Dos Urban Cantina
Inspired by the boldness and bounty of Mexico, the menu is an original interpretation of Mexican cuisine that embraces contemporary flavors and ingredients.
Since opening, the restaurant has been named one of Chicago Magazine’s Top 5 “Best New Restaurants” and a recipient of The Michelin Guide’s 2017 Bib Gourmand. Dos has received a multitude of recognitions from the Chicago Tribune, including the 2017 Reader’s Choice Award winner for Best Happy Hour, 2017 Critic’s Choice Award winner for Pastry Chef of Year, as well as being hailed as “the most important Mexican restaurant since Topolobampo” by Phil Vettel.
Dinner service Wednesday through Sunday and Sunday brunch.
Happy Hour: Wednesday - Friday 5:00pm - 7:00pm
Dinner: Wednesday - Sunday 5:00pm
Sadly service was below our expectations. The dining room was full so we were seated in the bar area. After waiting 10-15 minutes we had to ask the hostess if we could place a drink order. Our server looked very busy trying to manage almost all of the tables in the packed bar area. For a Saturday night they should’ve had more staff to accommodate their paying customers.
Overall food was over salted and just not what we expected from what we thought was a nice restaurant.
Good service and good food. We sat outside but the inside decor was great. I liked how they had big wrap around booths to sit in.
I am singing them a little bit on their ceviche. It was really pico de Gallo with maybe 3 little pieces of fish. I will go back though, not enough to say it’s a bad place.
Everything about this place is the best! The food the staff and the consistency.
Food was fantastic! Happy hour was unbelievably affordable.
It was the hottest day of the year and the A/C was not working. Other than sweating during our meal, I thought everything was ok.
Great atmosphere and food. Unfortunately we picked a night when the AC fizzled out. So that overshadowed what would have been an excellent evening. They did their best to alleviate the dining room discomfort by bringing in floor fans; but they were no match for the 90 degree heat outside. Would have expected them to offer a free appetizer or round of drinks for those who stuck it out; but the bill came in full. This is where we felt the service fell short.
Went here for my birthday with my sister--also her birthday. The food is always great and inspired. Mexican-inspired, but not Mexican per se. The chef and his wife worked with Rick Bayless. Exceptional food. Great happy hour. Visit!
Unbelievable meal! The flavors are just incredible. I make a stop to Dos whenever I can as the menu always has something new to try.
Make sure you let the waiter pick something for you, my favorite dishes are ones I wouldn't think to try.
Dos is a great find. The food is detailed and delicious. I have been there 5-6 times and have yet to experience anything other than pure delight with my entire experience. The dishes are unique and authentic, well presented and incredibly delightful. I will go back to Dos many more times with friends and family. Highly recommended
This is my third time here. Made plans with an old friend who I had not seen in years, so I wanted to pick a place that wasn’t pretentious. The quality of the food - just ok, nothing to write home about. I was mostly annoyed by the server. She kept coming to our table every 5 mins to check in on us. Although at first I appreciated it, after awhile it got annoying!! It felt like she was rushing us or needed the table which I don’t understand because we ordered a lot of food!! Our bill for 2 people with 2 drinks each was $140+, we tipped 20% out of courtesy, but definitely not going back and I don’t recommend at all.
Always refreshing and exceptional.
Nice food with good service and nice place too:-). Really enjoy our dinner there. Will come again.
Went for father's day brunch - great flavors, nice variety, excellent guacamole. Nice airy quiche with chorizo.
While not your traditional Mexican atmosphere, there is no mistaking the Mexican tone of the décor. Warm, inviting. Looking to go back for a regular brunch.
It is a treat every time we go to DUC!
We love the welcoming environment & the tasty food!
Jennifer, Brian adn the DUC team are the BEST!!
Food food serc
Delicious flavorful food. Great for a special occasion.
The menu is creative yet it has a consistent delicious food and flavor! Happy Hour is great for groups or couples offering a variety of dishes and affordable prices. We will be back!
Terrific, menu a little sparse but great food and cocktails. Service was perfect
Delicious food, great service, lovely decor.
Awesome brunch, beautiful day on the patio and bottomless mimosa! Glad it is so close!
Great Salmon tartare. Definitely not a “traditional” Mexican menu. Left something to be desired, but overall a good place to try.
Visually beautiful restaurant/bar area and cool atmosphere. Perfect summer date night spot - open windows and outdoor seating. Excellent service, delicious drinks and cocktails, great music.
Amazing!! Great ambiance and service on a hot day
Some of the dishes were really good but others were just ok. It did not live up to the hype and great reviews. Had to wait a long time to be seated for the reservation and then a while for the waiter to come. Octopus dish is delicious.
Good apps, entrees were cooked well but rather bland. Service people came like 8 times to bus dishes
Margaritas were delicious.
Very few healthy, non-meat menu items. I was stuck eating chips and dip.
The hostess was quite rude and the server we had wasn’t great either. We moved to another table after a friend showed up. He served we had at that table was nice.
Great meal good drinks fun atmosphere
Terrific. Enjoyed by all.
First time dining at Dos Urban with a group of 7 last Friday night and it was excellent. The food was very well done and delicious. Service was good. She was present but not hovering. I would definitely recommend Dos Urban to friends and family visiting Chicago.
Delicious foods - fabulous desserts
Don't miss the chocolate cake or anything made with corn.
not consistent. Food was much better the first time. Still ok
We went for Mother’s Day and staff was super chill and friendly but not too friendly. Food was great and a good value.
It is always a nice pleasant experience to go here. We have brunch as often as we can. The food is great and the prices are pretty reasonable.
overall very nice experience. it was mother's day brunch, which was good. looking forward to returning for full menu.
Amazing, wonderful, top notch, still my favorite restaurant in Chicago. Love.
The chef was kind and attentive. The food was delicious and a great value for all the options available.
The menu is rather limited, but the food and the service is excellent. Many vegetarian and vegan entrees. The portions are small for the money. Parking is difficult, often a 2 Block walk. Valet service would be a great addition.
Creative and delicious food.
Tasty Margaritas, add the habanero tincture.
Will definitely come back.
My wife and I had a wonderful time. The food and drinks are really good but I think what I liked the most was the setting/room and the vibe. For a Sunday brunch it was nearly the perfect balance between laid back and fun.
