and service had been slow to begin with.
Was very surprised- I’m a regular customer, and restaurant was far less crowded than usual.
Friendly & patient staff, plus delicious food.
Everything was great, except the service. Our waiter was very impatient. We got our food well after several other parties who had come after we did. He never stopped by to see how we were doing. I hope it wasn't cause we're were a mother/daughter duo, not a couple.
Overall great experience! Food a bit of expensive though
Best food and waiter - V!!! Recommend the XO that was on fire! And the lobster salad !
We went two nights in a row!
While I enjoyed some of the rolls I had at Douzo, I think the California roll and some of the nigiri could have been improved upon. The miso soup was good but it could have been hotter. The pricing was quite steep. For 2 people it was $55.
Could have been better.
Other than a rather terse hostess (we were 12 minutes late for our reservation because of traffic), the dining experience was pleasant, the sushi fresh and some of the rolls were interesting beyond the typical. Small plates or bites were also pleasant. Sake was excellent. Tables are tight, but since they canceled our reservation, I think we were just seated at an available table; perhaps the "reserved" table might have been better.
Fun place for Japanese food. Some items were better than others, but it depends on your willingness to try new things!
Way overpriced for the quality. Nothing we ate (we mostly had sushi rolls and a few appetizers) was exceptional by any means, and the portions were skimpy for the price.
Very good food . Nice staff .
Great food, service and ambiance. Quality sushi and donburi for the price, especially their lunch specials.
Loved this place! Our server, Roland, was an absolute gentleman, so helpful with recommendations on the menu (and Boston nightlife!). The food was fantastic. The sushi rolls were the best I’ve ever had. Go with the Dragon roll - it was a total game-changer. And the cocktails were good, too. Really can’t fault this place, only negative would be that the restrooms were freezing cold. Would highly recommend Douzo for many occasions, next time we visit Boston we’ll be straight back!
good food, modern atmosphere, but tables are really close... not an intimate dinner place.
Excellent food and service. Wonderful menu with spot on pictures.
Food was good, but wait time was a bit long during lunch time.
Food was absolutely delicious with the best quality sushi we've had. Cocktails were so good too! Staff was friendly and despite the restaurant being completely full they were efficient and constantly checking up on us. The ambience is relaxed, noise doesn't carry all that much, and is super comfy. One of the best restaurant experiences we've had!!
Excellent food and service.
Loved it! Great food and a fun spot
