Amazing hidden gem!!
Excellent and knowledgeable service. Very interesting menu. Noise level ok. Only disappointment was the entree of hamachi—not much flavor, very small jaw, and somewhat dry. All other dishes were great.
This is my second time at Double Knot. I had another great dining experience. The food is incredible, the server was attentive and knowledgeable and made great suggestions. It has a wonderful bar with delicious cocktails and the downstairs dining room is comfortable and cozy. Everything is made to perfection. I will definitely return!
Loved the evening and food was outstanding...will go again soon.
This is Tapas Tokyo-style. Japanese and some Korean food in small plates. The menu can be intimidating. It is small plates and plenty of them. We opted for the tasting menu which is 10 small plates. Very filling - a little pricey but worth it. I highly recommend the Pastrami Pork Belly Bao (Steamed Bun) and the Shrimp Tacos (sounds mundane but it is surprising). But all of the plates we had were delicious.
And I should also mention how good the service was. Attentive, friendly, and super knowledgeable about the menu.
The tasting menu was delicious and very reasonably priced. Chicken mousse was amazing! There was so much food!
Place is very charming (must go downstairs!). Tasting menu was out of this world! Food was very flavorful! Compliments to the chef! The only thing that can improve is the amount of time it takes to get drinks.
Very cool restaurant with great ambiance. Speakeasy vibe. We will definitely be back.
Great spot with terrific and creative food and excellent sake selection! The traditional Japanese was simply delicious and reminiscent of Tokyo nights. Great service great manager!
Excellent food and service in a cozy, romantic atmosphere. A special night!
I did the tasting menu (chef's choice) while on a business trip in Philly. The food is creative and the ingredients are high quality, while the atmosphere is novel and exciting. My three favorite dishes were the edamame dumplings in broth, the cheese curds, and the skewer of filet mignon. Skip the brussel sprouts unless you enjoy them normally. My only complaints were that the flank steak was cut too thickly for its toughness, and that I've had better mochi from Whole Foods grocery store (but one doesn't come here for dessert so that is a minor quibble). Expect that it will set you back quite a bit ($80 with tip), but it is a memorable experience and that is part of what you are paying for. I'm glad that I did it. Bon apetit Philly!
Excellent meal. Everything was delicious.
Our new favorite spot!!! By far best restaurant in town!! Celebrated our anniversary, lived the dreamed lights.. food is absolutely delicious.. everything we ordered was amazing! And we felt like we probably missed so much more!!! Can’t wait to go back there
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING food. The tasting menu is the way to do it. I’m from Texas and had only one night in philly- couldn’t have made a better decision. Must try!
Went here for my birthday. The server was knowledgeable and attentive and the food was to die for
This basement place is very dark and extremely noisy, not a good settings for intimate dates or group meals. We watched the sushi chefs at work from the counter and decided that we would not recommend this place as a authentic Japanese sushi restaurant at all.
Most of the dishes we ordered were either grilled or fully cooked. The flavoring for grilled yellow-tail cheek (HAMACHI COLLAR) and broiled sea-bass were OK as our "main" dishes, but were a little bit too sweet to us. We gave them both an B+.
The fired rice with cod was a C-. The only dish kind of special was the edamame dumplings, got a A- from us.
ALBACORE tuna ("ceviche") and OCTOPUS "CARPACCIO" were OK, both got a B+ from us. These two dishes were as "raw" as we went in this place.
PASTRAMI PORK BELLY BAO was a heavily modified version of Taiwanese Gua-Bao, got a C+ from us. Go find a true Taiwanese version if you can.
Our server was very attentive and the service overall got a A- from us.
Just great food, amazing venue, and good location.
Amazing food and wonderful ambience. The food is always fresh and even though it is small plates theres plenty of food so you don't leave feeling hungry.
This was our third visit and we again had a stellar experience. This was the first time we had been seated at a table literally side by side with another table, likely because there were just two of us instead of a group. This was disconcerting but the other couple were just finishing up so we were not sitting like this for long. Our server was fantastic, attentive and informative and just overall very pleasant. We had the tasting menu; plates come out quickly and each was delicious and unique; the finished plates were whisked away discreetly. We highly recommend the yellowtail, the shrimp tacos, the duck scrapple bao bun, and the sea bass (pictured), but every single thing we had was delectable. My husband enjoyed the Double Knot, a smoky bourbon specialty cocktail. Warning - the restaurant is quite loud, but you can still hear yourselves talk and it does not take away from the experience. Can't wait to visit again.
While the food is amazing, we waited one hour after our reservation in order to be seated.
Went to Double Knot for my girlfriend's and my 4-year anniversary and it was arguably the best meal we had in Philly to date. We ordered the chef's tasting menu, which we 100% recommend, so the kitchen selected our orders for us. All ten plates were great - with the real standouts being the swordfish belly, the Chilean sea bass, and the tuna tartar - but there were no weak spots on the menu. Our server, Sam, was fantastic as well - incredibly attentive and gave us great suggestions. Cocktails were also a perfect addition to the meal. I will be thinking about this meal for weeks!
Delicious!! Amazing service & food. Overall our favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. Will always go when in Philadelphia.
Wonderful food, a little expensive for some items but overall a fantastic meal.
Fantastic service and food. We loved the Chef’s Tasting Menu!
Carissa is a phenomenal server, very knowledgeable about the menu including drinks.
Great service, spot, atmosphere, food, etc. Would DEFINITELY recommend that folks check it out. Sat at the counter sushi bar downstairs, and it was awesome!
A little disappointed as this was my favorite restaurant but it just wasn’t a wow this last time...
I had a great time celebrating my anniversary at Double Knot! The service was outstanding - our waitress knew the menu inside and out and made great suggestions. The manager asked my boyfriend and I to move down one table in order to make a 4-top, and provided us with complimentary champagne and an appetizer for our troubles.
The Swordfish Skewer was by far my favorite dish. It was my first time eating swordfish belly and it won't be my last. My boyfriend's favorite dish was the Chicken Liver Mousse, which was brought out with the champagne.
Lovely evening! Interesting menu. Great food, nice ambiance. Edamame dumplings and tuna rice crackers were delicious! First floor restrooms in adjoining (same management) Sampan—- sound system plays fun movie audio clips:-) so much fun!
This restaurant never disappoints. Sushi is amazing, original and delicious. Our server was fantastic - witty, efficient and lovely.
We were impressed that the manager walked from table to table to check on every one.
I can’t wait to go back again 💗
Food and drinks were delicious and service was great!
The tasting menu is amazing, cocktails are creative and tasty, and the service was excellent. Totally worth the hype!!
Exceptional dining experience. I have been here twice and both times have been magnificent. When recommending this restaurant to friends, I tell them it is "the Disney World of dining." Every item I've tried on the menu thus far is delicious. The servers are incredibly attentive and kind. The ambiance and décor is so unique and beautiful. Every time I dine here, I already can't wait to plan my next experience. Thank you for making both my birthday and my boyfriend's so memorable!
You can’t get a bad meal here! 10th visit at least...
Fabulous food unique in Philadelphia. Chef tasting well worth it. Vibrant atmosphere.
Our waiter was incredible. Made our first anniversary unforgettable
Double Knot was a great experience! Loved the food and ambience. Highly recommend for any occasion.
So this is my sixth time visiting Doubleknot and I live 70 minutes away so each time is a special occasion. Unfortunately I guess I was due for disappointment. I ordered the chef’s tasting menu and within 30 minutes I had received 7 of the 10 items. It definitely felt like they were rushing us. When one of the usual highlights of the night was brought out, the hanger steak...it was cold. The waitress was kind enough and we accepted a complimentary dessert but it was an overall disappointment. Doubleknot ... please don’t let all the good reviews or press clippings go to your head.... we’ll be back again but it won’t be for a while.
