Dos Caminos - SoHo
So disappointed in our experience after having been to this location many times before. It was dirty, smelled dirty, the bathrooms were disgusting.
I did really enjoyed my salad and my drink. My husband had a breakfast burrito which was huge but not very interesting.
The guacamole was delicious the chips were way too salty. We wanted to sit outside on a beautiful day, there were lots of open tables but understaffed on a beautiful fall Saturday afternoon.
I won’t be back.
Has gone right down hill. Service was awful, bathrooms and dining area was filthy. Even the margarita was just so-so.
I am a great fan of good Mexican food, this was far from that. Incredibly expensive and really really poor food. Inside was filthy, kitchen looked the same. Only highlight that the waitress Ashley was good. AVOID.
The food was great! A little pricey but you get what you pay for. One tiny thing is they may want to clean their bathrooms more often, they were pretty gross for a nice restaurant.
The steak was delicious!
I still go to Dos Caminos often, but on the most recent Saturday night, our waiter and the chef were a little overwhelmed i assume. Long waits for food. Sat outside which was wonderful, but even outside it was loud. But very energetic vibe and lots of "beautiful people" to gaze at. I will continue to go back.
There was a mouse that ran in between our tables while we were eating, and then disappeared into a hole that went into the indoor restaurant.
Great location. Atmosphere and food were good but service was really poor.
Inattentive staff. I ordered appetizers and these never came, although were charged in my bill (I had these removed from the bill).
Everything was great. Will most likely be back
First time to this location and unfortunately we had a not recommended visit. The server was nice but it took an hour to get our food after we ordered. We ordered fajitas and the portions was half the size to what we are used to from their other locations in the city. It was very little peppers, rice was two table spoons, the sour cream was a teaspoon etc. we had to ask for more chicken because this portion was minimal, when we got more the portion was good but it shouldn’t come out from the kitchen this way. We had to wait for more chicken, more sour cream etc. it just took away a lot from our dinner experience as we had friends from Europe with us.
Always a great meal and a great time! The nachos were so unbelievably good-the shrimp fajitas ... amazing!
Love the outdoor seating and our server was really attentive!
Nice Mexican Food
But extraordinary Margarita Cocktail
You can also sixty outside, nice garden
I asked for the outside table, the waiter was very rude saying that all the tables were not for parties... I went with 4 other friends... I won't back.
Absolutely terrible service. We waited an hour for one order of vegetable tacos. And another 20 minutes to get our corn (we ended up sending it back as by then we just wanted to leave.) The waitress kept telling us that the kitchen was backed up, but the restaurant was only 1/2 full, so they must have completely understaffed (not sure why, on a Friday night?) Would have been fine if the manager had come out to apologize or they had given us some free chips, but it really didn't seem that they cared at all that we were hungry and waiting.
Very disappointed. Started off with being told their restaurant week was 'over' but yet even now still listed as participating. Smaller then expected and never offered to be sat outside, great evening for it though. Got pulp tostadas and was left disappointed again, hardly any pulpo and mostly avocado and cucumber salad then anything else. Tried mac and chorizo and seems to be the same type of issue, barely any chorizo and the cheese was running and chunky as if the flour wasnt properly cooked into the sauce. We both had the skillet chimichangas and same result... meat was pretty dry and very light on the toppings of cream, no chicharron. Came with a side of rice n beans to 'share' for 2 (portion sizes small and entrees looked more like appetizers) but the green rice n beans were super bland. Tried passionfruit and mango frozen margaritas... stick to the beer, they were practically virgin. Didnt bother having dessert, much better places in the area, huge let down, wont be back.
Overall, this is a cool spot to enjoy food and drinks. However, the tortilla from the tacos that are homemade were cold, which was disappointing. The guacamole, chips and salsa are a must!!! The service was lacking, and my soda cup was refilled with water.
While the food is fine but not exceptional, the service is disappointing: we were still eating our starter when the main courses arrived! There was no space on the table for them, and no possibility to send the main courses back until we were done with the starter as the person bringing you the food only brings the food (cannot take orders for drinks or take decisions about sending things back). so we had to make space, finish the starters while the mains got colder... Honestly, this is very sub-standard and getting rushed like this extremely rude.
Eat churros pancakes ever. Yummy sangria.
Why am I still eating here? Don't be like me and find a better place for lunch, brunch or dinner. However-many years ago when table-side guac was still 'fun' Dos Caminos was a solid option! And then as years passed it became a safe option. Now it should just not be an option at all. I can make better guac and certainly do so for far less than 16 dollars for the small. The chips are even bad (if thats possible). Everything else we had was meh.
Food was delicious, had a fabulous table in an alcove. Server was abrupt and not accommodating to a simple substitution request to the cilantro rice. Waited silly long time for second round of drinks. Great space.
Great Friday night hot spot!!!! Super friendly staff and yummy food.
Awful. Worst tacos in NYC. This place used to be good, but now it’s not even Mexican. It’s owned by the people who own Bubba Gumps and other trashy, cheap chain restaurants. They put teriyaki and bbq sauce on the pollo, carne asada and carnitas tacos and the pescado was doused with mayonnaise. I left without eating 3/4 of my meal. The guac was even bad and the once good tortilla chips are now less Mexican than bagged chips you’d buy at Walmart. The only people who go here now are tourists that eat at Ruby Tuesday’s and think it’s fine dining.
Fajitas were very oily & the frozen p pear was way off which server knew. Server and manger were great. I didn’t complain as they knew things were off. Gauc was amazing. Thx.
The service was incredibly slow and the food was only warm.
Whenever we spend the day in SOHO this us our lunch break. The food quality is excellent! They have the best guacamole and chips. The drinks are wonderful and the ambiance is excellent.
Overall it was an OK experience. Food was OK, service was OK, pricing was OK. Location is great, and the patio was great. Would be a good restaurant to meet a friend for an outdoor drink plus a bit of guac on a summer evening.
Dirty bathroom and dirty dishes. Staff not friendly when we pointed out the dirty glasses.
We dined in the middle of the afternoon so it was not during peak time. Friendly staff and very good service. Ambiance was fun and in a terrific location.
We booked through open table which we clearly stated and the next day we received an email inquiring about our no show, the open table policy, and how it affects the restaurants business when we do not show up as expected.
If the restaurant has very few tables full and is relatively quiet at that hour, when the hostess staff does not recognize we were there, it puts some negativity on an otherwise good experience after that fact to receive an email requiring us to basically explain why we no showed. It’s like getting a lecture as a responsible adult for something you did not do wrong. I would recommend inquiring if someone did actually attend first before sending the additional negative information that does not apply, no matter how nicely stated. Yes, it is stated in the email but having to explain ourselves anyway directly impacts if we want to die there again or use open table, if we are relying on the staff to confirm we were there and they do not do their part.
Food was good. My mojito was amazing! But very overpriced for the small portions. Service was ok. I would only recommend going here just for drinks at the bar.
The host Cory was one of the rudest people we have ever come across in the service industry. We will not be returning because of it.
Did the bottomless brunch. The food was BOMB AF. The brunch deal is great. 18$ on top of any entree for bottomless drinks. Drinks were good, could of been a stronger but not bad. That bacon guacamole is ridiculous orgasmic. Our waiter was a homie great service.
Our waitress was amazing -- attentive, timely and suggested great picks!
Food was horrible and so was the service. The staff was unprofessional and wasn't aware of what was being server. I had mentioned about allergies and was still server food I could not consume.
Horrible service and bad food; the fajita was all burned and when exchanged, it was still the same. We had a very bad experience and I would not recommend this to any one.
Outside seating was great! The Music was too loud on the Inside
Dos Caminos has always been a favorite of mine. SoHo is definitely my favorite location for many reasons. I love their outdoor seating area more than their other locations, their waitstaff is amazing and always on top of drink, and they have the sweetest manager. Tacos and drinks are always good and you are never looking for your waiter which is my favorite. If you want some good tacos, guacamole, drinks, and service definitely come here!
Dos Caminos is great and I love taking advantage of the bottomless brunch special. However, we made a reservation for 3:15 and weren’t sat for an additional 20 mins which really used up a lot of the remaining time for the special which ends at 4. Other than that, it was great! Our server was great and the food is always flavorful.
I Have been going to Dos Caminos SoHo for many years. It was always one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in NY. Unfortunately, in the two last years the food has been changing for worse. The ambience continuous being very good.
The worst dining experience I have ever had in my life. I’m just sitting waiting for my food and the waiters drop sauce all over me. They don’t even know what salsa is and brought us tomato juice. Other tables who got there 30 minutes after us got their food faster. Let’s just say I will never dine at Dos Caminos again.
My date and I really enjoyed
