Double O Grill Ratings and Reviews
Our go to place for casual dining. Sometimes lunch, sometimes dinner. Frank has Celiac disease so we have to be very careful. He has never had a problem here so we eat here quite often. Writing an additional review because our server tonight, also named Frank, caught something we weren’t aware of. Hubby ordered Bananas Foster over ice cream for dessert not realizing the banana liquor was wheat based. Frank, our server, came back and said he checked the bottle and saw that is was wheat based. Suggested just leaving it out as the rum and other flavored liquors were GF . Frank, my hubby, was able to enjoy the special dessert tonight. Both of our meals, my seafood risotto fra diavolo and Frank’s skirt steak with roasted potatoes and veggies were excellent. Obviously, we will continue to dine here. BTW, we had brunch here last Sunday when we had family visiting from Boston. Everyone enjoyed, including my 7 yr old Grandson. The buffet is extensive and they accommodated my husband with GF toast from the kitchen for his eggs.
Dine here often....great GF menu. Today was the first time for brunch and it was as good as we were told. The buffet was expansive and our server provided GF toast for hubby. Our “kids” and Grandson visiting from out of town for our anniversary were also very pleased with the variety of offerings on the buffet.
My wife and I had date night here. We had been told that the food was good but we found otherwise. I had the pork spare ribs; they were dry, tasteless, and not enough sauce. Wife had the veg burger which she said was stringy/dry and the gluten free bun it came on was stale tasting. The bread/bruschetta they served was very good though. Atmosphere is too dark for us but suppose some people like that. Overall it was a clean place and bathrooms well serviced. We will not return as we've had better value/quality of food and we prefer a brighter atmosphere.
Service was very good. Very disappointed in what they call "bananas foster" dessert. Is all it was vanilla ice cream with a hard as rock sliced banana that looks like it might have been rolled in cinnamon sugar or something and no sauce what so ever so no flavor at all.
Service was slightly off, but not rude or bad. It was not very busy but barely saw our server. The food was delicious; French Onion soup really hit the spot! Lunch portions of salads were larger than expected. No room for dessert, sadly, because they looked like they would be very good!
Excellent brunch with something for everyone. Full breakfast options, lunch, seafood, specialties, and desserts. Surprised to see shrimp, chicken Marsala, and some great entrées. Nice ambience, upscale yet casual. Definitely will return. Added to list of local favorites!
Never disappoints. Our server was great and when seeing a GF menu made a point of checking the complimentary bruschetta as she believed it was NOT GF. Surprised us because when we make it at home it's just tomatoes, onions, basil and olive oil. Apparently, their oil is a blend and since it contained soy was not GF. She did, however, bring out grilled GF bread with butter for him to have with his salad. As always, he enjoyed his Jambalaya and GF beer. I personally could make a meal of their house made crusty bread and bruschetta but controlled myself as I was getting one of their great pasta dishes. Chicken and mushrooms with farfalle pasta in a Parmesan cheese sauce garnished with peas and pancetta. Wonderful.... and most of the pasta dishes can be prepared with GF pasta. Always enjoy Double O.
Found this through open table while on vacation. Not the place for a quiet dinner, but food is good. Menu is extensive. This was a Friday night so place was hopping - very noisy, rather chaotic. To enter you must walk through a cloud of smoke since the smokers stand outside by the front door. Place to go if you cannot find somewhere else. You cannot go wrong, but not a memorable experience.
Good and variety great, service usually is really good but today not so much. Went for brunch buffet. Sat at table for almost 10 min waiting for a waitress. Three walked past us multiple times until we just got up for food. Came back and halfway through first setting and she came. Not their norm.
I really like this place. It is a little out of my way most of the time, so it is unusual for me to go there, but it never misses. Usually I don't like chains, but this is an exception. Portion size is large and everything can be shared two or three ways. The quality of vegetables and meat is high. Presentation of food is very attractive. Desert selection is large and the quality is good. The service is uniformly good. It is a place to relax though, it is not overly fast, at least a dinner time.
I went with friends for Sunday brunch. It was an excellent value for the buffet and the food on the buffet was also delicious. The only downside was the crowds because sometimes you waited a bit either on the omelette line or to get one of the entrees, but it wasn't too bad a wait. The waitress we had was excellent. I would highly recommend this brunch.
We were there on New Years Eve. It was an early dinner and the restaurant was pretty full, but we were seated right away. Our waitress was excellent and very friendly. The appetizers were fabulous, as were the crab cakes. The tostada chicken salad was adequate but could really use more flavor. It was noisy but it was a festive atmosphere and we really enjoyed ourselves!
This place was great! I live an hour away and was is the area for a festival and I will take the drive in the near future to come back and have dinner here. The food was great and so were the drinks and music! Place is big and love that they take reservations. Management was good and so was the service.
The food felt like you were eating at a banquet. The table we were at in the back by the bathroom did not have enough room for my husband. The table was attached to the wall so you could not adjust it. He is 6ft 280 lbs and he was so uncomfortable and it was so loud you could not have a conversation without screaming. Very disappointed
We were first seated in the back bar area and it was very loud and asked to be moved to main dining area which they were very accommodating to do it. Waitress was good until we got our food and didn't check back on us. One person in our party ordered steak medium rare and it came out beyond well done. Had to go to hostess stand to ask them to send our waitress over once the rest of our party was half done eating and she still hadn't checked on us. They were very helpful in getting steak back to kitchen and new one cooked. Manager checked immediately after new one brought out and also took it off our check. Waitress finally came back and apologized non stop until we left.
The food is always fresh and well prepared and presented. We dined on salads, a seafood combo with endive, mesclun, cheese and dressing as well as the chicken breast salad with feta cheese, tomatoes, pecans and tomato vinegarette.
Our only dismay was that we were seated by the exit door which is also used by the waitstaff to serve people dining outside on the patio. There were plenty of other available tables which should have been offered instead of this location.
