Dos Caminos - Times Square Ratings and Reviews
Waitress - Leilei (or something) acted like she was going me a favor when I signaled for service. Kept telling me to hold on.
She also got offended when I took my bill to the cashier because I was in a rush and could not find her. She told me...don’t give the bill to her...she’s the manager.
Pretty obnoxious waitress.
The place has great atmosphere which is why I expected the food to be fantastic, but it just wasn’t. The mixed drinks were great & the guacamole was as well. Good cold beer, but The food was just “ok”. Plus they had us in. Room with a party of 20,which a our server was also assigned to. So she was tied up with them all evening. She did well trying for us but she shouldn’t have had to. That’s a management mistake.
First time at this restaurant with my wife. We really enjoyed ourselves. We were worried at first, because there is sort of a walk in atmosphere upstairs, but when they moved us downstairs we were relieved to see the nicer dinner setting below. Great food. We really enjoyed everything.
Booked a table for 9pm and still waited 30 minutes even though it wasn’t busy. The staff were incapable and too busy talking to each other. After asking for a third time, the waitress said the table was “being cleaned” and would be 2 minutes. 15 minutes later and after asking for a forth time the waitress (who also dressed like a slob) sat us at the empty table which was free the minute we walked in and also in the bar area not the restaurant.
We questioned this and got no response.
Food wasn’t anything exciting and the cocktails were vile, watered down and overpriced.
Avoid like the plague.
Rude host greeted us upon arrival. Once we were seated the server took order and food was delivered promptly. However, never came back to ask if we wanted an additional cocktail (we did). Also, had to flag him down to try to get check once we were done. Have eaten at other Dos Caminos restaurants before and never had this type of issue.
We went to a Broadway show and wanted a change, so we picked Dos Caminos for Mexican. What a great idea. Everything was better than we expected. Guac was fresh & although I LOVE meat, I had the vegetarian dish. Great Find. And one more thing, an IMPORTANT THING..........
THEY HONOR RESERVATIONS !!!
Great location for the theater district. Main floor is bright and airy and basically, just the bar with a few tables. The lower floor is the main restaurant and it's dark and rather plain. This was Sunday brunch. The good news is that there are unlimited cocktails. The food is ok. and there were a number of tables set for large groups - one for about 30 to 40 people. Other tables had lots of children, making conversation a challenge.
I made a reservation for 9pm, we didn't get seated until 9:45 and they told us the kitchen was closing so we had to order right away. I realize it was thanksgiving night and they were perhaps not up to their optimum, but the lack of ambiance, dirty looking restaurant and rude hostess didn't help. They never bothered to tell us that our reservation was not at a table, but at a bar table with high stools, VERY uncomfortable. The guacamole which is the signature dish of every Mexican restaurant was disgusting, the avocado was not ripe and the texture was like wood. The food was dry, over cooked and my party basically couldn't eat. We took the food with us and decided to give it to the homeless, but honestly, it was so bad, no one would eat it.
I've been to most Dos Caminos locations and really loved the times square location for a bigger group. We had a few young kids who got up and walked around a bit and didn't seem to bother anyone. in fact everyone who worked there was so nice and chatty with the kids (who had just come off of long plane rides)
the food was amazing as usual and our waiter was great! would def recommend!!
Great restaurant, great food, great service and great atmosphere. I have visited before, it seems like they renovated. The only thing I did not like this time was one of the women hostess did not seemed too happy when I requested a different table. Other than that it was a great dinning experience.
I've been to several other locations for this restaurant and it's generally quite good. I don't know what's going on in this restaurant everything was cold which is not pleasant for seafood the service was slow I don't understand what they are thinking it just dawned on you as you're sitting there that maybe it's impossible to feed that many people that quickly but if that's the case they shouldn't try. This restaurant was terrible and I don't think I'll go back to any of the other ones after this. The people we were sitting next to had to send their shrimp dish back to for the same reason and the lady ended up not eating dinner because she was so angry by the time they brought a second dish and it was no good. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant again but you can bet I'll be talking about it.
Service was excellent, as was the guacamole. Drinks are decent, and price is about what you’d expect from Times Square. Food was actually tasty and we had several different items - spicy items aren’t too spicy (but we’re from Texas, so that that with a grain of salt).
